Help! A Phone Thief Created An Opay Card And Withdrew My Sister's Funds (22270 Views)
(1) Go Down)
Trendy247: 5:07pm On Feb 28, 2024 |
My sister's handbag was snatched at Knifepoint by an Aboki man around airforce junction in Port-harcourt. The bag contained her phone, Zenith bank ATM card and other valuables. Unfortunately, her phone wasn't locked. The thief transferred all her money from her Zenith bank to her OPay , then quickly created an OPay card and withdrew the funds by midnight. We were able to track the exact location of the phone the following day using her google , before the thief removed the . We urgently need help in identifying and tracing the individual(s) who assisted with the OPay card creation and withdrawal. we have called Opay customer care, but they are not willing to assist. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Trendy247: To her own Opay or the criminal Opay ? Sadly nothing can be done, Best is to pay police to track the phone and hopefully find the culprit. 36 Likes 3 Shares |

That Airforce junction is very deadly at night, Some years back me and my bro was coming from Airforce to Rumola, when we reach Airforce to wait for cab, 2 guys approached us begging for arms, we declined and said we had no money, so one of them tried to change am for us, he said if na GUN OR KNIFE I hold ona for don give us money and ona fone abi, Omo two seconds we and my brother change am immediately for dem as ijaw boys, (Ona think say we dey fear gun/knife) we throw one/two PH slacks and we ready fight, omo d guys just left us 99 Likes 4 Shares |

Trendy247: How was he able to carry out the transfer from zenith bank to the opay ? Did your sister supplied her the /pin? jamesversion: On a second thought, I think the transfer is possible because everything the thief needs to reset the pin is right there in front of him, the Sim and the atm card. Op, Let your sister count her losses and move on. I'm Sorry for her loss though 67 Likes 1 Share |

I pray God replenish her loss, and police were able to trace the phone without compromise. Reading the story, just make me wondering how naija think when it come to evil av. Now it will be difficult for any bank to help bcuz the transaction look more of like self induced. I think best options is to start doing the sim lock and if possible have two s one with ATM and those mobile stuff and the other without any e-banking except ur sms. 1 Like |

Sorry about that. Next time let she be more security conscious. You can easily lock your Sim card nau. No access even more f the phone is flashed. Except with . Other alternatives, For opay, if you lost or misplaced your phone, dial *955*131# while card misplaced or stolen, dial *955*132# Of course, with another phone. 7 Likes 1 Share |

fidelmarshal199: I wanted to ask d same question. Cos I know you need a /biometric access to open a bank app. Also you need a pin to send money after confirming that number and amount on the bank app. 14 Likes |

jamesversion: All he had to do was his fingerprint on her phone to unlock her bank app(Opay, Zenith or anybank) or reset her and pin using otp then transferd the money to her opay then reset her opay pin with same otp method b4 applying for card through any nearby agent(who should be arrested because the opay agent should know better that the information is that of a female but maybe the aboki guy used a female to get the card) after which he withdrew the money. Always lock your sim card and your phone and also don't use fingerprint in unlocking your bank apps or any app you consider private. 6 Likes 1 Share |

All this opay easy to access easy to defraud CBN should intervene and enforce strict measures Also incase you don't know, fingerprint is the most unsafe mode of protecting anything on your phone Fingerprint security is as good as no security you are better off with s 4 Likes |
