I have seen several Nollywood stars. some even used the front of my parents house to shoot a movie. I only look at them to confirm the person and that's all.
The Only celebrity I can faint for is MJ.

I don't think i can be star struck by any celebrity. If he/she is someone i like, yes i can be happy for such opportunity and wear a smile on my face, that's all. The very few ones i can probably greet are Tubaba, Banky W, Davido and more of the older generations.
But then i still fit see them and still no send because of all the ones I've seen, I've never felt the urge to act gaga around them.

Some people just got inbuilt foolishness, nothing on earth would make me behave foolishly because of a celebrity. They ain't got two heads......I have seen few of them and just said hello that's all.
Davido, Ray Emodi, Didier Drogba, Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Joke Silver, Niniola, Priyanka Chopra, Amanda (AGT)......You see these people? They're all my favorites, but that doesn't mean I won't respect myself if I see them.

I some years back when Tuface came to our school in LAUTECH and students were buying tickets to go and see him. My friend told me to buy ticket so that we can go and watch him perform together.
My reply--- Go and tell Tuface to go and buy ticket too to come and see me in my hostel, I am going no where. He was surprised till today when we joked about it.

That's why celebrities have personas and as fans, we need to understand that there's a time and place for everything.
When they're off the spotlight, they're just humans, they need their privacy and we just have to respect that... But immediately they step on that spotlight for everyone to see them, then you can go gaga...
Some celebrities have come up with the idea of meet and greet where fans will be given a chance to get to meet, interact, and take pictures with their favourite celebrities.
And if we're to be honest, most of us just love their personas and not the real them.
LofP:
It's not about been uptight. I don't see why I should go gaga over a person even if he is MJ, Tu Baba, Bob Marley or whoever.
I simply don't follow others to rave about them.
And this is how celebrities are treated in Abuja. People see them and act like they aren't there.
Because after the hailing if the celeb greets you what next ? Will he award you a contract? Will he give you millions of naira ? No.
Reminds me of a real life experience of House of Rep member Akin Alabi and former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry. Akin saw him in Europe at a bar and tried to go say hi, the response he got was very cold and unfriendly.
Contrast this with what happened last year when Tony Elumelu was in the same room and Thierry Henry greeted in pidgin, which most people assume he learned from Kanu Nwankwo.
Rather than facing embarrassment especially when we were not scheduled to meet, I avoid such situations.
Sometimes not all of them even want the fame and when they are outdoors they want to live normal lives just like everyone. Just getting into their space might be irritating to them.

I see both online and offline how people freak out at the sight of a celebrity. Some even go as far as rushing or grabbing them.
I have never been to any show, let alone wanting to go up stage to grab a celebrity. I saw how a young man was kicked by Burna Boy and I felt really disgusted because such nonsense can never happen to me.
Early last year, I was on the 6th floor at BUA Group headquarters in Victoria Island where I saw Tekno and Davido sitting down at the reception having a chat, I just greeted them and sat down. I also saw how every other person on that floor was minding their business and don't really give a damn about their presence.
When I told a cousin how I feel weird on how people go crazy at the sight of these celebrities, he said it's not normal but I strongly disagree with him. I even told him how some staff at BUA Group didn't give a damn about Davido"s presence, he insisted that they are not also normal.
Do you guys here share my views, or do you think it's not normal?
Nothing wows me, not even new car, clothes, etc

I read the news here how Burna Boy ended his show because an overexcited fan climbed the stage.
After reading it, I went to my spotify app and clicked "Don't play this artist."
I think it is the height of hubris for a music artist to punish thousands of fans that paid good money to have a good time because of the sins of 1 fan.
That confirmed to me how egotistical this guy is and I blocked his music immediately.
And if you don't know, Burna Boy can never compare to Fela. Even if he wins a million Grammies he cannot lace Fela's shoes.
The impact of Fela on Nigerian society will still be felt after a hundred years. In 20 years Burna Boy will be forgotten.
One is an eternal icon while the other makes a mockery of the giants he's standing on.
I wonder why Dey keep comparing him to fela.
He no near at all. I don’t even know any of his songs.

You just haven't met your favourite celebrity yet, the one who has that effect on you.
I've also come across some celebrities and politicians before, but didn't go crazy... People would be fighting to take pictures while I'd just stand aside and watch.
But I nearly fainted because of one celebrity...🤦🤦🤦... I didn't want to go crazy, I wanted to contain myself, but my entire body was taken over by excitement.
it’s a woman’s thing. It’s not unusual for a lady to get wet at the sight of a celebrity. Una too like bad bad things .
None of them has any effect on someone like me.

Respecting Boundaries and Normalcy
The obsession with celebrities can be perplexing, especially when it leads to invasive or disruptive behavior. Your experience at the BUA Group headquarters highlights a refreshing contrast, where people maintained their composure and respected the celebrities' space.
The Value of Normalcy
Your cousin's assertion that it's not normal to remain calm around celebrities is debatable. In fact, reacting normally, as you and the BUA Group staff did, demonstrates emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and respect for boundaries.
The Dark Side of Celebrity Worship*
The frenzy surrounding celebrities can lead to unfortunate incidents, like the Burna Boy incident you mentioned. This behavior not only disrespects the celebrity's personal space but also creates an unhealthy power dynamic.
A Call for Balanced iration
While it's natural to appreciate and ire celebrities, it's essential to maintain a balanced perspective. Recognizing their humanity and respecting their boundaries is crucial.
Conclusion
Your attitude towards celebrities is not only normal but also irable. By valuing your own emotional well-being and respecting the boundaries of others, you demonstrate a healthy and mature approach to celebrity culture.

Of course burna has always been like that. It's why I tell people between Burna, Wizzy and Davido... I personally love all 3 musically but outside music they both can't compared to the king of surlere... One has too much pride and ego while the other one fakes a lot.

It is normal, my brother. I do not see why people get overly excited.
For me, I do not freak out one bit seeing any of such people.

Everyone at the hotel were just minding their business.
I don meet people wey dem sef. I just don't think it is normal how people freak out upon seeing such people.

During the days of Nollywood. When Nollywood was still Nollywood, I saw literally all the major Nollywood actors and actresses. Cos they used to come to Ojez club at Surulere back then.
From Ramsey Naoh to Genevieve to the late Larry koldsweat, to Onyeka, DJ Jimmy jat, Tuface, kennis music owners...so many of them.
This was around 2012-2013 or thereabout. I was quite young then. They just looked like normal people to me back then. I wasn't even freaking out.
I once ran into flavor at Akanu Ibiam airport Enugu in 2021. I didn't even look at him twice sef. You see that thing called self respect, it exists 100% in my life.

Was that guy that got kicked by Burnaboy on stage also a woman? There was also another guy who once held Wizkid by his leg while he was performing and it took a number of security guards to separate him from Wizkid.
What do you then have to say about them since they're not women?
