Paul Chukwuma dumps APC, keeps mum on next move By OGEMDI OZOEMENAM, Awka Critical stakeholders and of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, have been thrown into confusion as top governorship contender, Sir Paul Chukwuma resigned from the party less than 24 hours to the governorship primaries in the state. This hard decision left many to wonder about his next move. Chukwuma, a former National Auditor of the APC, communicated his resignation in a letter addressed to his Ward Chairman, Umueri Ward 2, Anambra East, dated March 3, 2025. In the letter, he also announced his withdrawal from the APC primary election, affirming that his for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s istration and the Renewed Hope agenda remains unchanged. The announcement came after a series of intense consultations with friends and loyalists, which continued late into Friday night. It is worth noting that the APC in Anambra State has been embroiled in internal turmoil since the controversial conduct of the last Ward Delegate election. Aspirants and party have repeatedly accused the state and national leadership of favoring a new entrant in the party. Earlier, some of the party alleged that the Delegate List for Saturday’s primary election had been manipulated to benefit the same aspirant. In his resignation letter to the Ward Chairman, Chukwuma wrote: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).” “My decision reflects my quest to connect Anambra State to national politics by building a broader, more inclusive political movement within the state in of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.”he said . Chukwuma however expressed gratitude for the leadership shown by the Ward Chairman, adding: “While thanking you for your leadership over the years, be assured of my continued for your shared progressive ideas. I will now devote more time to pursuing the realization of a safe and prosperous Anambra state of our dreams.”he stated. He ended the letter with a cordial note: “Kindly accept my highest regards.” However, Chukwuma did not comment on whether he would continue to contest the gubernatorial election on November 8, 2025, with another party or not. “Let me take some time to rest and evaluate what I have done so far before making a decision," he added. Chukwuma, who has been active in the political arena for over 20 years, noted that this period of rest is necessary before he takes a final stand on his next political move.###
