Your mum is applying for B2-visa (pleasure) therefore she is not qualify for an emergency appointment.
If you want to give it a try the invitation letter has to be a tailored one and must present your mum as a must/prime attendee whose absence will affect the ceremony.

It's a technical issue and you need to . It took a lot of raising tickets and calling them back to back before it was eventually resolved.

Just be persistent and call every 3 days also let them know of the urgency cos your payment validity expires in July.

Don’t pay for a new MRV yet. Mail the guys at LagosNIV/Abuja center, they will sort it for you. In my case they just mailed me a date (good date). I did not need to schedule one. Take note I was for IW and our payment issues are different.

Also it might take them a month to reply you and there is an email format for lodging the complaint.

You can't use your receipt. US Embassy is different in each country.

It's either you come back to nigeria to attend your interview or you apply for a new interview in the new country and pay new fees.


Besides school starts in May, if you get the visa you will still resugn

I suppose you can try Abuja.

Emergency appointment may or may not work gor for reasons such as a wedding.

Think of it this way..the only ppl absolutely necessary for a wedding to take place are the bride and groom.

I’m trying to get an IW dropbox appointment for my mum, for some reason I thought the timerange to qualify for IW was 24 months only to see that it’s been reduced to 12 months.

Anyways, her most recent US visa expired on April 15, 2024. The earliest submission date I see on the portal right now (for IW) is April 23, 2025.

Do you think it’s possible to get a dropbox date before April 15, I’m really keeping faith alive!🙂

Keep the faith. Keep checking mostly weekends. Mine expired April 8th 2024, saw no dates for IW in Abuja and Lagos. On a Wednesday, lagos dates for 18th till May were released, still no Abuja dates and 18th won't have worked as I would no longer be qualified. I prayed oh, I prayed hard and last week, late Sunday, I saw dates for Abuja. First date there was 8th of April and I quickly booked. So keep checking

It depends on the airline. I had an experience with Qatar Airway and my bag was delivered to my doorsteps.
If you are asked to come pick your bags i do not see why you should go and pick the bags.

its a crazy system here in nigeria...and it has even made many people, including even the regulators who are supzd to know better...think that the nonsense things that go on in this country is perfectly normal....since the airline lost your bag, the onus is on them to find and ship it to your current address...in the usa..you would even be paid extra compensation money based on how long the bag was missing for.

since u are in nigeria. the dysfunctional country, you most likely gat no choice, you can try pleading with them to waybilll the bag to you, and pay them out of pocket if necessary...............

Hi Mamabella.

Sometimes your lugage might be put on the wrong flight because the scanner reads it incorrectly or it doesn't even get on the aircraft at all and still at the departure airport.

Or, it falls off the the belt system as its moving through. engers also grab the wrong bag and don't realize it till later and then return it to the airport.

There might be lot of reasons they want you to come , and the reasons applies to all advanced countries.

1. They may want you to come and file Property Irregularity Report (PIR) for tracking and compensation ( if the luggage has been lost completely ).

2. What of if the luggage is found already and they re-scanned it (necessary for temporary lost bags or items) and discovered illicit drugs inside it, will the airport authority still ship the bags to you ?

Not all lost and found luggages/baggages are quickly shipped to the owners because criminals (even some airport staffs) might have compromised the contents and they want you to come and file PIR.

Or the bag is lost completely (they wont tell you this while you are at home) and they want to compensate you . Good LucK.

I have also tried to pay with my card, but the transaction keeps failing. I used both UBA and TransferWise, but it was unsuccessful.

Can someone please advise me on what to do? I have emailed and called the call centre multiple times, but nothing has changed. I know I can get an expedited appointment if I can get the standard one.

please when you were trying to pick a date did you select your annotation as empty or waiver for you to have an IW appointment?

Cancel all pending appointments on your current profile and abandon it. Then open another avits profile entirely. When paying your MRV go and pay it physically (by cash) in the banK. Good LucK.

You did not start the whole process appropriately in the beginning. Card payment is faster but it usually comes with issues if your card is not absolutely guaranteed for prompt payment . In that case i usually recommend physical payment at the bank which has never failed me

Cancelling all pending appointments will not solve your issues automatically but it will take burden of multiple profiles off your neck so that you can abandon that profile and open another one. May be you need experienced person to guide you. But opening another profile will solve your issue.

Okay, but I already paid once at the bank. It was because I didn’t see any appointment portal a day after paying that led to me having duplicate s as I was trying different things.


I even see it now that my bank payment was successfully done but still can’t view the appointment page.

If you say card payment is better , why can’t I just for it? I can give you my number so you can help with the profile thing but not sure what other hell than to delete pending request , if that will work. Thanks!!
