This would be a fitting way to bring closure to the events that led to the Civil War and the embers it left behind. It would go to show that Nigeria values a men who employ courage and sacrifice for the common man.

A fitting monument would be a giant statue overlooking a museum and library complex.

A lion has gone home.
May Ojukwu's soul rest in peace.

This post must be a bait to fool Igbo people, ko? You should be calling for a monument for the dead soldiers of the civil war.olodo

You talk about closure, but that kind of closure is impossible when you have unrepentant secessionists still running loose.

There is already a monument to the unknown soldier. And there are still unrepentant seccessionists because of people like you.
Bringing closure and showing respect is the wisest thing to do.

why building a new monument for him?

Where is this monument located, please post pictures if possible. Zungeru or Nnewi would be a good location for a monument for Ojukwu, placing one in Abuja will not be in furtherance of the closure you speak of. BTW, what do I have to do with unrepentant secessionists?

Nonsense

why not place him in a showglass and put him in the national museum so that generations to come can see the man who killed millions of his own people.mschew

The University Of Nigeria Nsukka should be named after him. In my opinion, it should be called Chukwuemeka Ojukwu University of Nigeria-COUN, Nsukka.

Well if he died Nigeria and was re-itted in to the Nigeria army and his benefits granted him he should be amongst the unknown soldiers, who have died in this country. That monuments already exist accross the nation. That said if it is to him as a biafran leader or Igbo leader/warrior,there are vast places and things to name after him in the eastern part. Some people suggested UNN Nsukka,That university no dey like to change name o!they have resisted such in the past.It is a sticky one.But if it is possible i do feel it would be good sha.
Anyway MASSOB and Ohaneze can sort that out within the SE or SS and honor him.

A monument to a man who

a) Fought to divide Nigeria

b) Essentially, went silent after the 1960's defeat, as he near never really contributed much else to helping develop the Eastern States, and people many are convinced he was ionate about.

c) Lived in Nigeria all this while but near never contributed to anything else, even in his home town and State or any of the Surrounding States

d) Made little contributions in the area of politics or social development in the 70's, 80's, 90's, early 2000's --- the past almost 40 years?

Yes, he needs a monument and so also all every individual who fought either sides of the civil war. Yes,  they all need a monument each  in Abuja, and I the move for, how many again, millions of monuments to those who fought for and against Nigeria in the 1960s.
