Absolutely rubbish. This is strictly Nigerian mentality
That's to you
THUNDER4real(m): 10:45am On Jan 26
Nigerian Christians and hypocrisy is like 5&6. Before you start arguing anything related to appearance with a Nigerian Christian just know that same person will appear like that if they find themselves abroad. Do wife of Anglican priest/bishop put on tros in Nigeria? Fvk no. in US, the ones I know put it on, even wear it for content creating. The same thing with churches in Nigeria banning guys from plaiting hair and different rules. Same branch of same church in US allows it. WHO IS DECEIVING WHO?
dollypi(m): 10:55am On Jan 26
Yes they can.

God looks at the heart, don't be a judgemental hypocrite.

cutecommend:
If you check in some churches, you will see guys with plaited and probably see ladies and guys with coloured hair. You may even see guitarists with plaited hair. Is this right for a genuinely born again Christian?
The bible says in 2 Corinth 6:17 "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you".

True born again Christians should appear in a way that sinners will not have doubt about their Christian faith. They should appear in a way that people can receive the gospel from them without doubting them as true Christians.

A true born again guy should not be seen with plaited hair, neither should guys and ladies have coloured hair.

TRUE CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

Modesty!.... Are you aware your definition of 'modesty' is different from my definition of 'modesty'? The only thing that may align both our definitions is 'culture'.

If we both grew up in the same household or community, we would likely share similar cultural biases, sterotypes and views of what 'modesty' should look like.

You mentioned Jesus and the apostles were modest. So by your standard, we should all adorn loose fitting jalabiya robes to fit into your biblical standard of modesty?

You mentioned that lawyers have a way they dress at work and so on. Are you aware that lawyers in the USA dress differently from lawyers in the UK or in Nigeria?

Can you go mount a pulpit in a Jamaican church and preach to them that they're not being modest or Christian-like because half the men have dreadlocks?

Keypoint to note is that you guys are preaching and projecting your CULTURE, not the gospel of Christ.

If Christ were to come to the world today, do you genuinely think he would be concerned about whether a man has cornrows or dreads or skin-cut?

My definition of modesty and that of yours may be different but the most sincere question we should all ask ourselves is, if our modesty is based on how God through Christ Jesus defines and perceives modesty...

Yes, there are many cultures all over the continents and that has its own effect on everyone of us based on where we come from or are resident or what we've been taught.

Nevertheless, there is one God, one Jesus Christ and one Holy Spirit.
Irrespective of our culture the "Divine" within you should enable you to know what being modest within the confines of your culture is and not what the individual may think and it is.

Christianity as a religion has three aspects...
(1) The way of the Spirit of God.
(2) The way of the world.
(3) The way of the flesh.

If I were to mount a pulpit in Jamaica, I would not preach that keeping dreadlocks is not modest except if I am moved by the Spirit of God to do that.
Now, I believe we know that many of those who keep dreadlocks do so based on a belief system they were taught from birth. These dreadlocks are natural growing hairs and not those artificially done.
Now, by my conduct in that church and the conduct of others who don't wear dreadlocks, over time, the greater portion of the remaining half keeping dreadlocks should be able to realise and get their dreadlocks cut.

Christ will not be bothered about all that when he comes because, He is coming to take those whose are of Him and have satisfied the requirements given by Him.

Now to everyone who says they are of Christ Jesus, then the Jesus Christ in you if truly He is in you and the Spirit of God that dwells in you if truly our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, then we ought to know if cornrows, dreadlocks or skin cuts are approved of God.
These are like the attitudes or characters of every individual. The Spirit of God in you should give you that conviction if one still possess a bad or good character and which one is to be kept and which one the individual should put away.

Good. The same holy book says a Christian shouldn’t judge. Live life as you deem fit and let the other person do the same.

Yet, in the Bible, thre was so many figures appointed to judge over people. Infact, a chapter in the Bible coined Judge 1&2.

Stop misleading people with Bible verses that do not conform to the subject matter. There's nothing immoral about plaiting your hair or looking good in general.

This is mainly a cultural thing and your lack of exposure to other cultures has beclouded your judgement skills.

Sin does not necessarily equate to immorality and vice versa. What is moral or not is determined by the community or society you find yourself.

Some communities do not see premarital sex as immoral. Also in some communities, giving a wife for sex to enteetain guests is not seen as immoral. Yet all these are sins before God.

Sin is disobedience to God and not dependent on morality or immorality as defined by men. Plaiting your hair as a man or coloring it as a man or woman can be a sin before God.

Furthermore, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:23 and 1 Corinthians 6:12 that all things are permissible to me but not all things are profitable to me. Genuinely born again Christians are God's Children, t Heirs of the Kingdom with Christ and soldiers in God's Army. Anything capable of being an impediment in their journey with God should be avoided.

Can you imagine Prince William colouring his hair, making tattoos and carrying weave-on? Of course you cannot because it would be a ridicule to the British Crown. Now imagine the children of the Most High whose Kingdom is not even comparable to the British Crown seeking to live their lives anyhow and emulate the lives of unbelievers so that there is hardly any distinction between them?

For those who want to do all things while claiming to be Born Again Christians, how profitable are those things to you in your journey with Christ? Would you rather run your race with encumbrances that make you feel good or forgo them as a soldier limiting baggage so you can make good speed?

..ok but what is the difference between those male christians brothers that do not plait their hair or colour them..but have normal and decent hair ...but the ones with decent hair still commits sins, commit adultery, fornication, frauds,, corrupt practices, hatred, , bad character and behavior, criminal activities..God also sees them as sinners

This is just pure thrash. Last 50 years, majority of folks like you preach telling Christians sisters not to wear tros, use earrings, chains, rings, ornaments of different such. What has changed now? You guys don't know God deal with the hearts and not the way you perceived things, you are only thinking like a traditional, archaic and dogmatic person. Grow up this is just a cultural thing.

Now that we are agreeing that other people's right should be allowed to stand, can we then allow gaymen to do their thing in the name of rights?

Christianity for me is not even about heaven, it's about living a sane life here on earth. If I close my eyes in death today and there happens to be heaven, better.
I am not living my life with any heaven in sight.

If you are genuinely transformed and saved, your interest will not be on plaiting your hair or wearing ear rings as a man. Your interest will lie on the propagation of the kingdom and everything that will promote the kingdom of God here on earth.

So the question is, does plaiting your hair or putting on ear rings help you in your Christian race? The answer is obviously NO! So why do it? Doing it shows that you are now conforming to the world and doing things based on the Influence of the world standard. Plaiting the hair or putting on earrings started from the world and not the church. These are trends promoted by the worldly people, so why should a born again child of God become influenced by worldly standards?

The Bible say, be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Meaning that, we Christians should set the standards for the world to follow and not the other way round.

Plaiting your hair or wearing earrings isn’t a sin on its own; however, the intention and mindset driving you to do those things is what might be sinful. Because if your intention is to look good, aren’t you looking good the way God created you? Are you saying that until you put on earrings or dye your hair you won’t look good?

Bible calls every Christian a “a peculiar people” read 1 Peter 2 vs 9. How can peculiar person be doing what every other person is doing? As a Christian, you are supposed to be different and set the standards for others to follow, why follow what others are doing?. Why plait your hair as a man? What is your intention? How does it help your Christian life? Why conform to the world?

Read 2 Corinth 6:17. Bible says, come out from among them. You can’t do things like every other person in the world. Set a standard and let the world see you looking different in everything including your appearance, mannerisms and attitude. God bless you!

grin grin It's impossible for a crocodile to eat grass.
It's impossible for a man to tint his hair in glaring colours, plait it like a woman, draw tattoos all over his body, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Totally Impossible!
Friendship with the world is enemity with God( James 4:4)
You can't love the dressing styles of the world and the things of God at the same time.
It's either you are here or there.
No neutral ground.
You can't find any tinted haired Christian anywhere commanding God's Anointing, working miracles and prospering under the Coverage of God..
Fools would say that dressing and appearance don't matter.
But they forget that there are dressings and appearance that glorify the World which is under the control and influence of the Evil One.
If you love the things of the world Including dressing styles and hairstyles, you are automatically an enemy of God.
No two ways about it.
It's small small small things like dressings that would bring countless Christians to Hell more than any other.

Good. The same holy book says a Christian shouldn’t judge. Live life as you deem fit and let the other person do the same.
But we are judges and we will even judge angels.
Having said that, the scripture says we shouldn't behave in a manner that will make others to fall away into sin, this includes dress code, attitude, temperament etc etc.

At the bolded. Does barbing your hair or keeping low cut help you in the Christian race? The answer is NO. So why barb it too. SMH

Be not deceived. By their fruits you shall know them. Who are they trying to look like? When others look at them what do they think. How you dress can also be how you will be addressed. Worldliness is it godliness. Let him that thinketh he stands be careful because he still can fall. He that shall be wise will move with the wise.
It is not about Christianity. Some with low cut or skin or mini afro are sinners but someone told me not to put on any crazy hairstyle because it can affect me and also attract the wrong people to me
