A police constable attached to Mada Station Division of Nasarawa command of the Nigerian Police Force has shot and killed himself.

The police constable identified as Dogara Akolo-Moses, was reportedly seen going about his duty in Nasarawa Eggon local government area where the division is located, on the day he took his life.

A witness said the officer went into a private room and shot himself and the sound of the gun attracted all officers on duty who rushed to the scene but met the deceased lying in the pool of his blood.

“Colleagues of the deceased who were outside the apartment heard the gunshot, prompting them to rush inside, where they found the officer lying on the floor with his gun beside him” a source said.

The rationale behind the act were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Confirming the ugly incident to journalists in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, Ramhan Nansel, said investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the officer’s uncontrolled action.

There was one notorious VIO officer that stops any car, forcefully remove ur key and drive ur car to police station. I asked of him from one driver recently , he said he died mysteriously in such a way that his colleagues lost ion for d work.

This is sad. Most people who have taken innocent lives before find suicide the quickest and easiest option to get out of the psychological consequences of such act, I just hope this isn't the case, proper investigation should be done to ascertain the real motive behind this. Our institutions should really have like in house therapy sessions - we don't take mental health serious in these parts.

We should also stop stigmatizing people who call out for help. That stigma of you're "not a man" discourages most people from speaking out about mental health issues.

These people are evil and I doubt it there's anyone in the force with good intentions.

If you've ever had encounter with them, you will understand that, a simple case can degenerate into a serious life threatening case that you'd go to jail over issues that you're innocent. But refuses to bribe them.

His colleagues were outside,
No one was there with him.

Meaning his colleagues wasn't with him when the gunshot was fired.
They ran to the scene, the attacker might have left the scene.
