Too bad, our investigation system is awful, a man was reported missing to the authorities, a dead body was taken by the police to the morgue. Police did not try to match the missing man to the dead body or at least the family to come and identify the corpse taken to morgue if it's that of the missing man. Same thing happened in the case of the Bamise lady that was murdered and thrown out of a BRT bus, Girl was declared missing, body of a lady was found and taken to the morgue but no one tried to see if it's that of the missing lady till the family find out while searching for her everywhere. I wonder what our Police mean when a person is reported missing and they said investigation is ongoing meanwhile nothing is being investigated. Corpses are being discovered and taken to the morgue but police won't try to see if the remains are that of the reported missing persons. At these Internet age with communication seamless, it shouldn't be hard for police to have pictures of corpse found on the streets taken and send to families who reported their loved ones missing for identification
It's a garbage police service. Only smart, private individuals can help them advance their skills. I can imagine a tech person deciding to create a repository of missing persons and also unidentified persons at morgues to help families connect the dots. That really could be something nice to do.

Maybe he loaned someone money so they decided to kill him to avoid repayment.

Or maybe he's a cultist since he is Benin.

It is this kind of reasoning that has made Nigeria the unofficial unsolved murder capital of the world.

Police saw a corpse, assuming they aren't the ones who made him a corpse, they did not search for clues, report the homicide, inform the press and start an investigation immediately. Instead, they dumped the corpse in a morgue and even the attendants also accepted it, no queries! The family also took the corpse, possibly paid for it's release and buried it!

Then we have people saying still like, maybe he's a cultist because of his place of origin?

My, oh my!!

What a country!

How come morgue attendants don’t take identities and details of those who bring in dead bodies to the morgue.
That means anybody that dresses like a police officer can kill people and dispatch their bodies to the morgue without being questioned.
This is sacrilegious. angry

Lagos is way safer than Abuja.

Once a detailed investigation commences, the clue on the killers will be revealed soon.

The crime rate is lower than Abuja by far even with it's population.

RIP to the young man.

And somebody will tell me that lagos is safer to live in, than ABUJA.

When a state legalized Agborism u don't know who blame in this kind of situation
Do you also noticed how the police, the dss, the efcc behave anyhow now compare to the past
You will know something is wrong but many people are not paying attention until they or someone they know becomes a victim

everything is upside down in this country... virtually everyone has contributed to the failure of the country.the police, the morgue, even the family of the deceased are all at fault here.infact everything is wrong with this country.

Exactly. it's risky out there.

And those unscrupulous people responsible for this young man's death will face their Karma in a worse way.

Police came to dump his copse without any proper details. You can't take dere pictures and the car plate no. What about CCTV Camera at the place and why dey rush to bury him without doing autopsy. Something is fishing

Probably a case of robbery gone wrong.

Robbery with deep machete cuts all over the body?

Someone had a serious beef with this guy.

The area Police around the morgue, the officers in charge of the beat closest to the morgue, the ranking bank official who cancelled the meeting and the friend he headed home with.

Easy-peasy investigation for even a rookie detective.

The mogue attendant received corpse from officers without knowing the details of the dead they received?
It's somehow

It's common in Nigeria where motor accident fatalities are brought to the morgue with no IDs. Relatives get lucky to find their loved ones by combing the city morgues.

A creditor will injure to kill, not to torture.

He likely offended someone, had information, knew too much or stirred up envy and jealousy.

Multiple, repeated injuries express malice, extreme measure to obtaining information or the desire to a message across.

To think this guy has already been buried without autopsy and a murder case file...
