You can add Ebonyi rice and sweet potatoes and other beans varieties but this Egusi , pls no lie abeg. 4 Likes |

waternogetememy: AmuDimpka: No be only cook. Lol. The lie you tell yourself. Egusi even has several delicacy varieties cooked by the Yoruba to start with. It's Igbo who claim other people's delicacies. Yoruba simply cook their own delicacies which are several, as mentioned below. In fact, Yoruba have got these several delicacies because that was what was required whenever a sick person was brought to an IFA man in the old time. The first thing required was to cook several delicacies for the sick person to eat because it could be hunger that got the person sick in the first place. That was how Yoruba got their several delicacies. Through IFA creative ideas and principles. Egusi which is a Yoruba word is an Orunmila's soup as a matter of fact. Egusi has got several delicious delicacy varieties cooked by the Yoruba. Dsimmer: 2 Likes |

DeepThroater:I won't answer your questions until you actually lay claims to any of them. "This is not your own" is different from "this is my own" Most of you keep saying it's not of Igbos origin without telling us the origin. Speak of Solomon and two harlots. 1 Like |

If Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria, then it will take a miracle to get tribalism out of Nigeria. And it will take God's intervention for Nigeria to grow and prosper. Nigerians can bicker and fight over something as insignificant as "egusi soup".

Bulldozer90: Egusi is a plant that is grown mostly in the middlebelt and in some parts of Kebbi and also in Taraba and southern Adamawa. The melon plant has to be exposed to dry and ferment in the field before it is harvested and so its growing cycle is best in areas like the middlebelt which do not have a longer and wetter rainy season like the south. You do know I can easily get data on Egusi production by state from the web ? Liars 1 Like |
