If you consider the quality of the food, eating out is more expensive.

So if you spend 5k to cook at home, you finish the food at a go? I am not understanding this..

Because I know whenever I eat out, I spend nothing less than 3500 to 4k eating Amala and ogunfe but whenever I have someone come cook for me, I spend at least 6-10k to get the dishes ready and it takes me nothing less than 3-5 days before I finish it.

So tell me how...

From my experience, if you stay alone, eating out is cheaper. If you doubt it, calculate the actual cost of preparing a meal, check how many times you will eat that meal and then compare how much it will cost you to buy that number of plates of the same quality of meal outside.

Further more, consider the time and labor cost.
You go to the market to buy food stuff
Prepare to cook
Do the cooking.
Be cleaning while cooking.
Go out to a nearby shop to buy something you forgot to buy in the market.
Finish cooking.
Wash the dishes after eating.

All these after buying food stuff with your money o
Meanwhile if you go to a restaurant, all you do is eat and leave.

So gents, eating out is way cheaper.

Have you also considered the neatness of the preparation and other factors associated?
Restaurants will buy tomatoes that has rotten to cook for you
Some mama put also cook charms with their soup...it doesn't matter whether you believe or not

Well hygienically prepared food is the most important thing to consider when preparing a meal, and you will hardly get that in a restaurant.

I believe your eating habits influence how expensive it is to cook at home or eat out. Personally, I cook once a week and that’s on Saturdays, I prepare up to two or three meals and store them in my fridge. Here in Lagos, a good meal can cost between 7K to 8K per plate. If I eat twice a day, that’s about 16K daily, which adds up significantly over a week. In the end, I find cooking at home to be the more cost-effective option.

If one hour means 50k to you, you will not mind to spend 5k to eat out.

When you say eating out is cheaper, I would say depending on the restaurant you're eating, because to get a good quality meal is around 4k to 5k for a plate, so I'm of the opinion of cooking at home but in little quantities

Eating outside isn't good, did you know what the Iya Amala is using secretly to boost her sales??
Some would use mortuary water to cook and some would do something on their pot, how would you know??

Except for some big restaurant, it's not advisable -- it's not good for your spiritual health... Only those in the spirits would understand what I'm saying here😁

Hence, eating outside is very expensive. I come in peace💯

Peace be unto you

If you're someone like me that works from home, you will agree that cooking in your house is more expensive as you will eat more.

But if you are 9-5, eating out is cheaper.

I fit cook 5cups of rice now, before evening I don finish am, come dey fine food to chop again.

You are lazy to do things for yourself, but u forget to consider if the person washing the plates u use ti eat out too is lazy
U might be eating in some not very clean plates as u would do it for urself
If u have a freezer and microwave
It is always cheaper to cook at home be it for only you or the family
The volume of rice u eat outside, u can never serve urself at home
Coupled with hygiene
Doing it all by yourself

Once upon a time, there was a time that cooking and eating at home was more economical compared to eating out.

We did not appreciate those at the helm of power as of then, we insulted them and chose change. See where we are today, see what the change has brought us today. The change we so much asked for.

Prices of food and its ingredient have all blown over the roof top.

Eating at home is now extremely, in fact more expensive than eating outside.

Sometimes I wonder what legacy will be left for generation to come.

My bro, this only leave you with one guess that we never had it good in this country. Look at the time Mr Idris sang the song 'Nigeria Jaga Jaga' you will agree with me that for those who are old enough to know what was going on then that they were yearning for moment and regime before that.

End of quote, our train is plying a destroyed and defect track and it can never balance until the platform at which it moves is reconstructed/restructured for it to be steady and take us to the rightful destination

Are you saying that food you cooked with 5k is consumed on a go,at once,? How Na ?
HeatSeeker:

I totally agree with you. I live alone. Whenever I want to cook, I spend nothing less than 5k. But if I eat out, it's never more than 3k. I did the math and realized that I am better off eating out than cooking food for myself.

U have to caution yourself
Imagine if ur kids have to keep cooking cos u have a bag of rice and all other food stuff in the house
You need to discipline urselves
Its very important

Eating out at a moderate restaurant(not expensive one), is cheaper than cooking for a single individual.

But for a group, maybe a family of 4 or more then it becomes cheaper to cook at home.

Many people just assume that it is always cheaper to cook at home,,
And it is very untrue.

But the time you calculate

The beef
The fish
The tomatoes
The onions
The salt and Maggi
The rice or beans or yam
The oil

DO NOT FORGET TO ADD THE COOKING GAS BECAUSE NO BE AIR DEY COOK THE FOOD.

For one person alone, cooking is more expensive but for family, eating out is more expensive.
