On Sunday, September 3, 2023, the 16th Headies Award took place in Atlanta Georgia for the second consecutive year.

Since its inception in 2006, the Headies has played a prominent role in the documentation of the strides recorded in the Nigerian music industry through its award which has now become the biggest prize in Nigerian music.

On the night, Mavin star, Rema was the biggest winner, going home with three gongs. His Nigerian music renaissance speech was also the highlight of the event.

Other big winners were Asake with two gongs including the coveted Next Rated Award; Burna Boy picked up the Afrobeat Single of the Year and the Best R&B Song.

Again, Wande coal Kpe paso won the best male vocal performance 0ver Praiz - Reckless, Oxlade- Ku lo sa, Chike - Spell remix and Ric Hassani - My only baby? This only means one thing. The voters are absolutely stupid and they have flawed sense of music or the award in itself is strictly about favoritism.
