This gas revolution is already favouring me and my family. I run a business which requires that i power my gen from 8a.m to 6.30pm, with only 30 to 45 mins rest. I spend #5,000 on petrol daily which translates to #150,000 at the end of the month. Since i converted to gas, i spend #1,750 daily. Multiple that by 30 days and see the difference.

#150,000 on Petrol per month minus - #52,500 on gas per month = #97,500

It will not only favour me and my family but Nigeria at large. Even those who e dey pain as e dey sweet us too will benefit from this gas revolution.

I doubt that 1kg of LPG can last longer than 1 litre of fuel.

I have given you the energy values of both. Petrol is still cheaper than LPG. Unless petrol becomes 800 per litre. This is why LPG powered generator don't even fly in countries that have been buying petrol more expensive than Nigeria even before the subsidy was removed

Q. Do I have to turn off the gas when not in use.

A. No you do not. Gas flow stops immediately the gen stops working.

Q. What type of Gas regulator should I use

A The regular regulators used on home gas coolers will suffice .

Q. Can I switch to petrol when ever I want to?

A. Yes you can, turn off the gas supply and open the petrol supply and you are back with petrol

Q. Who will install the carburettor?

A. 5min installation, can be done by your Gen technician, there is a guide video in first post.

Q. Is it normal for my gas cylinder to become cold and sweaty .

A. Yes it is normal.

This product should be widely accepted and used but Nigerians are too fearful to anything relating to gas.
Nigerians would have totally avoided gas cooker if not for the fact that there isn't cheap alternative.

We are already used to gas cooker fire and hazards and we don't want to add another to it. WE ARE CARELESS PEOPLE.

How safe are these LPG/CNG/Petrol HYBRID Carburettors?

I did a test with the LPG carburetor on a 6.5KVA gen with water pump, ac and washing machine load.

I got 9 hours of power on 12.5 kg which I got for N7,500.

That's a cost of N833 per hour.

Same gen has a 25 litre PMS tank which runs for 12 hours (on limited load; one ac only). That's N13,500 (@ N540/litre) for 12 hours, or N1,125 per hour.

Savings per hour: N1,125 - N833 = N292 per hour.

Using the LPG carburetor and gas for 6 hours a day (assuming you want to run it from 6pm to 12 midnight if there is no power), you save N292 X 6 = N1,752 per day.

Over 30 days, that's savings of N52,560. Over a year, that's savings of N630,720.

Meanwhile, I imported my carburetor from China at a cost of 17,500. It was delivered to my house. Cylinder kept at a distance of 6 yards away.
The only thing I notice is that I have to put the gas on and leave it for 1 minute to enter the system, and then I have to pull three or four times before it kicks in. Also have to return the choke pretty fast or it will go off.

Have been using this system for a month now. No issues.

I will advice not to fill your gas at roadside vendors. Air in the cylinder instead of LPG will cause the gen to start fluctuating.

demand and supply. if everybody converts to LPG the demand is huge so they jack up the price. we are back to square one

Caused by excessive heat.
Check if the blades on the fan on the starter recoil is fine and sucks in air.
Make sure gen is in a well ventilated area.
Ask your technician to check valve clearance and adjust.
Finally always check your oil level before starting and change oil when due.
