If you not seen a rich mechanic, but at least you have seen mechanics that are landlords, sent their kids to school and drove their own car (even though it is not a latest model) right?? Then think how many private school teacher have you seen with this privilege? Expect you want to be like Aliko Dangote before this year runs out, that can be your turning point. Setting future and pursuing it is not for the weak either.

@33, I'm more afraid of the future
So reality is dawning on me for the tasks ahead.
Presently 33 with N85k/month salary job
During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.
By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.
To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k
Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.
How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.
To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.
I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.
Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.
And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.
So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.
I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.
I'm really really afraid of the future.
I feel there shouldn't be any future.
Hmnnn I think you should start by appreciating God that you even have a steady source of income and are not worse off. Secondly try to live below your income, cut on spending as much as you can even though i know it is hard but a few things like cooking at home instead of eating outside, avoiding ostentatious spending like going for the latest phones or clothes when you have a functional one can help then i would you invest your time in learning a trade such as forex trading well with reduced risks or learning web design and digital marketing. Then from your savings you can invest one tenth of your savings to increase your earnings. I wish you all the best and avoid worrying too much it can lead to depression and other ill health conditions.

Diversify. Find other means of income, preferably something online.
Amazon KDP for example, can be done alongside your job. Domaining too. People still make money from online surveys/AI trainings
Or find someone to teach you USDT arbitrage although that takes a lot of time and capital.
None of them is easy though. So you have to be disciplined.
Forget your age and face your fears.
About the USDT arbitrage, any advice, link or recommendations on how to go about it as a starter?

Probably, he feels mechanics don’t have money up to the level he is thinking.
Those with bungalow, two cars and wives can have more, if they go and learn more about the trade in a more modern and advanced ways and they invest in right and appropriate tools ⚒️ 🧰.
I don’t see why a Nigerian mechnic who has over 10 years experience cannot spare 2 more years to go a trade school abroad to learn about his line of business and learn the business process with it then work there to raise more money and then go back to Nigeria to setup and have his niche market/customers.
^^^
Very true.
I never thought I would quote or paraphrase Osama bin Laden but its now clear to me that the auto repair industry in Nigeria is in 'need of liberation'. It is fragmented, largely unregulated and it is a sellers market through and through.
I do not know where the push for regulation will come from. Government is asleep at the wheel (as usual). If mechanics themselves clean up their trade and self regulate in a sensible manner, they can move their trade several leap years forward from where it is at the moment. But will they?

Life is simple. When you begin to embrace simplicity, you start to attract simplicity
To be prepared for marriage, you need to understand the first message up there. Know yourself. Who are you ?
Know your self because you'll only attract who you are for marriage. And if your self is lack of contentment, woe unto you when you attract an uncontented woman for marriage.
There is nothing like enough. Have you seen enough money before? How much is enough money. Enough is a psychological quantity. You can never have it all.
To live a good life, you have to work towards knowing yourself. Don't rush into marriage only to rush out. I know my advice may seem vague to Yiu because I'm not telling you to learn programming or forex or all of that.
That's not what you need. Whatever skill anyone recommends to you will only carry you as far as you want it to carry you
Can you dedicate 4-5 years to a skill even when money isn't forthcoming yet?
Can you be humble enough to learn from someone younger than you
Can you be patient with good character?
How discipled are you when you start making money? Will you land on money just to blow it away on nonsense people tag as 'living life'
Are you loyal enough to remains faithful to the wife you think you need now?
Can you give a customer quality regardless of the economic situation?
Know your self. It's a journey. All will be added as you progress, hopefully.
Money isn't all. Nice clothes isn't all. Flashy lifestyle isn't it. Focus on Self
I hope my other posts can help you.
This can only come from a man who experience the matrix and left it.
Solid advice.
Consistency is the key not age. If he starts anything and consistently do it for 2-4yrs, after 4yrs, even the juju in his family can't stop him. The journey reveals yourself to you. If you can't face the journey, you can't find yourself.

Keep giving your self high hbp unnecessarily . They will tell you, you are suppose to be married with 5 kids. Ask them is Nigeria suppose to be the way it is ? Ask them is a graduate suppose to marry on 85k job in this economy ?
Honestly, if nigerians are reasonable, everyone should be talking about how to fix this country first instead of whether breatheon is married or not.

You have woken up. You are afraid. Don't listen to the people making you feel any better about yourself. The truth is that if nothing changes, your life is going to suck.
Now everyday I want you to wake up with that fear, the fear that if you stay the same, you are doomed. Now, I want you to look for the person you would like to become, and study them. After studying them, try to behave as they behave. In one year, come back to this topic.
I read through the front page and was just seeing messages that'll only make him feel good. Age is a number yes but let's not deceive ourselves. Life at 20 is different from life at 70. This is the reality whether people like to believe it or not.

Dont think of settling down on that kind of salary unless your intended is doing something productive and willing to you.
Mark the last statement'' willing to you''.

Nothing is for the weak. Unless you inherited wealth, won lottery or got lucky, getting rich is not easy. Like even in the animal kingdom, Apex predators like Lions, Tigers, killer whales, Kodiak bears must be strategic in their hunting before they can feed themselves and thier cubs. The idea is that, life is not easy especially as a poor/middle class.
Mechanic are not rich yes but most with sense are not struggling to feed. Some have their houses and other properties.
By sense, I mean marrying the right woman, having a small family like maximum two or three depending on their pockets and of course not wasting funds.
Generally, mechanics are in fact doing well and some are actually rich.

Bros, I'm 35 years. I resigned from a job of 65k almost 3 years ago. We relocated to a countryside. From the savings of my wife and I, we collected pos terminals and started doing pos business. Today, we earn around 10k daily. We are paying our bills comfortably. And doing other little investments. Go and collect pos terminal and entre street to hustle. It has challenges but your determination will crush the challenges. That's my piece of advice from my own experience.

Oga let me lend my own advice.
search for GM (ghost writing), ever since you are a graduate so it's more easier even illerates are cashing out from it. It's a online skills which you can achieve with your spare time and it paid in foreign currency($).
Over procrastination is my own undoing about that skill since I ed it over last five months ago, though I have a business I am into already just needed outside hustle, those that were just two months in the skill have already winning contracts from left to right.
so my advice is just search for it and thank me later.

Well about me, I did so many odd jobs growing up and thinking about the future, but the curiosity and the fear of the future makes me kept changing them till I found the one that can guarantee and prepare me for the future. I went into the trade of Ice fish agent with assurance that the future can be fully secured if I put by best into it, so I dived into it leaving everything behind without any iota of light on sight, but I believe it would worth it in the end. I served for about 3 years with so much ion and commitment, and today with the help of God, I’m married with kids, owning a ryde and some properties to my name. Try and set a goal, then work vigorously towards it with prayers and in no time, you will see that becoming a reality 💯💯. Don’t forget with prayers cos with God on our side, nothing is impossible 💯
