It has a spring in one side. If you drive along the normal way, the nails will be pushed to lay flat on one side but if you aproach trough the wrong direction, the nails cannot bend and will pierce your tires.

For the right way the tire can easily on the bent spikes while the one way drivers get their tires spiked because the spikes raise it's head up.. they need this advancement here in Lagos too 😂
