JAMB, SOUTH-EAST & NIGERIA!

You need to see how I dashed to the airport and flew back into the country in a frenzy. Apart from that, I had other things I planned to do this Saturday. All plans had to be either cancelled or adjusted because of an unplanned JAMB resit. Enveloped in that confusion, I feel compelled to write this note as a South Easterner, as a mother and as a JAMB-affected person.

I have seen hands clapping for JAMB Registrar, Mr. Oloyede, for acknowledging the technological flaws in JAMB's test scoring systems and scheduling a resit for affected students... I abstained my hands from clapping when I realised that it was EDUCARE's ability campaigns that forced him into repentance. If not for Alex Onyia's EDUCARE, what we don't know is how long this has been happening, and how many people have suffered harm, without any detection nor consequence.

I once argued with my good friend, Funke, about the marginalization of the South-East (SE) which she claimed either doesn't exist or is grossly exaggerated. When NELFUND student loans were disbursed, SE students were omitted and some stories were told to explain away the omission. When FG borrowed $22.7 billion for infrastructure projects, SE was omitted and some stories told to explain away the omission. When FG constituted the Presidential Committee on 2025 Census, SE was omitted, and some stories were told to explain away the omission. Igbos are already used to political and economic omissions and exclusion and that's totally OK. We're used to it already!

It is deeply concerning that JAMB's tech glitches, again, predominantly affected students from the SE region and Lagos. People from the SE are expected to accept it as a mere glitch and just move on. Just like that!!!!! If you look further into details of the students affected in Lagos, they also come from the SE. This morning, I deliberately checked surnames of most of the JAMB-resit students, nearly all of them come from the SE. No matter what you make of these "governmental" omissions, exclusions and tech-imposed afflictions on South-Easterners, they don't look like coincidences to me. It's more systematic and structural than coincidental.

Finally, JAMB withheld results of over 40,000 students on the ground that they're "underaged". JAMB also announced in March 2025 that underaged students would only be enrolled into universities if they scored at least 280. In May, JAMB shifted the goal post to 320 and released the results of of only 467 students that crossed the mark. Why would JAMB allow underaged students to write JAMB in the first place only to withhold their results? Why collect money from underaged students and then blame them for being underaged? Why not restrain them from the entrypoint? Why shift the goal post in the middle of the game? Is JAMB merely a revenue mobilisation stream or an educational lever for Nigerian students?

I have no answers to these questions. But the recent revelations are quite enlightening. At least, the wounded, the targeted and the excluded will now gird up their loins and start shopping for alternatives that work for them. A stitch in time saves nine.

They couldn't bear it anymore, the reality of itting that a particular people will claim all the top prize in an examination done on a level playing field. It was too much for them to bear. They just had to try and stop them with any illegal means possible.

This is how Nigeria stopped the progress of Nigeria, thinking they are stopping the Igbo people.

The mere fact that JAMB has been failing Southeast candidates for yearS (Alex Onyia began his investigation in 2023 which led to this JAMB apology) not as a result of system failure or technical glitches but a clear case of HUMAN ERROR as established by a team of experts that worked together with JAMB officials to scrutinize the exam body, plus the fact that JAMB DID NOT voluntarily put a stop to this but was forced to do so by series of court actions and protests, clearly suggests that this was a deliberate act of ACADEMIC TERRORISM targeted at the Igbos.

To deny the ethnic angle to this devilish act is to subject our collective intelligence to ridicule.

Those who argue that the inclusion of Lagos neutralizes the ethnic angle are being smart by half because a quick check will reveal that even Lagos state has a very high population of Southeast kids, probably higher than the indigenous candidates

Those who are praising the JAMB Registrar for apologizing are exhibiting a criminal level of idiocy. How can you praise a criminal for apologizing for his crime merely BECAUSE HE WAS CAUGHT??

How can it be that out of the whole regions of the country, ONLY THE SOUTHEAST REGION was ENTIRELY affected by this?

How can JAMB claim not to have known that this was going on when they were supposed to carry out POST-EXAMINATION SYSTEM AUDIT after every examination??

So who now compensates millions of innocent kids whose academic future may have been ruined by this??

Why are southeast leaders keeping quiet over this systemic and systematic evil against the future of an entire generation??

How can shedding crocodile tears and asking the affected kids to go through the horror and trauma of re-taking the same exam they had previously taken, be seen as good enough for this magnitude of evil??

If Alex and co had not raised alarm, this would have continued for yearS and maybe decadeS

This country makes patriotism difficult, if not impossible.

This is very painful. I can't believe some Yorubas would take this hatred to this level. Very disheartening and demoralizing

*JAMB HAS GONE HAYWIRE* - PART TWO

My friend and his son left house 5:00AM today in order to catch up with the UTME at FUTO.

The driver insisted on a N10,000 charge. He lives in same neighbourhood with my friend and we believed it was the best option. Should he not show up, my friend would surely show up in his house at the agreed time to avoid any disappointment.

They arrived at FUTO 6:11AM, dropped the Jambite and left for work. At 8:35AM, the boy called to inform that they just realised the exam wasn't holding at FUTO. They were told the test had been moved to Alvan Ikoku University of Education.

The boy and his colleagues who were tense and perplexed, hopped on a bike in a distance they should have boarded a bus and zoomed off to find their way to the new venue. Of course, the bike men made a brisk business out of it and the forlorn Jambites paid heavily for such risky efforts.

By the time they got to Alvan Ikoku University, the 6:AM exam was over. Typical of the Nigerian system, the organisers scolded them on why they went to FUTO.

It was at this point, the boys noticed JAMB sent a message at the early hours of today (few hours to the commencement of the exam) that the venue had been changed to Alvan Ikoku University.

The organisers refused the boys ing the next set to sit for the exam, rather they opted to send a mail to JAMB headquarters notifying the board of the situation.

My friend's son is back home distraught, wandering what his fate had become.

The slip posting him to FUTO for the exam was sent on Thursday (yesterday); on Friday (today) being the day of the exam, another slip posted him to Alvan Ikoku University.

This is the shame Nigeria has become.

The South East Senate Caucus has expressed deep dissatisfaction over what it described as a “curious and highly suspicious” technical glitch that disrupted the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), particularly affecting all centres across the South East and some in Lagos.

In a strongly worded statement issued Saturday by the Chairman of the caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the lawmakers raised concerns about what they suggested could be a deliberate attempt to undermine the future of children from the region.

“It would be disheartening—and we hope not to contemplate such a conspiracy theory—that there is a narrow agenda being pursued to deliberately shortchange and harm the future of our children,” Abaribe stated.

The senators acknowledged the efforts made to address the situation, especially the rescheduling of the disrupted exams, and welcomed the public apology tendered by JAMB and its Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede. However, they warned that such disruptions must never happen again.

“The so-called glitch, as curious and suspicious as it were, is enough to erode confidence and dangerously lower national pride among the future generation,” Abaribe said. “That the glitch happened in the whole of the South East raises pertinent questions that must be answered by JAMB to assuage the growing frustrations and fears among our people.”

The lawmakers expressed concern that the apology and show of regret from JAMB may only be a smokescreen to cover deeper, potentially discriminatory intentions against the South East. They cautioned against injecting “hateful politics and narrow parochial considerations” into educational policy and its implementation.

Stressing the centrality of education to national development, the caucus declared that every Nigerian child deserves equal opportunity and must not suffer due to systemic failures or targeted negligence.

The South East Senate Caucus said it remains vigilant and under pressure from constituents, demanding an unequivocal assurance from JAMB and relevant educational authorities that such a “scandalous glitch” will not be repeated in future examinations.

It’s been 4 whole days since JAMB was forced by a combination of court action, public protests and evidence from private investigators to acknowledge responsibility for mass failure that affected candidates from all states of the southeast that sat for the 2025 JAMB examination. In response, the same JAMB hurriedly forced the traumatized victims to resit for the same Exam within 48 hours as against remarking the script.

According to Alex Onyia, the CEO of EDUCARE whose investigation exposed this ACADEMIC TERRORISM, even the re-scheduled exam was marred by (1) JAMB system error (2) System failure: computers freezing, crashing or lagging (3) Unresponsive invigilators (4) Poor center coordination and (4) Power/Network interruption.

Now, this post is not for lamentation because we have lamented enough. Because our leaders are our EMPLOYEES who are answerable to us, BEFORE THE END OF TODAY, WE WILL PUBLISH THE DETAILS OF ALL SOUTHEAST GOVERNORS AND THEIR EDUCATION COMMISSIONERS SO THAT WE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE THE REAL OWNERS OF THE POWER THEY ARE EXERCISING CAN: (1) Find out the reason for their CRIMINAL SILENCE over this issue and (2) ASK THEM TO HELP US FIND ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING TRENDING QUESTIONS:

1. JAMB claimed the mass failure was because out of the 2 clusters of LAGOS and KADUNA, the LAGOS cluster which consists of Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Lagos, KANO, KATSINA, JIGAWA, NIGER, KOGI and FCT had technical glitch because some person (s) failed to do the system patch for the cluster. So how how is it that out of the 12 states on the Lagos cluster, only the entire Southeast states and Lagos were affected? How did the glitch miss Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kogi, Niger and the FCT to focus on just Southeast and Lagos which if we dig deeper, we will discover the affected Lagos candidates are mostly Igbo (please don’t take Charles Ogbu’s word for it. Check the affected names in Lagos)

2. JAMB said they noticed this technical glitch when they had already conducted 16 sessions of the examination so they corrected the error and that made others have a smooth examination in LAG cluster. Why then did JAMB not inform the affected candidates, their parents and the entire public of the technical glitch? Why did they go ahead to announce the result and blame the candidates and their parents for the mass failure?

3. Did JAMB inform the minister of education and other relevant government authorities when they discovered this technical glitch during or after the exam, if they did inform them, at what point did JAMB inform them? Is there any official memo to back this up that they were informed?

4. If the minister was made aware of the technical glitch, why then did he claim that the reason for the mass failure was because JAMB had improved on their technology for detecting cheating? Does it mean the minister deliberately lied? How then do we trust what the minister says going forward? When will the minister apologise to the candidates, their parents and the entire nation for falsely labeling victims of his own machinations as exam cheats?

5. JAMB did an audit on Wednesday and the stakeholders said they could remark the examination within a day, why did they not go ahead to remark the examination and present the results to the public? Why did they have to fix the resit for Friday when the affected candidates were still psychologically traumatized?

6. Why has JAMB not said anything about those who had incomplete questions in the initial examination? Why is the focus only on those in LAG cluster affected by technical glitch?

By 5pm today, in line with our civic duty of holding our leaders ABLE, we will publish the details of the 5 Southeast Governors - Hope Uzodimma, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and Alex C. Otti plus their education commissioners (I have only the governors details so i will appreciate anyone who can forward me those of the education commissioners) to call and text them to find out why they are silent at this monumental injustice bordering on ACADEMIC TERR0RISM against an entire generation of Igbos. When we are done, we will come to our National Assembly , all of them (although I currently don’t have all their s)

We Should Never Allow This Injustice To Stand

This JAMB mess runs far deeper and wider than most people thought.

After repeatedly evading the all important question of which and how many states are in LAGOS cluster and how many are in KADUNA cluster, the JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Okoro finally clarified that:

1. The whole country is divided into two clusters: KADUNA and LAGOS

2. The KADUNA cluster consists of ALL Northern states EXCLUDING Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Niger, Kogi and FCT but including all SouthSouth states (just to not give the impression of dividing the country into NORTH versus SOUTH

3. The LAGOS cluster consists of ALL Southern states EXCLUDING southsouth stateS but INCLUDING some Northern states like Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Niger, Kogi and the FCT ( check my first comment for link to the Twitter Space hosted by Alex Onyia two days ago)

In other words, the Lagos cluster consists of ALL southwest states and all southeast states plus 6 Northern states.

But somehow,

The so-called error avoided over 12 states in the southwest and North to focus only on the Southeast and Lagos??

If you are listening, kindly scroll past the part where Osita Chidoka was embarrassing himself in the name of defending JAMB until some participants comfronted him. Just scroll to the 26th minutes and start from there

The Lagos cluster consists of 12 states namely: Enugu, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Lagos, KANO, KATSINA, JIGAWA, NIGER, KOGI and the FCT. And it is managed by one vendor.

Read it here in this tweet from Alex Onyia the CEO of EDUCARE whose investigation exposed this ACADEMIC TERRORISM against Igbo kids.

Now ask yourself, How come the so-called glitch or human error CAREFULLY and CONVENIENTLY avoided those other Northern states like Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Kogi, Niger and the FCT, all of which are ON THE SAME LAGOS CLUSTER but for some reasons, it affected ALL southeast states?

Like I said, we have agonized enough. It is now time to ORGANIZE and force our so-called leaders to speak out. Once I get the details of ENUGU and ABIA state EDUCATION COMMISSIONERS, we are releasing them all together with those of our governors to be followed by those NASS we purportedly sent to represent us in Abuja. In my view, their silence on this issue and other grave existential issues is simply criminal. Someone please inbox me Enugu and Abia state education commissioners so we can start immediately
