Muyiwa Adejobi, the public relations officer of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), says it is ridiculous for Nigerians to believe that officers can not afford expensive phones.

Adejobi, while responding to a query on his X handle, on Saturday, said netizens need to be “straight and be objective” when questioning police officers’ source of income.

HOW IT STARTED

On Friday, Adejobi posted a picture of one David Victoria, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and secretary to the inspector general of Police (IGP), who appears to be holding a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and a diamond-branded watch around her wrist.

“We have beautiful and intelligent ones in the force. This is DSP David Victoria, secretary to the IGP. Happy weekend. Ire o,” Adejobi wrote.

Netizens, who reacted to the post, asked for a disclosure of the officer’s salary that could afford a cellphone worth N1 million.

An X also requested that Victoria’s statement be printed out to track her cash inflow claiming her salary cannot afford such an expensive gadget.

DSP Victoria

Her cellphone, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, is worth over a million naira. I don’t wanna talk about her wristwatch, which is also not cheap. Where did she get the money from, and how much is her monthly salary that she was able to afford all that?” the social media wrote.

In response, Adejobi said police officers are not paupers, while he asked the X to withdraw his statement.

Police officers are not paupers. Withdraw your statement. It’s ridiculous to us to say a DSP can’t use Samsung fold 2…. you need to reason straight and be objective. Do you know what it is to be a DSP?” Adejobi said.

Checks by TheCable showed that a 256GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 price ranges from ₦700,000 – ₦750,000 based on location. Also, for a 512GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, the price ranges from ₦800,000 – ₦850,000.

It's either she's from a well to do home or she's a cunt to the Ogas at the top.

Her salary alone can't buy her Samsung fold and luxury wrist watch

Do these illiterates that always constitute a nuisance on our social media, think everyone entered the Police Force poor?

Not to talk that she is even a woman whose husband might be very wealthy if she was married.

Many of the NTA female broadcasters all married rich or were from wealthy homes, so they lived well above the civil service lifestyle of their male counterparts. Infact, the NTA women were regarded as socialites.

Did Nuhu Ribadu being the son of a politician and former federal Minister, the Nigeria Police Force as a pauper?

The greatest band of illiterates in Nigeria are the educated ones who spend all their time on social media, positing ignorance unbidden.

Addition:
Don't you think it is fundamentally stupid to be asking any female if her salary can afford her lifestyle?

How many females depend on their own income for their lifestyle, whether single or even married?

Are female students not using even more expensive phones than their lecturers who are salary earners?

Is it a secret that the most notable gift received by females is a mobile phone?

Is it also a secret that the Police Force is still attractive to many who are not from poverty stricken homes?

Read to understand.

The reason she was asked is thats what Policemen do to youths everyday.

They claim people are yahoo boys just because they are driving toyota and mercedes and using iphones.

Its their own psychology being used on them, and they are complaining.

Dont dish what you cant take

DSP's annual salary is N2.2m. Samsung fold 2 costs over N1m.

Did DSP take half of her salary to buy phone?

If a citizen earning same salary as her is stopped and this phone found on them, will the police give the person the benefit of the doubt?

It's only in Nigeria you see some public servants living far above their income and some hungry miscreants will defend them.

That's why our politicians can embezzle without conscious and still have people praise singing for them.

A police officer that's bleaching
Look at her knuckles

Her salary can't afford the Samsung Galaxy fold unless she's into another dubious work

The monthly salary of a DSP of Grade level 10 is N173,458

How did she afford to buy the phone and watch?

NB: I know how many times I have been parked at checkpoints by police officers
harrassed and asked where i work because I drive an SUV.

There's was a time a police officer told me in 2020 along Enugu - PH expressway that I am too clean not to be a yahoo boy.

I was searched for more than 30minutes, for driving an SUV that's clean and well washed.

My saving Grace is that I have learnt to be calm and patient at all checkpoints, without showing signs of someone in a hurry.
