NNPC To Allocate 6m Barrels Of Crude Oil To Dangote Refinery In Decembe (12310 Views)
nairalanda1(m): 4:37pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
marlow1962: If you want petrol at N65, that means that government would be paying a subsidy of N800 per liter and above, up from N35 in Jan 2012. There is a reason why GEJ wanted to remove subsidy. In 2011, subsidy costs had tripled compared to 2010. 1 Like 1 Share |

Nigeria state governors are clueless. Can't states governors build their refineries? Especially states like Rivers, Lagos Delta, Akwa ibom, ondo, imo, bayelsa and that useless state Edi state. Nigeria still got a long way to go. |

In normal folk's language.... That would be around $550 million worth of crude oil, based on current NNPC price cap. You are welcome.... |

Sleekfingers: No state would be able to afford to concentrate such enormous amount of money on just one project that would take years to come on stream and debar them opportunity to work on other sectors YOU would also complain when every other infrastructures deteriorate or is not built because there's no money. 1 Like |

PHAYOL81: I strongly disagree with you....some states can build refineries. It might take 4- 8years, depending on the capacity. And still have some money to do other projects. Rivers, Kaduna, Delta and Lagos can do it. The last time I checked, they can apply for loan for such project. |

Sleekfingers: Does your state governor have a spare 3-5 billion dollars? Even five of them? Dangote that built refinery has borrowed a lot of money to finish the thing. The banks are happy to loan him the money because he gat collateral. Most states don't have the collateral that would make banks risk loaning them money. 1 Like |

Sleekfingers: Rivers state has a budget of 555 billion naira for this year(less than 1bn dollars). A refinery the size of Dangote cost him 19 billion dollars. Knowing how wayo states are, I doubt any bank would borrow state governors billions of naira for 'wefinery' |

as if they are doing dangote a favour.... fact check....: nigeria is havin it harder to sell crude oil in the international market.... russia and others are sellin it much cheaper.... it as been in the news for years now.... forget dollars and concentrate only on nigeria.... |
marlow1962(m): 6:25pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
nairalanda1:Is it not a shame that since petrol was 65 naira, the so called giant of Africa can have 1 refinery ( leave 2 first). We export on a extremely cheaper rate, and import in extremely high rate. But we can budget $5m to buy yacht. Uptill today, the profit they said they saved up buy removing subsidy, nobody talks about it today, but let it be that obi did something, you will see all the hungry cowards go berserk. |
nairalanda1(m): 6:32pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
marlow1962: Well, back when it was N65, we were refining at 10% capacity. And the government was still corrupt Also, the subsidy we were paying on petrol and other refined products is why we did not have refineries. Paying a subsidy meant that refineries did not earn enough money to pay for improvements....and it left them reliant on government largesse...opportunity to steal and to loot. As an example...when GSM came to Nigeria...NTEL was competing with MTN and Econet, later on Glo. NTEL barely exists today because government was subsidizing it. At the end, the company could not make the profits that the others made, and went largely out of business. Ghana pays N1400 per liter for fuel, and has two working refineries. No subsidy, refinery runs at a profit. |
marlow1962(m): 6:43pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
nairalanda1:Ghana paying N1400 is going to be child's play with what Nigerians will soon be paying soon. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubia, UAE, Brunei etc are oil producing countries, but you can NEVER go there and buy petrol at exorbitant price. We harbor and romance corruption too much that's why we as a nation is not moving forward. You can't try that in all these countries. Western men used democracy to destabilize African nations, I will stand with Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia anytime they say they're not African, black skin sucks. Black skin knows nothing but suffering and smiling are same time. |

FitCorper: When the host country doesn't have enough crude to sell.. What do you expect him to do. NNPC won't sustain all these refinery...they couldn't sustain the modular refineries..is it a 650,000bpd refinery they will sustain... They will rather sell to foreign clients to earn USD.. except dangote agrees to pay USD for petrol which means it will be quite expensive for Nigerians that will be buying the end products in naira |
pocom35: 6:55pm On Nov 03, 2023 |
Yankee101:Your point exactly? Is that one man going to swallow it or refine it |

I sometimes wonder what the ppl that work in these giant edifices do all day long, week and week, month after month. etc. It has to be the most non productive, inefficient limited liability company on the entire continent. ![]() ![]() |
