So, with the whole problems lined out facing Nigeria as a whole, osun state government has decided to build an airport.

A welcomed idea, but a very bad timing.

At a time when we face food crisis and Niger republic stops export of grains to Nigeria, where people can hardly feed and artisans can't find jobs.

These set of artisans, not wanting to be a nuisance to their country chose to go into farming to make ends meet, until the economy improves.

Our dear osun state government now feels it is proper to acquire these lands for an airport (which is a very wrong timing).

The government should be thinking of how to provide fertilizers, transport and general logistics to these people. But unfortunately, only the rich is considered.

Also, the land acquisition is too big for an airport. Comprising of two local governments being involved.

Notice is been given, but no plan has been put in place to know the exact area of land being acquired.

To make matters worse, the land owners are yet to do survey on these lands, hence the government winy be paying for the land.
As the government will only pay for crops such as cocoa, plantain, kola, pal kernel fruits e.t.c.

For those who have corn, pepper, tomatoes and yearly plant farms, they will get nothing.

Now, the king of this village is laying claims to be the over of all lands and the owner of all palm fruits, hence he intends on collecting money for all palm kernel trees on the vast hectares of land.

What will happen to the over 1,000 people that farm on this land?

By the time the government pays peanut, what will these farmers gain?

I experienced something a few days back. So, it was believed that the osun state ministry of land and acquisition would be coming to count the valuables on each land. No plan, nothing.

To my surprise, the population of people who came for their family land to be counted at a particular area was too much.

I couldn't help but wonder how much each person will get if the government eventually pays off.

I believe the government needs to do more for its citizens than just giving more problems.

I spoke to a retired army general about this development and he was highly disappointed.

His words were "is airport the next thing to do?".

Too many problems facing osun state. Even the governor is becoming a torn in his own home town with a lot of people hoping he doesn't win a second term.

To make matters worse, the king is having so many court cases of land grabbing. He is intent on selling whatever he can at the expense of the locals.

Who will come to the aid of these unprivileged people who chose to stand by their own but are being oppressed?

With Ibadan airport bring upgraded to international airport and akure airport being in use, how many people would actually use the proposed airport in osun state.

With Ibadan being the sit of power of the old western region, the Ibadan airport which was commissioned I June , 1982 by Joseph wayas has always been a shadow of itself with little to no activities. Ibadan has a massive commercial hub couldn't make use of its airport very well.

I can't help but wonder what use the proposed airport will be useful for in Ede, osun state.

Former governor Aregbesola turned the airport at iddo osun to a cargo airport almost a decade ago and till date, it is not functioning.

How can a governor be so insensitive to the plight of its people.

Yes, development must be made, but what about the timing? There are major crisis in the country and all the dancing governor is thinking of is chasing hundreds of farmers from their land, so as to build an airport that can never be beneficial to the state in anyway, except for the upper class who can afford to land private jets there.

What a shame.

this shows you we don't have leaders nor s but clueless fellows who were just power drunk went ahead to seize it by all means possible.

the funny thing here is the morons in Ede as we speak will be jubilating over a project that won't yield a thing over a life time for them, come to think there is an existing airport in that tiny state.

same we did in Ogun State that is locked within two airports (Ibadan and Lagos) of not more than 45 to 60min drive if our roads are in good condition constructing an airport.

That is how they steal money.

Infrastructural projects that have no real value for the masses.

Very disheartening. Just read about abike dabiri begging people in diaspora to come back home. Come back to do what?

A woman bought 10 acres of land to farm earlier this year. Govt says they are not paying for the land, what advise would one give such a woman if she has another chance to travel out or buy another farm land?
