I t means that importers of American goods to Zimbabwe will no more pay duties (I . e tariffs) at the Zimbabwean port before they clear their goods. Trump also says if that is done, he will also remove tariffs for Zimbabwean exporters who export to American markets.

For example you sell cow and i sell tomatoes. to sell you cow in my country i add 20% tarriff thus Cows from your countries are too expensicve and will not sell. howwever my tomatoes are selling in your country without any additional tarriff. look at tarriff like an additional tax.

It won’t be a wise move for Nigeria, our trade volume is huge to the benefit of US , Trump tariffs will reduce our purchasing power of American goods , that will bring increase in Korean and Chinese goods , it will even help the Naira against the dollar because it will reduce our direct dollar spending to the US, at the long run, Trump regret his move , there are counter policies against his moves , some he would later regret

Nigeria should work on security and power , then implement a policy that says major companies must produce here if you want to sell your product here, this will reduce importations , increase local production and create employment

If USA impose 20% tarrif on yam that comes from your country, it means: if you bring the Yam to usa at N100, American will have to by it at ₦120 (govt take the 20% on top). So, the higher the govt tariff on whatever you bring to usa the high the selling price, and the lesser the people that want to buy your product, especially if that product is also produced in the USA without the exorbitant govt tariffs.

So Zimbabwe govt has tarrif on good imported from usa, and now that USA also put tarrifs on good imported from Zimbabwe, there is possibility that Zimbabwe products will not sell in USA again. If Zimbabwe product is no more selling in the USA as a big boy market, economically Zimbabwe may be in terrible trouble.

So, Zimbabwe has suspended all tarrif on USA products so that USA can do the same to their product, as trump has said it will henceforth be reciprocal.
