I love this reply.
Most countries have their national TV/ radio stations that tell you what the government is doing. 1 thing I like about NTA is the newscasters, their presentation and pronunciation is absolutely on point Not all these presenters we have now in private TV and radio stations that call themselves OAP with very bad English and presentation skills

This is a wrong approach, and I'm starting to suspect that some pro APC figures are the ones pretending to be igbos while making this sort of counter productive advice to "their igbo brothers". The igbos should never allow this practice to go on. If it stiffens as it is about to, igbos will be totally removed from the government of their land, and that is evil, because the net effectson the ordinary people will be huge.

Every day here and in other places, you see mocking articles about igbos in Indonesian or Cambodian or Indian or Thai prisons, for one offence or the other. Some are graduates and would have been working in Nigeria if some people didnt corner the army, the police, the customs, the banks and insurance companies for themselves and their brothers. Marginalisation is evil and must be rooted out. Simple.

It is time for igbos to wake up and give this government the middle finger! Igbos need to throw caution to the wind and confront this evil government. Igbos need to fight back. A government that is desperately trying to derail their progress as a people is in power and keeping quiet is not an option.

The few posts of yours I've read give the impression that you're a thoughtful, reasonable person. So this one here is quite a surprise. By the way, I'm an Igbo man.

How exactly do you propose that the Igbo should fight back?

The NTA itself is a waste, it exists to waste money. It achieves nothing. NTA should be shut down or sold to a private investor. Nothing owned by government is ever efficient, productive or profitable.

Good Luck to Nigeria

I was not talking of just the NTA here. What's my business with an organisation that should have been scrapped many years ago?
I was talking of the general anti igbo stand of the ruling APC. Many igbos think that overtime, the bad intentions of the APC towards the south east, can be dealt with through silence nad diplomacy. That won't work and that will only help to worsen the situation.

Someone who loathes you because of whom you are, will only love you if you become someone else. The very people in power today are actively activating all sorts of economic policies that are outrightly decimating the igbo middle class. Our youths are turning to violence and crimes, because of lack of jobs and this includes well trained graduates. You have to prepare a solid response, since politics in Nigeria has gone totally tribal.

It is either you start to allign solidly with other parties and regions or religious groups, to vigorously oppose those of them in the APC perpetuating these evils, by forming serious political alliance, serious political parties with common benevolent agenda, or you activate an avalanche of civil disobedient measures to pressure the government in a way that will ultimately stimulate policy changes. But keeping quiet, while pretending like nothing bad is going on, will never improve the south easts circumstances under the current anti igbo dispensation.

In any event, power concedes nothing without a tussle. Tinubu himself, proved that. He is a product of NADECO. He did worse under NADECO. It is the ruling party that elevated tribal politics to statecraft under APC. Not me. Not you. Not the igbos, so i refuse to be patronising with my choice of words. The south-east as at today, is at a generational crossroad. How the leaders of that region reacts to these emerging events, will not only shape the future of the region for the coming decades, but also the future of all igbos everywhere.

The bolded above is the direct answer to my question. Excellent insight with requisite alternatives. I will try to give an expanded reply later. For now, I remind myself that the Igbo are the authors of their current circumstances.

Someone who loathes you because of whom you are, will only love you if you become someone else.

There's a lot the Igbo have DONE to provoke the current reactions of the APC. I mean actual actions and positions taken.

So I ask, if you were a Yoruba or Hausa-Fulani, would you do anything different from APC? Would your attitude to the Igbo be different?

At the Lancaster Conferences of the 1950s we had the chance to divide Nigeria and have our own country but we chose the path of greed and aggrandizement. Today is the result.

At the Lancaster Conferences both Awolowo and the Sarduana wanted to divide Nigeria, but Zik vetoed their efforts. It's interesting that the APC is a Fulani-Yoruba alliance....call it a half century of delayed irony. shocked

A chance missed rarely presents itself again.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

This your Lancaster drivel is so jejune to the topic. It has been overused, overflogged and over abused. that as at the period, Azikiwe was the leader of the NCNC. That means The National Council of Nigeria and The Camerouns. He was obviously representing not just the east, but the Cameroons too. There were also citizens of Midwestern Nigeria, who had their origins from the east, but found themselves in the midwest, as a result of colonial boundary adjustments. Zik himself, just like Ojukwu and Nzeogwu, were all born in Northern Nigeria, and had all sorts "acculturation" over there.

Essentually, Whether he stood against the notion of inserting such clauses in the independence constitution or not, is not a good reason for the rest of Nigeria, to try perpetuating a permanent policy of genocide/ethnic cleansing against the south east people. It's like saying that because Lugard amalgamated the north and the south into one Nigeria, people of Nigeria cannot do anything to separate from the queer union if they so wish. That is absolute bunkum. Nothing that Zik did or said, nor any political position that he took while alive, justifies the policy of "black on black apartheid", as is being enforced by the clan of ethnic irridentists that populate the janja-weed party in the south-east today.

We agree on one thing.

Appropriate.

or you activate an avalanche of civil disobedient measures to pressure the government in a way that will ultimately stimulate policy changes.
This has been done. What are the results so far? Infiltration of such groups by anti-Igbo agents and a near destruction of Imo state. How do you weed out the likes of Uzodinma and Co?

But keeping quiet, while pretending like nothing bad is going on, will never improve the south easts circumstances under the current anti igbo dispensation.
Agreed, but other than aligning with other groups (some of whom are numerically weaker and and non-influential than Igbos), I don't see any way out.

The south-east as at today, is at a generational crossroad. How the leaders of that region reacts to these emerging events, will not only shape the future of the region for the coming decades, but also the future of all igbos everywhere.
So who are the elites you see activating such an ideology or movement? Nigerian elites regardless of ethnicity are very unintelligent when it comes to promoting good deeds. Igbo elites are not any different.

It's neither jejune nor bunkum and we all know it. Some decisions once made can't be easily undone. That's an unfortunate truth about life.

The Igbo in the USA &UK are acting out the same script they used to destroy Nigeria. When the results manifest in another 50 years our grandchildren will claim nothing we did justifies whatever blowback happens to them.

If nothing Zik did justifies Igbophobia, then nothing Buhari or Tinubu have done justifies your own call for civil disobedience as an option in a struggle for Igbo rights. Will you and your family be in front of the line to take the Army & Mopol bullets? Read that again to make sure you get it right.

Zik did wrong and you want Nigerians to live with it and we lived with it for many decades.

APC is doing wrong and the Yoruba & Fulani say we should live with it for many decades to come.

In which case, everyone mind their home and family and after many decades of APC rule we can sit down and work out some real justice. In the meantime Nigeria will take care of itself.

We can have a substantive discussion, but the tactic of dismissing the root causes and thus solutions can only result in rhetorical chaos.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

That's fair methinks. The unfortunate issue here is that we're dealing with Black Africans.

Think about this -

Nigeria got independence in 1960. Let's even say it had 20 years of growing pains and restarted democracy in 1979.

South Africa abolished Apartheid in 1990, that's when Blacks there STARTED playing on a somewhat level field with other races. Now 30 years later the average Black South African is richer than the average Nigerian. In fact migration to South Africa is in high demand in Nigeria. It's likely Blacks of South Africa are the 2nd richest national group of Blacks in the world, if not them then it might be those in the UK.

Black Americans are the richest national group of Blacks in the world. They got civil rights in 1965.

Nigeria nko? Nigeria is the Poverty Capital of the World. World champion of poverty, there's no country that is officially not at war or in an emergency that is poorer than Nigeria. Nigeria has the largest number of Negroes of all countries in the world. Think, think, think the implications, I leave it for MadPeople to figure out for themselves. But we have Dangote, Agboola, Don Jazzy and Elumelu. We're great!!!

So the Igbo are in a tight spot. If we were dealing with any other race maybe we would have a chance. This is a very dark corner of the Dark Continent. You've been warned, take the hint. Nobody ever lost betting against Nigeria. Ever, ever.

God Save the King biko!!!

Good Luck to Nigeria.
