Akwa Ibom state is the second largest oil producing state. Despite billions of allocation given to the state by the federal government, nothing much to show. My brothers and sisters there are living in penury, no work , nothing to show. A lot spent so much resources, gone to school even to Ph.d level still no work. Godswill Akpabio the clownish senate president now and Udom Emmanuel did nothing than looting the state even the present state governor Umoh Eno won't be an exception.

Because they managed to construct roads and built some infrastructures, they've tried, and fóolish people keep on singing their praises to high heavens without knowing how much these people gulped every month. Tackle poverty in Akwa Ibom by giving our graduates jobs ,create skills acquisition centres for those who are unable to go to school. The rate of poverty and suffering in that state is saddening and does not depict the fact that Akwa Ibom is one of the richest state in Nigeria.

How Akwa Ibom person for suffer tell me ? Or having the thought of going to other states to do house girl/boy for meagre pay. When I reason dis thing my head de boil. Politicians no go die better. God punish them.

Yet, most of the state on that list is a filthy mess. Bayelsa normally with It's population of 2.5million people should be as fine as UAE or Qatar.

UYO is Nigeria's best secret. Infrastructure is die. The only Nigerian state that has a working airline.

However, they need more of Human Capital Development. They need to pull their people out of poverty. If they are able to do that, The state will be one of the best in the South

AkwaIbom and Rivers has made good use of their oil money for their infrastructure. I don't know what Delta and Bayelsa are doing except to dey drink ogogoro

For the one of Lagos….give them time to work on the numbers and cook the books! They’re just a little over one year in office!

What’s so apparent by these figures is the effort put in by some really evil hegemonic scum to diminish as much as possible the derivation any state in the area now known as the south-east gets! We all how the Buhari gov’t was paying Anambra derivation payments to Delta state for years, until Governor Obiano put a stop to the injustice!

Yet Buhari & Kyari who cannot even boost of a spoonful of crude oil in their region frustrated & stopped a Delta state born Tony Elumelu from the acquisition of oil well. That's witchcrafts

People who doesn't produce or contribute anything meaningful to Nigeria's economy except infected & tired cows are the ones deciding for those who owns the oil wells.

That one, the federal gov’t doesn’t want to come clean on! How do you want them to be paying a ‘nyamuree’ state like Imo 13% of proceeds from sales of the gas they steal from the state!? Paying Imo that much money is a bitter pill they’re not prepared to swallow, and this is why they installed a obedient house-nigger slave as governor in the state so questions are not asked!

Goodvibes007:
6. Ondo State
Ondo State, located in the southwestern part of Nigeria, is an emerging player in the country’s oil production. The state is known for its significant oil & natural gas reserves and has attracted investments from multinational oil companies like Chevron.

The state is said to have about 14 billion barrels of crude oil in its wells combined and delivers about 60,000 BOPD.

7. Anambra State
Anambra State stands as a significant player in the country’s oil sector, boasting 15 operational oil wells and a substantial reserve of 50 billion barrels of oil. With the capability to produce up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), the state contributes significantly to the nation’s oil output.

The state’s oil industry is ed by various oil companies, among which Sterling Oil Exploration and Production Limited stands out.

8. Edo State
Edo State, located in southern Nigeria, is recognized for its contribution to the country’s oil production sector. With an average output of 33,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), the state plays a significant role in Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Companies like Pan Ocean Oil Nigeria Limited play a pivotal role in harnessing the state’s petroleum resources and driving economic growth.

9. Lagos State
Lagos State, although not traditionally known as an oil-producing state, is a major player in Nigeria’s oil industry. The state is home to several major oil companies like Lekoil Nigeria Limited & Pinnacle Oil & Gas and has a significant number of oil-related activities.

The state’s major oil wells located at Aje oil field in Dahomey Basin deliver about 40,000 BOPD, and its contribution to the country’s oil production should not be overlooked.

10. Abia State
Last but not least is Abia state, an oil-rich state located in the southeastern region of the country with over 100 wells, with 50 currently operational. Despite this potential, the state’s oil resources remain under-exploited

Only half of the existing oil wells are in operation, with the majority located in Ukwa West. Despite producing 11,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), the state falls short of realizing its full capacity.

These states contribute significantly to Nigeria’s overall oil production and are key players in the exploration, production, and export of oil.

The oil industry has had a profound impact on the economies of these states, providing employment opportunities, generating revenue for the government, and attracting investments. However, it has also brought challenges such as environmental degradation and conflicts over resource control.

According to a 2024 investigation by Daily Trust, nine of Nigeria’s oil-producing states owe 1.6 trillion naira combined. As Nigeria continues to develop its oil industry, it is important to recognize the significance of these top oil-producing states and their efforts in sustainable oil production.

No Lagos?
Lagos is temporarily out for now because Folawiyo and co have some issues unresolved.

However, the state’s stream of revenue from the oil derivation has been stalled, as Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited (YFP), a wholly indigenous firm and operator of the OML 113 offshore field in Badagry; from where Lagos derives its oil-producing status has ceased further explorations due to challenges yet to be resolved.

“Between 2018 and 2019, the state government received from the Federal Government N131 million as part of oil derivation. And, between 2020 and 2021, the state government also received N3.78 billion,” Biodun Ogunleye, Lagos commissioner for energy and mineral resources, told journalists on Wednesday.
