Nigerians have gone on social media to lament after they woke up to see that their mobile operators have increased tariffs.

This realisation caused a number of popular telcos to trend on social media.

Social media sers lamented that an internet bundle that used to be available for N2K for 15GB of data is
now N6,000 for the same 15GB of data.

Nigerians took to social media to lament this increase, while pointing out that the economic situation just keeps worsening by the day.

Recall that in January 2025, the NCC approved a request for tariff adjustment by operators after telcos' agitation for cost-reflective prices in the face of harsh economic conditions.

The NCC capped the increase at a maximum of 50% of the current tariffs, though lower than the over 100% requested by some network operators.

However, the current increase being experienced by s shows that the increase might have exceeded 50% in some cases.

Are you afraid of litigation? Why blurring the names of the networks?

I came to Nairaland from X to see what people will say or if there ways to mitigate this increase. On an average I use about 20 gig of data for work weekly and sometimes I have to buy both Airtel and MTN.

Things are looking tough moving forward.

It will favour me and my family. People are getting poorer, most comments or nairaland.unblockandhide.com will not exceed 2 pages, because people will not put on data every time. Yet some kids will be here to abuse me. Many businesses that are data related will suffer and reduce time of patronage. If any of the APC urchins complain about this hike, tell them, they have been living FAKE life by using supplus data before. grin grin grin grin grin cry cry cry cry

Why sensor the networks involved? Does not make any sense at all.

They declare obscene profits every year as if that is not enough for them. This is nothing but greed and callousness.

The citizens needs to know which network providers are doing this and maybe boycott them.

There are platforms where you can get data at a cheaper rate across all networks. You can read my review post here on top platforms where you can get data at a cheaper rate.

So an entrepreneur having put all his indices together and saw that this is the best way to move his organisation forward, people with no investment in it whatsoever are lamenting.

If it is easy, open your own telecommunications company and do giveaway data.

A country that only knows how to watch, tiktok, Instagram and pornhub.

Ask them what they have been using data to do, they can't prove any meaningful thing.

Good overdue move from the telecommunications sector.

Now it's up to NCC to sanction them for Thier shitty service disruption

The prices for the larger data bundles have also increased, so expect adjustments in price.

I think NCC should not only focus on increasing tariffs to put more money in the pockets of these Telcos. They must also charge the Telcos on improved quality service to Nigerians.

Sometimes I hate how the network becomes so choppy while using data or voice service without getting value for your money. It can be really bad sometimes, and before you realize it your money is gone.
