Instead of turning the metropolis into a truly global city of repute, the Lagos magician who makes taxes and IGR disappear has turned it into a glorified ghetto of school na scam agberos in different uniforms.

A shame that T-Pain has failed woefully in 25 years plus to provide the basics of modern society.

A 45-year-old resident and father of three, Mr.Fatai Lamide told PUNCH HealthWise that no building in the community has toilet facilities.

The Oyo State-born mechanic said, “We don’t have toilet in this area, including our compound. This canal that you see serves as toilet to all of us living in this area. We defecate inside nylon and throw it inside the canal.

“For people that don’t want to use nylon, they have a special bucket that they use after which they pour it inside the canal too.

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

Ogun is another state ruined by corruption of progreThieves pretending to be Awolowo’s progressive heirs.

Don’t they all deserve to be lynched and given the necklace roasting like petty thieves

Babasessy:

The Awolowo rebirth in the Southwest has inspired gongs, songs and rhetoric of sorts. But they have missed one point.

It occurred to me in Abeokuta last week amidst the big crowds and euphoria of the swearing-in of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as governor. In all the states from Lagos to Edo, where Awo has witnessed ideological resurgence, hardly a single family member has played a role.

So we have an Awo family without an Awo. That is an irony. But history overwhelms us with this sort of twist. Obafemi Awolowo toiled for his reputation. His roots were lowly, he toiled to school both home and abroad, launched into careers in law, business, journalism and eventually politics. He carved a niche for himself, and became the first methodical and charismatic leftist in our history.  Other leftists abounded but they did not inspire comparable drama and following.

He faced tribulations, went to jail, failed in elections, won a few, but he imprinted his ideas and legacy in the country, and no single mortal has beaten him in the history of this country. His greatest achievement was in the area of ideas, and that was how he fashioned a family. Most families are born of biology but his issued from ideology. That family suffered with him.

In a spoof of Jesus Christ, these were the men who followed him in his teachings, and endured with him in his temptations. So he formed a kingdom for them in the Southwest, in the old Western Region, presiding over his projects, his legacies and people.

In all of these, the family he had was not his flesh and blood. In another spoof of Christ, who were his family anyway? Those who were with him must be counted as his family. So, I combed in the ambience of Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), and I found none. I went to Ogun, I frisked the crowd under Amosun’s bower, hardly any. Around Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osun, I could not lay a finger. With Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti, where are the forbears of Awo? Yet, I can hear the chants of Awo. Hardly in any of the inaugural speeches or any of their other public intervention would you miss the philtre and filter of Awo from these gentlemen. To parody Novelist Joseph Conrad, they are the sparks from Awo’s sacred fire, the messengers of the might within the man.

Already all of them are pursuing the legacy ideas of Awo: free education, free health services, infrastructural development, urban renewal and economic engineering.

Lagos has posted itself as the John the Baptist. The others are putting up valiant efforts, and the world of course is watching to see how well they will perform. It will call for great work, resourcefulness and cooperation. They are the real Awoists, and Awo was a man of rigour and vigour.

The Awo son that many expected to take after the father was Olusegun, who unfortunately died in a car crash. We shall never know if he could have pulled it off.  But the others have not shown much of the paterfamilias’ brio and depth. In the past decade, under this republic, they have blended with the wrong crowd. Even H.I.D, hobnobbed with Alao-Akala, who brought illiteracy to governance; with Oyinlola who turned the grace of office into a hell-hole of despots; with Daniel who could not arrest his quick fall into megalomania.

I wrote once that this woman whom Awo once described as the jewel of inestimable value has lost value to his cause. If he came back to life, he would have committed the extraordinary act of divorce after death. Even his newspaper, The Tribune, has so stumbled and fallen that it swims in Awo’s vomit.

If you don't know Lagos properly, please leave your car at home and take Public Transport if you are heading to any part of the City you don't know.

Or you can keep at least #70k for Abegg Sir.

These are some of the reasons it's difficult to make ordinary Nigerians have faith in the system. Some people don't even like reporting a crime , because they are scared it might backfire on them.

Military, Police, NDLEA, VIO, NYSC and so many other public institutions will just want to extort you. Even FRSC sef that is supposed to be safety conscious will be jumping on roads or dragging steering with drivers. Customs and Immigration will be asking you for papers their incompetence already allowed into the country. It's just a mess.

Nigeria is just too unreliable. All the security forces are either Hezbollah and al Qaeda islamics operatives or road side / come to your house - armed robbers.

I was once arrested by LASTMA trying to this Sholabomi crescent, though it's a short by, it's one way. It serve as exit to the express, and entry to those coming from Iyana Ipaja. Only those familiar with the area know the route, No newbie will take the road.

Truth be told, there's a particular BRT lane coming down from a bridge around mile 2 going to Ikorodu, if one doesn't slow down, one would land directly on the BRT lane.

The signpost was placed at the very top of the road such that when you are descending the bridge, it can't hardly be noticed.

The funny thing is, the taskforce guys are stationed just by the other end of the BRT lane that connects back to the normal lane, so they can apprehend unsuspecting motorists.

It's crazy how we had to part with about 60k and following week, a colleague had same issue.

Also, they need to stop entering people's car to drive. You don't know my car or what I have inside, yet you rush in to drive my car to your office. Na to dae carry my Rottweiler for back seat remain.

That Mile12 axis is a hot spot for them, just like you described, the sign is placed at a blind spot for drivers. Those useless guys would be there armed like they're going to war, atimes during rush hour they'll compound the traffic flow on the commercial lane, driving the average impatient Lagos driver into the brt lane. Whenever I go through that route I wonder if there is no sensible government official that can put a stop to this daylight robbery. Armed police officers, charging you thousands of naira over a traffic offence is crazy! You try to bargain down to a reasonable sum and they'll tell you they're not beggars and that you should count the number of officers you can see, then you judge if your figure is sensible. Assholes Sha angryThe supposed one way crime on certain roads is a tale for another day.

My car that was at a mechanic shop at shoprite durbar area near the jetty, was towed all the way to Oshodi.
The place is a close, within several estates, yet they came there to tow cars away, including those undergoing repairs.

Had to pay 200k to get my car back, its not like the issue I brought it to mechanic for has been fixed.

It's so painful

Even from mile 2 to iyanaiba, 3 different frsc checkpoints.

All agencies have practically become revenue funneling schemes and corruption has gone out of control.

Imagine reporting a crime to Ndlea and instead of them to do the needful they are asking you if they're police.

Some five years ago, my car park at sabo service lane in yaba while I entered the market to get something, i5 was on a Friday. Before I came back they towed my vehicle away claiming I park in no parking lane, meanwhile the sign was posted at the Herbert macauley-onike junction. Besides I was wondering why anyone would say a service lane beside a major market is a no parking area. I was made to pay about N70000 at iponri where they took the vehicle to as at that time. It was a nightmare driving around lagos. If I am not conversant with any road, I would leave my car at home and used public transport. At law school junction, they once arrested me there too claiming I broke traffic light when I didn't. I always thank God I left Lagos for Fashola, Tinubu and their mad gangs.

Lagos State is a massive shît hole and glorified ghetto, just look at what a useless commissioner is saying. Instead of the föol to placate the residents and promise quick government interventions, he had to indirectly call his föolish, suffering Lagos residents bloody liars so as not to look like an incompetent government. Fûckin shît cool

What surprise me is that upon all the testimonies of people that there are no clear signs to know that it BRT lines, a state government official, pay by people:s tax still to argued that there are signs there, it show that, there is collaboration between some of the officials and security agencies. The way we behave to ourselves animastically in this country is beyond human comprehension, animals in their own kingdom don't do that, document from their kingdoms reaveled that they love their kind, protect and care for themselves, but it is only in Nigeria we are so wicked to each other

Na why my guy don park hin car ever since he enter Lagos from PH, while another gave his car out for Uber.

If your car is not fetching you money one way or the other in this Lagos, you're not wise.

Nobody drives for comfort in Lagos, you either drive to make extra cash either by your packaging or Uber; or you're driven by someone else for comfort.

I've officially written off buying a car till I japa in the next 3 years.

I have been a victim of this very spot, and I will be one of the people who will be ready to campaign and fight against the nonsense the Lagos state government and the criminal police and lasma officers perpetuate along this very spot, enough is enough, their activities on this spot must stop.we can't continue to swallow all manner of rubbish this criminal officers and their collaborators put the citizens to in this area
This campaign has to go viral
