Let's have the job you think was highly respected in the past but has lost his dignity or respect in recent time.

Perhaps if one knows it, one can avoid studying them or learning them.

Journalism is one of the jobs that have lost dignity and respect. It fetches money but is perceived as a rotten (corrupt) job.

Law still rocks!
It's definitely got to be Banking. It was the gold of all professions some 10-15 years ago.

Entry level bank staff earn not less than 300K per month. Some earn more than 400K per month. There are more well paying bank organisations than law firms. Also they don't discriminate against courses.

P.S. Permanent staff.

To be fair though, there is really no job that has lost its "respect". The advice for young entrants would be to have a strong math foundation, get into a good school preferably notably a federal university/polytechnic or top-rated private university, get a good grade and be well informed of the career/academic opportunities as they come by. Also, be prepared to change locations, especially at an early stage, if necessary.

Some ignorant people will come to say "Jobs are slavery". A big lie as the world has more employees than employers, and the most successful employers once worked somewhere or places to either raise their capital and/or garner experience within a structured environment.

It seems you don't understand simple English. The post is asking for jobs that have lost dignity or respect. Kidnapping is a money making machine but is it respected?

I can't think of any reason...

why you would come up with this profession of all the jobs in this world. Are you a p. imp?

Anyway from 2k to 200k don't you think they gained respect rather?

I would say teacher...

But where they even ever highly respected?

I will just say the little respect they had just keeps declining.

No one respects teachers! (hyperbole)

I read a book one time...

I will rephrase the story as I can't recall it verbatim... But still very much same storyline.

So these two brothers in a Chinese province. Mr Hang and Mr Wang had two male children each.

So mr Hang sent his first son to military school where he did well graduated and became very good at military strategy. Soon the king of the province heard about how good he was and made him military commander and General of his army.

As for his second son Mr Hang sent to school to learn philosophy and the art of teaching. He also graduated in due time and was made a professor at the highest level of with the greatest honors accorded any citizen.

Now Mr Wang seeing the success of both sons of Mr Hang decided to tow same path for his sons so he did the same. Sending one to study military strategy and the other to study philosophy and the art of teaching at the best schools available.

Eventually both graduated with excellent grades and soon the king heard of how brilliant they both were so he invited them to his palace for a chat.

After listening to both of them speak he sent the son who studied philosophy to prison and had the one who studied military strategy amputated.

When the king was asked the reason for his actions he said that the military tactician he had amputated because listening to him he discovered he was very bold and courageous and brilliant with his strategies on wars. He would have employed him to be a general in his own army. But it would cause disunity and rancor in his army. Because he already had many generals in his army and so he cut of his legs so he wouldn't go and work for a rival ruler's army where he might be made a general which would be devastating for him if that ruler decided to attack his province.

As for the other son he had sent to prison: how dare he talk philosophy, peace and history at a time of war.

Moral of the story is study the times. Not every course is marketable. Go for what is sellable and make a ion from it. I don't believe in that study anything as long as you have ion those things don't work anymore.

Society changes and it's only the ones that adapt and go with the flow that success awaits. No go dey study philosophy when the world needs a bicycle repairer.

Make whatever you study or do your ion. Find your real ion when you succeed at what you do.

Something like that!

Teaching, so stressful and emotionally draining, I had to quit mine as a private school teacher 3 years ago to venture into tech, that year I created my first online business which is vtu website, last year I bought my first car and currently building my first house. Tech is the future, though it may seem hard in the beginning but if you didn't give up, you will smile later.
