If you know Paul Alaje, you'll know hes one the most sound economists we have. listen to him very well especially the first five minutes of the interview.

Also, listen to the important points he made at 43:04, 43:41 and 43:49

Finally, listen to the advice he gave Tinubu at 47:03

In this interview, one concept was prominent all through and that is PRODUCTION! we can make no headway without it.

'it will be well in the long run'..... when is this "long run"? when we are all dead?

meanwhile ronu batidiots are busy defending the idiotic policy because of tribalism and partisanship.

CURRENCY STABILITY should be our aim otherwise we are going no where. That was what Obi was trying to say.

Floating of currency xan only work for a very productive nation where their exports sures import, the reverse is thea case in our Country but the abuse of dollar sales by Bankers handling the official rate (round tripping) is what necessitated the floating .

I understand but it was silly.. in order to kill a rat, you burn down the house.

Instead of fight the corruption in fuel subsidy, you stop the whole thing.

Instead of fighting the corruption in FX subsidy, you float the currency and tank your economy.

Clueless leaders! πŸ˜‚

Production is a good way out but in the absense of production it will make sense to make imports very expensive. Especially for basic consumer goods and luxuries. That will drastically reduce the demand for supply of forex and afford the govt the dollar to defend the naira deeper.

Most of our elders don’t see anything wrong with doing the wrong things for money
That’s why he is still protecting those corrupt people
You don’t have to expose them but they should stop!

Nobody can fight the corruption in fuel subsidy because a typical Nigerian is a criminal. Where do you want to start from? Even Nigerians who live in border towns sell Nigerian cheap petrol to other countries and pocket the difference. We brought this mess upon ourselves. That's why all three major presidential hopefuls of the last election said they'd remove the subsidy.

It is only an idiot that will take two hard decisions at the same time without bothering what the consequences will be.

You remove subsidy and floated the Naira at the same time. Calling for total inflation that you can't control.

Now hardship everywhere.

Lol.....this is why they said Nigeria has an overabundance of fools

Just imagine what this one wrote. In his mind, he has made a reasonable point. Floating a currency in order to defend it in the same sentence

In Nigerian's case, Naira was devalued.

These mofos are condused.

We will think about it. It is better to try and fail than not to try at all. Others before Tinubu didn’t try it at all, the courageous Tinubu has tried it and it seems we cannot live with it. He may consider a review

Big mistake. Tinubu in a bid to show he hit the ground running made the worst economic decison ever in the history of this country.
Who leaves the value of a Nation's currency to be decided and determined by Abokis on the street.

Tinubu will handle economy, Shettima will handle security. Confused agbadorians

lies as usual.

Buhari did same, removed subsidy (2015) and devalued the naira (2016), but even the morose unproductive cattle herder knew not to do both simultaneously, and even the one he did non-simultaneously, he backtracked on both policies when shit started to hit the fan.

You are either just plain lying or just plain ignorant, both hallmarks of your kind.

According to my understanding, this man is saying that the subsidy removal is necessary but the money realising from it should be used to defend the Naira grin grin grin
