A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a governorship aspirant in the November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has questioned Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s management of the state’s security.

Chukwuma’s concerns come amidst rising insecurity in Anambra State, which has left residents living in fear.

According to Chukwuma, the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of life and property, yet Anambra State is becoming increasingly insecure.

“Insecurity in Anambra is becoming very challenging. People, particularly investors, are being kidnapped every day.

“Farmers no longer go to their farms for fear of the unknown. Monday sit-at-home has become a weekly holiday in the state.

“I strongly believe that APC, under my leadership as governor, has the capacity to address the challenges in the state,” he added.

“We live in an environment of fear. Every day, people are kidnapped, killed, and maimed. The freedom we are used to is being diminished,” Chukwuma lamented.

Chukwuma, who addressed a press conference at his Umueri country home in Anambra East Local Government Area, questioned the use of the state’s security vote, wondering what the governor does with the funds.

He appealed to the state government to take responsibility for the security of its citizens, emphasizing that insecurity should be the government’s top priority.

As the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach, Chukwuma urged the governor to ensure the safety of Ndi-Anambra returning home for the holidays.

He warned that the current state of insecurity is unsustainable and appealed to the state government to take decisive action to address the issue.

Chukwuma also expressed concerns that there is no evidence that Soludo is ing the security agencies.

“We have not seen vehicles given to the police. Nothing is being done, and all we get are empty promises and big grammar. It’s a shame,” he said.

This is not the first time Governor Soludo’s istration has faced criticism over its handling of security in the state. Other stakeholders, including the Anambra APC, have also called on the governor to beef up security in the state.

“We are also urging the media to help in the fight against insecurity in Anambra State,” the aspirant appealed.

I think Soludo is just over rated due to the expectation that he would come to do what he did in the Central Bank under Obj. We forgot that CBN governor and now Anambra governor have nothing in common. They are both far and far miles apart. Been a governor of a state is like been a President of a small nation in a federation. You are a general overseer with numerous departments that needs your urgent attention every time.
