Hello fellow nairalanders, there is a reason why I made this topic.I believe there are other people who experience something am about to share on this thread.Lets go Anytime I help people with anything I get the rewards in folds.Lets say,I helped someone today, most times, I do find myself in need of such people. These are situations I won't even expect I can need their help.My first well paying job happened as a result of this.During my secondary school days there's this lady that used to beg me for food then and I do help her with the little I can give.We became friends and after our secondary school days,I didn't see her again until I graduated from university.I was looking for job within months I landed a well paying bank job through this lady.A guy friend of mine connected me to her and she was happy to see me.She helped me with the job and that was the beginning of my breakthrough. There are other smaller situations to where I help even younger ones and I do find myself at their mercy too. These are situations I can't even expect to find myself.I have been saved from being kidnapped,my car getting demolished etc. Then I realized that my life has always been a give and take thing. So on this note, I have decided never to look down on anybody no matter what Do you have similar experiences You are free to share 8 Likes |

When I used to drive (a) tricycle popularly known as Keke, I happened to carry someone on a drop to elelenwo, Ph. That part of of Obio Akpor still has very bad roads. My client's destination was Odani, precisely. On my way back my tire went flat. If I had a 17 spanner 🔧, easy peasy. I'd lose the tire and take it to the vulcanizer. But like many others I didn't. Why should I? Would I ever have a flat tire? Me, a super man? Worse still ,that wasn't my route. My route was Woji, thus nobody knew me here to trust me enough with their own 17 spanner 🔧. Usually in cases where anything goes wrong with anyone's Keke, any other driver going along the same way could help push you with their own from behind. You might not even know him. Most times too, you'd be compelled to help someone without asking. For me its such a relief to get such help which I mostly do. But not for a flat tire, on a bad road too with myriads of deep pot holes. They can pity you but can't help. On normal days I usually dress well, let alone Sundays. Na so I begin push Keke o, my people. If it wasn't the stress of the push, it should be the very hot sun above the the heavily pregnant expanse birthing heated radiations. Every energy I exerted in making the Keke move released hot steams from my body as if my ghost was escaping, leaving behind mighty pores of sweeat which rained down in torrents of wetness soaking up my (beautiful) dress, or so I thought. Did I mention that some of the sweat wickedly made their way to my eyes. E pepper me. I kept praying to get any vulcanizer around while asking where I could get one. Not that my prayers weren't answered. It was the distance between me & the nearest one who was at the boys' school along oil mill road before stellian road. So I really needed to push. When I finally got there, many others were waiting to fix their tires so I ed the waiting queue. But at different intervals would come a Ford ranger, a Hilux, a Toyota Camry, Range Rover etc. No, no!! Don't punish me to mention all. I'd fail your eggzam. When they wind down the glass, what was the issue?? "Pump my tire(s). It sounds too easy, right?? I could have thought these cars are immune to physical non incidences like this because of the name, make, company, etc. Or the drivers who I think have everything. What would they need a vulcanizer for?? These are cars driven by people who wouldn't have anything to do with a vulcanizer by virtue of social status. These are people who wouldn't give a hoot if the same man sat beside the road begging. But there was a silently decent humility that needed no saying. They paid what he wanted despite their protests. While they felt it's just "pump the tire" and they'd head on, to him, he knew his wife and children are home. With some of his children probably in the university. That spot was his business, his head office, his gold mine, central bank. So it's not just about food. What about rents, clothing, health, transportation, utilities etc? If he needed any huge amount of 💰, it won't fall from heaven. It would come from these services he renders for which he gets Value for his work. Na!! I'm a humble person. But that experience gave me gave me clarity, widening my scope of socialisation in relation to humility. Imagine the frustration of not having a vulcanizer (that Sunday afternoon). Not just me, but those whose money can get them whatever they want. Oga,Madam!! Your fine shoes and Pams that of all days and times decided that its soles must pull out when you're all dressed up and out to show off. It would have been better if you noticed it before leaving the house, or even when you've not gone far from the house. But here you are, in the middle of showing off your fine dress, nice haircut or wigs, fancy bracelets, gold necklace, fake designer bag, holding a bottle of water half drank to drive home the packaging, blah blah blah..... At the mercy of an aboki shoe maker, hoping that your crush whom you wanted to impress, along with those whom you think are less fine compared with you don't show up. What if the aboki doesn't show up? Because funny enough, they're always scarce when we need them the most. Just imagine it. When you have good money for food it's mega chicken, Kilimanjaro, chicken republic etc. snacks?? It's cone yoghurt, parfait, short Cake biscuits, hollandia straw berry 🍓 with Scottish cookies. When you don't have much it's Iya basira's palm oil stew. You don't mind eating it there near the roadside where people are ing. D'you respect the man who pushes away trash from people's houses, snack traders in traffic. I've seen men and women descend from the throne of their big cars to buy that stuff from hawkers. No man is an island. Be humble. We all need each other. Show respect to one and one and all. 2 Likes 1 Share |
