A traitor like ojukwu should have been caught on charges of treason and executed.

Yoruba man, it comes as no surprise that you want Ikemba executed! It's not today your ilk started despising Ndigbo! Your hate is ingrained and dates to as far back as the 60s! I make bold to say that just two or three Yoruba were directly or indirectly responsible for the state murder of millions of Igbo/Biafrans! Not even the Fulani have murdered the number of Igbo your ilk have murdered. You sit there and yap glibly about executing Ojukwu for 'treason' in a perverse, corrupt, dysfunctional and captured state such as Nigeria is, yet it's lost on you that your own leader, Awo, was actually convicted by your own Nigerian state for treason!

It's 2025 and you guys are still celebrating the construction of a road in a country of over 250 million? grin grin How's this an achievement? Just a road that I"m pretty sure one rainfall would damage, built by your tax money. The bar is really low for you Nigerians.

Your choice of moniker is abusive towards Mazi Kanus' father; you direct abuse and blame for the pogrom and state murder of Ndigbo/Biafrans at Ikemba; you NEVER speak up for Ndigbo against the cheating, injustice, human rights abuses and murder visited on them by the evil Nigerian state....all this and more, yet you want us to take your word for it that you're Igbo! Dude, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, glides on water like a duck.....in all likelihood it's a duck!

I am speaking for the millions of Igbos that died because of rash decision of Ojukwu, don't you think the lives of those people matter? No matter the injustice at the time, it was not enough for Ojukwu to lead ndigbo into a civil war he had no resources to prosecute.
I am not trying to put him down a peg by any , just trying to set the records straight as a diligent student of history and get my fellow Igbos on the part of critical thinking instead of rash emotive reactions which have never benefited us.

I don't know Kanu's father.

As for MNK, he is a noise-making charlatan who thinks he is somebody , fighting for his own pockets with zero interest for ndigbos welfare, since his emergence, there have been bloodshed and mayhem in the SE with no noticeable progress.
Kanu has the emotional intelligence of a 10yr old and I say this with no intentions at malice.

Kanu, is where he rightfully belongs.

Then Anambra state university named after Chinua Achebe... Chinua Achebe belongs to the Academia while Ojukwu is a statesman...most airports are named after statesmen, ex presidents and freedom fighters

Imagine entering this beautiful airport and being greeted by a giant statue of Ojukwu in his military uniform... A true Hero of Ndi Igbo.

What a load of utter bullshit! It's easy to spot the Igbo-hating impostors i've come across in the past, no matter how many times you change moniker!

Dude, NO IGBO, never mind one that purports to be a 'diligent student of history', would come to a forum such as nairaland and say the bolded....especially given the benefit of hindsight that now allows them see what Ikemba was trying to save Ndigbo/Biafra from all those years ago! Declaring Biafra was not Ikembas' preferred option neither was it his first action after the pogrom in the north that lasted for weeks and which the northern controlled Nigerian state was UNWILLING to stop! Even after the first wave of pogrom mass murders, Ikemba still believed Nigeria was a just society capable of protecting his people that he adviced them they would be protected in the north after he sought for and got assurances from the decietful Gowon gov't! It proved to be a costly mistake for him and those who believed Gowons empty assurances as the mass murder of Igbo in the north continued and gained momentum!

Ikemba declared secession only AFTER the Gowon gov't reneged on the Aburi accord both sides signed up to in Ghana! Gowon had already proven to be a liar and a deceitful character...one not to be trusted, and reneging on the accord was yet another warning to Ikemba that the safety of his people could not be guaranteed in Nigeria! You talk as if he was just itching to declare secession!

Only cowards would go through what Ndigbo went through at the time and not fight back! And Ndigbo are no cowards! How can anyone who claims to be Igbo in 2025 argue with the benefit of hindsight that Ndigbo shouldn't have fought for their survival in 1967-70? Even if they may have had doubts in 1967, they have no excuse in 2025 having seen the true nature of those who led the fight on the federal side! The pre-war pogrom aside, the pure evil and wickedness these people showed they were capable of from 1967-70 is enough to make any true Igbo/Biafran cringe and the action of Ikemba in declaring secession in 1967.

All Mazi Kanu said would happen is happening today...not just to Ndigbo, but to ALL Nigerians! He was the mouthpiece that spoke truth to the hegemonic alliance that, through their actions and inactions, has brought us all to where we find ourselves today! Besides them wanting to extract their pound of flesh from Mazi Kanu, they're illegally detaining him because they are terrified of his broadcasts that allows naive Nigerians see the true nature and intent of their oppressors in and around gov't! Since 2015, criminal sahelian elements have brought their trail of death and destruction down to the entire southern Nigeria, and it was your impostor ilk who were cheering the Buhari gov't when he sent his murderous Fulani army down to the south-east to confront the ESN that Mazi Kanu bravely set up to protect his people. Now that your federal gov't has succeeded in disrupting ESNs vigilante activities, the attacks by these sahelian vermin has not stopped but has intensified! You sit in the relative comfort and safety of your house to abuse and criticise Mazi Kanu, IPOB and ESN, but have no response to the imported insecurity the south-east is faced with! Yet you have the temerity to abuse someone brave enough to get up and actually try to do something!

Before the despot Buhari declared his python dance in the south-east, can you point to any 'bloodshed and mayhem' linked to or cause by Mazi Kanu and/or IPOB? Also, care to tell us in clear how Mazi Kanu 'enriched himself' through IPOB?

You are incapable of rational thoughts my friend and right now, you are thinking with your emotions.

SECCESSION IS AN ACT OF WAR!

Ojukwu knew it that and still went ahead to secede dragging ndigbo to a needless war. To add insult to injury, he even ran AWAY with his family and the returned to contest for the presidency of the very country he fought against. Dude had no sense of shame at all and I feel disgusted whenever Bianca is given any important government position.

Can you imagine? My uncle was a child when he was dragged into the war and OJUKWU, a full adult choose to run away from the war he started. That is a cowardice that is unforgivable in my dictionary.

I will never forgive my biological father if he started a war that unalived millions of people and, ran away to save his own life after millions have died.
The real reason for Biafra war was because of Ojukwu's lust for power, he really wanted to be head of state at all cost, he was power hungry and never cared for the lives of the average Igbo person. What exactly has Ojukwu done for the average Igbo person since after the war?

If Ojukwu had stayed behind and died in the war, I would have forgiven him a bit and no matter the progrom Ndigbo ed through, you don't use an hammer to kill a fly that perched on your scrotum. Common sense dictates you do not create a bigger problem to solve a lesser one. Ndigbo did not give him the mandate to drag them into a senseless war and my job is to hold him able.

I know you hate the truth.

The bolded cracked me up! grin grin You talk as if your would recognise rational thought even if it walked up to you and punched your lights out!

You keep on exposing your impostor 'one Nigeria' status with each subsequent post you make! Dude, if you reckon 'secession is an act of war' then what are your thoughts on a gov't standing by and watching as tens of thousands of its citizens are targeted for murder (raped and murdered, beheaded, disembowelled...sometimes with unborn foetuses cut out from the stomach of pregnant women, and God knows what else) on the basis of their ethnicity and religion? A pogrom that lasted FOR WEEKS doesn't with your impostor ass as being a existential threat worth seeking secession for, but what pricks your interests and gets you mad is the act of secession!? Dude, your posts would have been hilarious if they weren't so tragic!

You see what you're doing in your daft post? You're actually blaming the vicims who had their backs to the wall and were fighting back for survival, while saying little or nothing of the murderous agressors! You're making the same 'arguments' a Igbo-hating Nigerian would make to try and cast Ikemba in a bad light! This is why i say you're not Igbo! You offend reason!

Ndigbo/Biafrans were fighting for their survival and unfortunately some who may not quite have reached adulthood found themselves in the war effort! This is what was brought on us by the evil Nigerian state controlled at the time by the murderous feudal north! Ikemba DID NOT RUN AWAY FROM THE WAR as you lie! A decsion was made by the Biafra side to end the war when it became impossible to continue the fight, and Ojukwu handed over command to Phillip Effiong who was to meet the Nigerian side. Ojukwu rightly left the country after handing over to his 2nd in command, and if i were in the room as this was being discussed i would have also adviced Ojukwu to leave as well! It doesn't take a vivid imagination to know what the murderous feudalist controlled federal side would have done had they got their hands on Ikemba! You only need to see what they did to Aguiyi Ironsi to know it was not civilised human beings we were dealing with! Even till today, their reputation for vengeance and bloodshed is unparalled in the annals of Nigerian history!

You see that second bolded part? I've actually seen a number of Yoruba posters make this same argument on this forum! Just how did you arrive at the conclusion that Ikemba was 'lusting for power'? And while you're at it, also tell us how Mazi Kanu used IPOB to 'enrich' himself, and what 'destruction and death' IPOB and/or Mazi Kanu brought to the south-east BEFORE the despot Buhari declared his ill-fated python dance!

So because ten's of thousands of ndigbos were killed, it was ok to start a war that killed millions of Igbos right? Help me to understand your inverted logic.
Tell me why Ojukwu's life was more important than those of the little boys he drafted into the Biafran's soldier? This is a topic i am very ionate about and I have a first hand from those in the war.

Aguiyi Ironsi was supposed to execute all coup plotters regardless of their ethnicity. That is the military law for planning a coup and every sooldiers knows this. Why did Ironsi not execute all the coup plotters of Eastern Extractions, you see, he lost his life because he failed to do his duties plain and simple.

Dude, you're deliberately misinterpreting my argument and going off on a tangetial hike!

At what point did i argue 'it was ok for Ojukwu to start a war'? At what point did i even say 'Ojukwu started the war'? My position is that the war was brought to Ndigbo/Biafra not the other way round, and that when one is pushed to the wall and sees the state is either unwilling or incapable of protecting him and his family, he has no option but to fight back! This was the position Ndigbo/Biafra found themselves in during the events that led up to the uncivil war!

Let me see if i get your position correctly....you're saying that to prove his life was not more important than the lives of the soldiers that fought for the survival of their people, that he should have handed himself over to the Fulani controlled Nigerian gov't for torture and murder....with them possibly recording proceedings for their own sick pleasure and to try and cause maximum embarrassment to the Igbo nation? Is this what youre saying? And do you have comprehension challenges not to have noticed where i earlier alluded to the fact that the events of the time led to some unfortunate situations like having some who were not yet into adulthood finding themselves involved in the war effort? Dude, there are actions forced on one owing to a fight for survival, then there is outright malevolence and evil born out of wickedness, xenophobia and religious fanaticism!

You are way over your head if you think you are talking to a DUNCE.

A deliberate act of declaring secession was the official declaration of war. Ojukwu declared a secession, Ojukwu officially started the war based on his EMOTIONS!

It does not matter what happened that led to the war as there were alternatives avenues that would have been explored before declaring a secession. By declaring a secession, Ojukwu declared a war with Nigeria. If you don't know this simple fact, then I am better off discussing with a goat.

If I have to fight for the survival of my people, I will not do so to the detriment of my people and most importantly, I will not start a war, have people die and, run away. Over a million people died in Igbo land for chrissake and we were set back by more 50 years. MNK has started the drums of war again from the confort
