Change your backward mindset so that Nigeria can be better.
So a sitting governor should be loyal and answerable to one greedy man you call his "Oga" instead of the people that elected him.
That is why one mysterious druggie has held you guys to ransom for 26 years.

This is where you get it wrong!
Who told you his people elected him?

Someone that was relatively private and was forced on the people by his master Wike.

Can he win a local government election on his own?

Both Sim and Wike and one and the same. I don't care what happens between both. They should settle their scores and continue looting. Period.

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Port Harcourt following a two-week vacation overseas according a video obtained by News360 Nigeria

The governor, who has been at the center of a heated political crisis in the state, arrived back in the country on Thursday.

His return comes amid ongoing tensions between opposing political factions in Rivers State and speculations about the next phase of his political future.

Reports indicate that in the early days of his trip abroad, Governor Fubara met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the United Kingdom, shortly before the president returned to Nigeria.

While details of their meeting remain undisclosed, it is believed to have centered around efforts to resolve the prolonged political standoff in Rivers State.

Additionally, several sources have disclosed that Governor Fubara, during his stay in Abuja before traveling out, privately visited the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, at his residence.

The meeting, reportedly brokered by Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, saw Fubara tender an apology to his predecessor and estranged political ally in a bid to ease tensions between both camps.

All politicians will be out of power one day. If not that this country is useless, what should have been the big deal in being out of power?
In 10 years time maximum, you will see what Wike would have become too
Politics is very lucrative and profitable in Nigeria this why. D you know how much he controls as a governor? Nobody, not even you will want to let go of such a privilege

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Nigeria politics don't have joy at all.

Because Nigerians don’t have joy at all for their politicians to work for them.

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events.

He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics.

The slowpoke doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.”

Farage’s party making big gains in local British elections

The right-wing Reform UK has won control of ten of 23 local authorities up for grabs

Reform UK party leader Nigel Farage is seen celebrating with ers after Reform UK took control of Durham County Council after winning more than half of the seats

The right-wing Reform UK party has won 677 out of more than 1,600 seats in England’s local elections, while the Labour and the Conservative parties suffered heavy defeats across the country.

As results began to trickle in on Friday, the party led by firebrand and Brexit proponent Nigel Farage emerged as the strongest performer in contests held in 23 local authorities across England, winning control of ten councils. These included eight taken from the Conservatives – Derbyshire, Kent, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, North Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and West Northamptonshire — along with Doncaster from Labour and Durham, where no party previously had a majority.

Reform also won hard-fought parliamentary by-elections in Runcorn and Helsby, snatching victory from Labour by just six votes after a recount. As a result, the party now controls five seats in the UK Parliament.

Farage’s Reform UK overtakes Labour in poll for first time

According to a BBC projection, if a general election were held today, Reform UK would receive 30% of the vote, ahead of Labour at 20% and the Conservatives at 15%. However, the next general election is not due until May 2029. The last one was held last year and saw Labour secure a landslide victory, riding a wave of public dissatisfaction with the economic policies of the Tories.

Commenting on his party’s strides, Farage remarked: “In post-war Britain, no one has ever beaten both Labour and the Tories in a local election before. These results are unprecedented… Reform can and will win the next general election.”

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that while he felt a “sharp edge of fury,” he said he understood the voters’ choice while promising to “go further and faster in pursuit of… national renewal.” Meanwhile, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch bluntly acknowledged that the elections were a predictable “bloodbath,” stressing that the Tories must continue work to rebuild trust in the party.

Reform UK’s rise has been driven by voter frustration over high levels of immigration, the rising cost of living, and what many see as years of mismanagement by both major parties. The party campaigned heavily on promises to cut migration – including by small boat crossings – lower taxes, and reduce council spending, positioning itself as the only alternative to what it calls “a failed political establishment.”
