Only because the countries there are heavily dependent on imported goods to survive, you can never see South Africa or Egypt on a list like this.. if you kwn, you kwn

Open other ports in the country, they said cheesy

One would assume only Lagos ports are functional.

Onne port must be one of those Lagos/SW ports because no other ports are allowed to function outside Lagos/SW grin
Believe those propagandists and liars at your peril

So Onne has seen the highest investment over the past decade - the same period when south easterners on here have relentlessly claimed that there has been no investment in any other port outside Lagos for the purpose of depriving them of import opportunities.

Of course persons like myself have always resisted this boldfaced lie.

This, friends, is the beautiful thing about the truth. At its own time, it shows itself and exposes lies.

So, southeastern friends, what is the truth about this marginalisation you people love to sing about? Does it really exist?

We are still waiting for completion and commencement of Ibom deep sea port after how many years now? These governments are not telling us something we need to know.

We can boast of the biggest ports. But let's ask ourselves ... who is paying for their construction? ...who are running the ports? ... are the ports used mainly for importation of foreign products? ...or export of local products? If local products ... are they exported by local companies or foreign companies? Are these ports really beneficial to us? ...or to facilitate the exploitation of our natural resources?

I'm currently in Onne Ports as I type this. I just showed this writeup to some guys around, and they all busted out in laughter.

It's only on the internet that you will read that the road in front of your father's house is now an 8-lane expressway. Whereas you're standing in front of that same road, and even a bicycle can't through.

Let us continue.

Potopoto people will be very sad at seeing this stats.
They cants see any good news about nigeria and be happy.

Onisha river port have been in existence for over a decade now......yet no thing is happening there. If FG refuses to build it now, they will be shouting "marginalisation "

Wow, almost $3B for Onne port, Rivers state... But a lot of my Igbo friends on social media believe the FG isn't spending on ports close to the east because of marginalization...

Adequate information is very crucial in this life sha.

You are complete wrong

Ports are both for exports and imports.
Nigerian ports don't just import, they export as well.

Young man What those up there won't tell you is that onne port might have seen huge investment and also been built, they purposely made sure it doesn't function properly.

Any vessel coming in must go to Lagos.

Allow other ports to function properly and see

So China has lesser investments in their ports because they don't import? Port is for importation and exportation.

Your comment discloses a failure to understand the OP.

What is being referred to is developmental investment in ports and not value of goods which go through ports.

Ignorance is bliss sha.

This is talking about investment to develop ports.

Not the value of goods coming into all existing ports.

Other ports may be busier but not had need for investment to develop further
