Civilization reached the West and East earlier than other regions of Nigeria but there continued to be senseless tussle of supremacy.

Nnamdi Azikiwe’s educational profile is as follows:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Lincoln University in 1930.
Masters degree in Religion and Philosophy from Lincoln University in 1932.
Masters degree in Anthropology from University of Pennsylvania's in 1933.
He was a Doctoral candidate at Columbia University in 1934 before returning to Nigeria.
He was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Liberia.

Nnamdi Azikiwe is by far senior to Awolowo and thus couldn’t have benefited from Awolowo’s educational policies in the SW. He obtained his degrees long before Awolowo became a politician.

The SW statistics is up to 70% because of the older generation of them who benefited from Awolowo’s free education policy. The younger generation of SWner are grossly undereducated and are fast becoming area boys and miscr*ants who are a menace to society and internet.

Fake list written and produced in your one room.
Anybody with minimal knowledge in ICT can produce this kind of list.

According to the NUC website which can be accessed seamlessly by any interested researcher, there is now a shift and a takeover by the Northerners as the Igbos are pushed off the sidewalk of Professorship into the 3rd position in the rank of who has the higher number of Professors between the two educational gladiators.

SW still continues to be the stallion and champion of Education in Nigeria as the number of their Professors is almost triple that of the Igbos according to the Directory of full Professors in Nigerian Universities.
Kudos to the gallant Igbos just as the Northerners are also heralded into the second position of Professorial hierarchy in Nigeria.

We igbos should be ashamed of ourselves are are 26.6 % of the igbo population that are not literate? .. This is shameful honestly

There is absolutely nothing to celebrate here

Japanese have a literacy rate of 99%
Israel has 91 %
Germans 99%
Russia is 99.69%
Chinese is 95%
Even Ghana is 80.1%

This is absolutely rubbish.. We need to bury our head in shame and work harder

The Edo that you see neck and neck with Igbo are mostly the Esan, Afamai and Ogbona people, who are actually related to Igbos if you study ancient Idu Kingdom. That's why their tradition and culture is similar to Igbos, and they even resemble Igbos. Don't mistake them with Yoruba blood Bini people aka Ile bino that invaded that land and stole it. These ones resemble and behave like Yoruba, and usually carry last in school.

Stop deceiving yourself because it will take more than a thousand years before Igbos can achieve what Yorubas have achieved educationally and otherwise.

So Zik attended Awolowo's school? The same Awolowo who was sitting on the grass and listening to Dr Ziks (Who already had his PhD) speeches as a lowly journalist intern in the late 1930s, before he (Awo) got inspired to go study law in the UK?

Have you read Awolowo's autobiography 'Awo'? Do you morons even read at all nowadays?

Enigmatic Zik became educated and popular in Nigeria far before Awo went to study law in the UK and come back to Nigeria.

Gen-Z mugus make Una dey read o. I fear for Una generation..

I am not arguing with u.
U can use AI to investigate what I am saying.

Ask AI about the most educated tribe in 1960...the answer would shock u.

There has never been a time when Yorubas were more educated than igbos...rather it was propaganda that made it so.

There is no state, federal or private university in Nigeria where u won't find igbos.

No matter how interior it is around Nigeria,u will find igbos either schooling and doing business in the same village IN SOKOTO,ZAMFARA,KEBBI AND name it.

Below is my finding using AI.

The most educated tribe in 1960?
According to various sources, including a 1960 report by the Nigerian Government, the Igbo tribe was considered one of the most educated tribes in Nigeria at that time.

In fact, a 1960 census report showed that the Igbo people had the highest literacy rate and the highest number of university graduates among all the ethnic groups in Nigeria.

This was largely due to the Igbo people's strong emphasis on education and their willingness to embrace Western education, which was introduced by British colonialists in the early 20th century.

Edo is not an ethnicity in Nigeria.

I think we have different tribes or ethnicities in Edo. They should do better, Bini would have made more sense than Edo.

And many people would come here to say Igbos aren't supposed to be the number one because to them, Igbos are known for business and entrepreneurship and not education, but they are so wrong.

In the 60s to 70s, Awolowo did a remarkable thing that helped Yorubas acquire education for free, and this made them catch up with Igbos because Igbos dominated most sectors in Nigeria including in the North which made Ahmadu Bello to say he would stop it and rather hire foreigners to fill up spaces Northerners couldn't fill than allow Igbos fill it.

That Igbo spare parts dealer or the one helping you to butcher your car or fix your car at Ladipo or othe markets, or that Igbo guy offloading container you see as an illiterate is probably a graduate and if he didn't attend a university, he probably have an OND or at worst a WAEC.

I am a graduate and soon to become a PhD holder, funny enough, my Church who are mostly Yorubas do see me as someone that didn't finish university because they know I am not working for anybody but own my own small firm which they call business, so to them, as an Omo Igbo, I no go school, but the day they will find out that I am in the process of acquiring a PhD they will be shocked cheesy

This is one thing about Igbos that most Nigerians, especially Yorubas don't know. That Igbo guy selling Okrika wears or women underwear in the market is probably a graduate who went into business after school or was combining both, so stop looking down on Igbo business owners, traders and entrepreneurs as illiterates, most of them are graduates and even enrolled in part time studies to acquir hire certificates cheesy

In Igbo land, from the 90s, it became a competition for every family to train their child to university level and if your child hasn't gained ission to study in the university or polytechnic, you are seen as a failure and the child is seen as future failure or lout lol, this pushed many Igbos to take education more seriously despite holding on to their family business cool

Note, Ekiti State may have the highest number of Professors, but that doesn't make them the most literate state because literacy is not measured by the number of those who acquired PhD but by the number of those who obtained at least Secondary school certificate and a university/polytechnic certificate. So let's not mistake the two
