This is concerning news. Nigeria is failing to meet its obligation to supply a specified amount of electricity to the Republic of Niger. If Niger proceeds with damming the River Niger, it could result in a complete loss of electricity for us. This situation is reminiscent of the issues Egypt is facing with its neighboring countries.




The agreement between Nigeria and Niger concerning the River Niger includes provisions for electricity supply. Nigeria has been supplying electricity to Niger as part of a bilateral agreement aimed at fostering cooperation and preventing the need for Niger to dam the River Niger

There is an MOU agreement between Niger Republic and Nigeria that says that Niger Republic should not dam or block the water in River Niger that flows through their country so that Nigeria would use the water to generate electricity and in turn supply some to Niger Republic.
If tis action by Nigeria is true, then Niger republic now has the right to construct a dam over River Niger; and Kainji dam would go dry in weeks. Then Nigerians will realize the foolishness in this act when the time comes

Nigeria is not in any fix, agreements are until they are not especially if it was made in bad fate.
The eletricity supply should be cut to 2% not 40% and Niger can now build their own dam if there’s any truth to the so called agreement and it’s not a scam.
