That's what one will naturally assume at first glance but when you consider that Ojukwu only declared Biafra as a "time out" to lick their sounds following the overthrow of Ironsi , and when you consider Ojukwu's invasion and annexation of the Midwest region from where he launched an attack to capture Lagos and the entire Western Region, you will now see that Biafra was never the option for ojukwu and his Zikists in Enugu but rather the colonization of all of southern Nigeria.


I believe this was the main reason for ojukwu declaring Biafra.
