Representation.

Representation is important in armed forces around the world. Various countries use different means to ensure representation in their armed forces.

In the United States you need to be nominated by your senator, member of Congress or the vice president of the US before you can attend any military university. This is to ensure that of Congress fight for their constituents to be represented in the armed forces.

In the UK they have specific military units for specific ethnic groups. You have the Scots Guards, the Welsh Guards, etc.

In Nigeria each state has a quota and state governments encourage their citizens to fill the quota.

The reason it has been in the news in recent times is because some states are unable to fill their quota. The military receives less applications from these states and it is much less than the assigned quota. So the authorities want to encourage more people from these states to the military (so that there will be no cry of marginalisation in future).

You are not hearing about the other institutions because they don't have problems filling their quota.
Since quotas are used why not use tge same quotas in lucrative positions in NNPC, CBN, etc?
When it gets to avenue to die, Nigeria re quotas.

Shut up this rabble ro. They are not in shortage of staff in NNPC because of their secret recruitments that steal SE quota in favour of other regions. Let them steal SE quota in the Army as they are accustomed to doing. Why the noise?
Stop being ignorant! I just told you the truth you don't want to hear. NNPC, CAC and Army are all federal agencies that are bound by the same law and constitution for recruitment exercise. So, far you have no valid issable evidences at court of law to back your claim, you are still categorized under making mere speculations.

If your law gives NNPC permission to make secret recruitment as federal agency, then; army also follow same suit, but at moment weather secretly or publicly recruitment failed at moment in the south east because ipob wasted lots of able youths as ESN that failed to achieve Biafra, but encountered unexpected and unripe death since they failed to surrender to army, police or government when they were called upon to do so. Ikonso that was killed as one of the zonal leaders of ESN and his would have properbly been alife and interested in ing army or police, but they get themselves wasted without achieving or near Biafra's flag post.

Many courageous and bold youths that like army or police like jobs are gone, many were bombed in their hideout in the ir forest camps, many more were killed trying to attack police or army, some were killed through public jungle justice, some were killed as saboteurs by other versions of ipobs killing themselves then. Can you count how many ESN, Ipob killed? Off course, you will agree they were many.

If those population of ESN and ipobs are alife today, wouldn't will have many that will be interested in ing army and police since many of them were jobless and brainwashed? I just show you greatest contribution to youth shortages for army and police recruitment. I am not forcing you to believe, but that is the truth and major factor. It is not the only factor, but major reason for shortages

sreamsense:

That is only the self-consolation message of deceit you like to hear if you want to deceive yourself.

Why is army begging?

Army is begging because their is shortage of able men that could apply from Biafran.

What caused shortages of able men from Biafra land since they were always over applied before?

Shortages occured after many able men that Kanu showed their huge population some where in the bushes recruiting them as ESN to fight for Biafra as ipob. Many of these men were killed in their bush hideout by army. More of these youths were also killed targeting police and army. Some were killed by jungle justice from people when they enforce Stay at Home in some public places.

Were the same army begging south west and north west youths to army?

No, because nobody deceived or wasted their youths for any futureless biafra, there was no shortages among them unlike among Biafrans that ipob wasted able youths.

Are their reasons for NNPC, CBN and CAC to beg south east youths for employment ?

There is no need since their is no shortage in numbers of those that apply there either from south east, south west or from north. These were not the people bombed in their bush camps, killed in the public as ESN . So, the population of these agencies are not affected. Application to these agencies remain competitive as usual.

The government does do adverts for cbn, nimasa , etc and they fill them by quota.

The reason why they do not beg is that such jobs for places like that are oversubscribed

Take NNPC..some years ago, NNPC d for jobs. 45000 applied for 6500 jobs

Naturally many people would lose out, and some.of those people will.spread rumors that politics and tribe is why they lost out.

Army meanwhile , which also runs on.quota, is not getting some states to fill their quota hence the begging.

My old posts.

naptu2:
Here's an example of what I wrote about some years ago. Some people love to project this view that recruitment into the Armed Forces is skewed to favour the North. The fact of the matter, as I wrote back then, is that all states have an equal quota for recruitment into the Armed Forces and its up to the state governments to encourage their citizens to fill up their quota.

The only time that there was briefly an uneven quota was in the First Republic and that was done in order to correct an imbalance. At that time there were more Northerners in the Other Ranks cadre than people from other regions and more Easterners in the Officer cadre than people from other regions and the quota was used to equalise things.

Click on this link below and you'll see the Lagos State Government's efforts to ensure that citizens of Lagos fill up its quota

As I said back then, this quota system is implemented in the United States by ensuring that nobody can be itted into the United States military academies unless they have a nomination from their senator or from the Vice President of the US (this means that senators fight to ensure that their constituencies are equally represented).

I have created many posts about this issue on this thread, so I am not going to give more explanations.

Some people claim that certain states are being favoured in military recruitment, but that's not true. Rather, Nigeria (like many other countries) has put in place measures to ensure that we have a truly national armed forces. Like I told you before, in the US you must be nominated by a senator before you can attend any of their military academies and senators fight to ensure that their states are properly represented.

In Nigeria, each state has a quota, in order to ensure that all states are properly represented and each state fights to ensure that its citizens are well represented in the Armed Forces. I have previously given you examples of Lagos State's efforts.

It was noticed that Enugu State was not able to fill its quota, so the Enugu State Government invited senior military officers and had a campaign to encourage its citizens to the military.

Hypocritical take on the issue at hand
Talking about representation
How many Igbos have been COAS, CAS and CNS since 1970?
Not up to five in the three arms of service. Just a state in the North - Niger State - can boast a record better than that.
Let the discussion start from there.

Isn't that why the military and state governments are trying to convince Igbos to the military??

Do you think you can have representation in high places if Igbos don't the military??
