I’ve been checking everyday for the last two months to get an appointment for my mother b1/b2 visa at the Abuja embassy. I am not able to see any dates, and I can only view the current month ( eg in March I could only see March but nothing ever is available) but also see that neither Lagos nor Abuja has any available dates. Yet, I am seeing people booking dates in October. Is this happening to others? When I asked the help desk about this , their response was pretty unhelpful as usual.

It appears some Nigerian Banks have blocked theur USD denominated ATM Cards. I tried to pay for something last week and my card was declined. Two other people tried to help - same thing. Different banks. I sent an email to my officer - no response. I don't understand Nigerian Banks honestly....

Little negligence like not finishing ds-160 submition (some will just generate code and proceed to appointment booking) can cause this kind of delay because the US embassy usually release date for you or considers you based on the tentative travel date in your visa application.
But i don't think the above is the issue with your mom's inability to book an appointment. Normally any visa applicant going for B2 pleasure ( wedding , naming ceremony, graduation, honeymoon, holiday etc) is not counted as a compulsory traveller by the embassy , hence granting you desire date might be difficult except by pure chance or luck.

You can raise ticket or send mail to the help desk at least for her to pick a date and later she might gamble emergency appointment (which i don't think she qualified for ) . Ciao.

delete the pending request and start afresh, i had and others had the same issue (something went wrong prompt) and it worked

It’s not an issue at all. I helped my family to pay using a US card as well and they had no issue.

How many times can I possibly reschedule my appointment on avits ? I booked for June , then saw may as available date after I booked.

Send an email to them. They will mostlikely resolve it.

US embassy rarely sort this kind of negligence (not meant for insult) issues and they don't usually draw their staffs backward duty calendars.
If you do not see reschedule option in your mom's avits profile that means she is paying another visa fee.
If there is reschedule option quickly click on it perhaps by luck they will grant mummy one more chance . Good LucK.

NOTE! US embassy cannot auto-reschedule a visa applicant from Lagos to Abuja except purely on a system glitch or if Lagos embassy will be closing for a while. If you have the evidence of the abnormal auto - reschedule then you should be able to win another appointment for your mom.

Well they did auto-reschedule it, originally her appointment was April 17th Lagos, changed to April 9th Abuja. See the email I missed:

Log a complaint/query on AVITS. Attach a copy of your DS 160 confirmation page. It will be changed.

You need to follow up with them as they can be slow at times. If you can, chat with them and it can be done almost immediately.

Follow up - especially if your appointment date is close.

You are in luck. It was an error as you did not tell them you want the interview in Abuja.

Simple log a complaint on AVITS and attach a copy of the first appointment and a copy of the email you received.

These days, they are fond of changing appointment dates so I advise everyone to check AVITS every single day till you attend your interview.

There is no transcript on home ties that will help you as each person's circumstance is different from the next person.

What I know helps is if you have a spouse, children, aged parents, good job ...in that order.

Even with all these, it is only God that gives one US visa. Pray for mercy, grace and favour. Prayer works! Good luck!

Unpredictable. It can be done in a few minutes if you keep disturbing them. Otherwise, they may not attend to it for weeks - that is if they attend to it at all before your appointment.

The live chat is really helpful. Raise the ticket and follow up via the live chat.
