•Ex-military leaders, other stakeholders endorse coalition
•Proponents may announce new platform late February
•Leaders yet to agree on presidential flagbearer
•Jonathan, Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, el-Rufai, Tambuwal are front runners
•LND playing lead roles-Source
Leaders of the northern political establishment and other key stakeholders across the country appeared to have concluded on the need to jettison the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the vehicle to deploy in challenging incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune confirmed that the leaders across the North and South, who have been meeting in the last three months, have come to a conclusion that the PDP was becoming a dead horse and that the governors, who hold the ace in the party, could no longer be relied upon to play the major opposition roles in 2027.
It was gathered that a committee set up in the last weeks of December 2024 to finalise the details of the new mega party has been given a deadline of late February to announce the special purpose vehicle the opposition would rely upon to dislodge the APC.
Sources, however, said that there is no conclusion yet on the lead candidate to fly the flag of the mega party in 2027.
“The leaders are looking at a number of options as the 2027 election calendar is being awaited from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in May. There are four or five options on the table as presidential hopefuls. There is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, both of whom contested the 2023 election, and then, a former governor of Kaduna State. Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the former Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi. Former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is also being considered, just as are reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan could be considered as a possible option, especially, looking at the contention in some quarters that you may have to confront a southern candidate with another candidate from the South,” a source said.
It was gathered that a series of meetings that have taken place within the country and what a source called the “West and the East Coast,” have resolved to establish a mega party that would tackle the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the race for Aso Rock in 2027.
A source equally said that the recently held democracy summit, in Abuja was one of the measures meant to galvanise the forces ahead of the eventual launch of the mega party.
Another source told the Nigerian Tribune: “The North seems to have settled for a candidate they believe would give the APC a good run for the money in 2027. The parties being considered for the mega coalition include the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and a number of other ed parties. The PDP is not featuring prominently in the calculation because of the belief that many of its governors are afraid of President Tinubu and are secretly working for his re-election.”
It was also gathered that the candidate of the LP, Mr Peter Obi is featuring prominently in the coalition, as a source said that proponents of the coalition are insisting that it cannot work without a Peter Obi.
It was also learnt that while Atiku is already acting as the rallying point for the expected coalition, all eyes may not be lost on Obi and Tambuwal.
A source, however, discountenanced the feeling that Atiku may be too old for the presidency in 2027, adding that the example of Donald Trump of the United States is still fresh in mind.
Sources also said that the League of Northern Democrats (LND), headed by former Kano State governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, is already playing a coordinating role in sewing together all fronts in the emerging coalition.

We already know that it's the party in power that always win.
So whether election goes to their favour or not, they're always declared winners of the election.

Good. Just like Tinubu did to Jonathan, anything Tinubu is now an abomination in the Core-North . It is better you pack all your useless luggage before the announcement of the results

A strategy presently playing out is to maximally weaken and damage PDP to the point that it will not be up to it in 2027 not to talk of meaningfully participating in a coalition of parties that will face the APC with impact. Atiku, Obi, El Rufai, Jonathan and Obasanjo are like crumbs. Atiku is so fearful he is holed up in Dubai! Peter Obi’s drops of 5 million naira here and ten million there will not make the proverbial ocean! El-Rufai is as roughened up as can be in his Kaduna political base! Jonathan is a whimper in the political marketplace as is his naturally effeminate voice speaking through his nasal cavity!! Obasanjo is about the political space - especially in the South-West in the manner of a drunkard rambling about the streets soon to collapse in a mess!! Crumbs, no matter how plenty, will not amount to a loaf of bread!

Only God can stop Tinubu in 2027. Election will be over before 1pm with Tinubu as winner.
It may look more like Maurice Iwu 2003 election for Obasanjo 2nd term.

Unfortunately there are many ebiNpawa fools who are tribal Stockholm Syndrome patients, thankful for ebilokan palliative food instead of jobs. How do we reduce their numbers to the barest minimum? What enlightenment works are needed and how do we go about it?
fuckJones:
(A case study of Nigeria citizens & their elected oppressors).
During the Soviet dictatorship of Joseph stalin. He was a brutal dictator with mind of his own. On one fateful day, stalin came to Politburo meeting with a live chicken. Standing in front of audience, He started to pluck the feathers of the live chicken off one by one. The chicken trembled in pain, blood tricking out of its pores. It gave out grievous cries, but stalin being a cruel dictator continued without remorse plucking the feathers out until the chicken was completely Unclad. After which, he threw the chicken on the ground. The Unclad chicken was staggering in pain. stalin goes into his pocket and from his pockets, he took out some chicken food and started to throw it at the poor & hapless creature. The poor chicken in pain started eating and stalin started walking towards his seat. As he walked away, he kept dropping some feeds on the floor & the chicken followed him and sat feeding from his feet.
Joseph stalin then turned to of his political party leadership. He said, "This chicken represents the people". "You must disempower them, brutalise them, beat them up, starve them and then leave them". "If you do this, go into your pocket & give them peanuts when they are in that helpless and desperate situation, they will blindly follow you for the rest of their life, worshiping you". "They will think you are a hero forever. They will forget that, you're responsible for their sorrowful situation in the first place." Breath taking, isn't it ?
Now! Take a look at all the people some Nigerians are busy defending on social media. Take a look at those they call their heroes. They are the same people who plunged Nigeria into the situation she is. They are the same people who are responsible for their predicaments. Did you see the numbers of people that throng to Saraki's House during this Sallah period to go collect peanuts? People trooping to Bola Ahmed Tinubu Foundation offices to collect branded One kilo bag of Rice & Noddles. Did you see the number of people of all ages who troop out to welcome Ex- convict James Ibori to South South! Do you see the number of handle mop following obi as if he is a seat? what of the one following dino malaye?
Your guess is as good as mine. Nigerians kill those they should defend and defend those they should kill! to all your s & let your Political & Religion Leaders read, understand & digest.

Atiku greediness ended PDP
I thought it was wicked ologogoro Wike’s greediness that ended it
anonimi: 2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury
Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.
One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.
Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Exactly.
Neither Mr Obi or Atiku can promise that and remain credible.
Afterall, they both promised to remove subsidy at the last election.

Story story story...
Do you really think anything they say against PBAT will sail through?
When the economy was good purportly from the istration of POBJ - PYaradua - PGEJ, how did the people fare in the respective States, how did development fair both in human and other infrastructures bot on the part of the FG and most especially the States and regions collectively!!!!!!!
The weakest plan of any coalition would be to use a Northern candidate to oust the Southern candidate being PBAT because there's so much to this than meets the eyes and whatever's agenda of the North and those from the South and East and even the West would want to put up, they sure really suck and they will be given sucker punch that they would not know from where it would come from.
