It was a Sunday morning in the year 2017. I was frustrated and tired of job search. Although I was working with a federal government agency before until I was set up and I lost that job.
That Sunday morning I don't even have data on my phone. I was using my wife's phone to browse the internet. I came across this advert on Nairaland and I applied. I was called for interview and I ed. I am still in that job and it was a blessing

A guy called me at around 11pm on Sunday and asked if I can come to abeokuta the following day by 7am to start work in a construction firm,he just prayed and said I should just continue with my way of life that his own friend whom was my old colleagues recommended me

Well, I actually worked for the Company before back in 2019 through a Distant cousin of mine, but was laid off in 2020. But later called back in 2021 if I'd like my Old job back, I accepted and here we are!

The worst thing that could happen to someone is to loose his/ her job

Got my current job through LinkedIn. The former one was also through LinkedIn. You get to a point in your career that HRs start reaching out to you if you are good at what you do.

One of the major advices I share with youngsters who care to listen is be humble enough to start small if that's all you have for a start. The key thing is just ensure you have a plan and be intentional in fulfilling your plans. My first job was 27K, I accepted it anyway and did it for only 3 months before I got a good offer from a multinational company. Since then I've switched across 3 different multinationals.

If the only opportunity that is available is a small one, start anyway, learn as much you as you can, build your network, improve on your profile and then the rest will unfold like magic

Me as a student I have been looking for menial jobs within the town I reside to myself but unfortunately, i couldn't get any, I really hate this life I'm always sad and depressed as a student no help coming from anyone...!!! The only typical method i have adopted in relieving this stress and grief was to think about death. Who knows I might just end it all one day, nothing interest me again not even my education everything's just stupid

Submitted application to the hotel as a receptionist (was almost sure i would get the job) but they saw my cv, made me manager. The 2nd job (software engineer) is thru a guest that came to lodge, seeing the guy i knew immediately he is software engineer, checked him out on linkedin, i turned out to be correct, b4 he checked out, i approached him, pitched myself to him, he gave me his manager's , talked to him, gave me a task ( a shopping cart using react, typescript, tailwind), ed. He gave me a job as a react frontend engineer. Today is my payday, first time im earning from coding after almost 4 years of grinding. Alhamdulillahi...Never give up, Always tell pple what you do.

What happened was nothing short of an uncommon miracle.

Sometimes, I genuinely feel sorry for young people who insult elders without restraint. They have no idea how much grace and favor can flow through simple respect.

I was in the house fasting and praying with TB Joshua anointing water when a man I met thrice in a public transport called me to come and see him in his office.

The few times we met I was able to familiarize myself with him by behaving well. Those journey actually took almost the whole day because of the distance. Coincidentally we met about thrice on those journeys and we become familiar.

My advice for Young folks is learn digital skills and start free lancing, the sky is your limit.

I dropped out, learning Web deg and she is making at least a million per month on upwork. The money in her is at least 10 times my own.

Digital skills is the way.

#50k, #100k work per month, won't make you comfortable, it will just make you not beg to eat.

I reached out to a popular person in my industry and asked for a referral. All I did was to then reach out to those people that this so so person asked me to reach out to you.. You'd be shocked at how names open doors. The guy didn't know me from anywhere.

Build connections. Who you know matters than what you know in this country.

LinkedIn, after much suffering o I'd write a book about landing remote jobs someday. It's both an art and a science + Luck. The first remote job I got was through a referral. In this life it's good to be good. It comes back somehow. If you would be interested in the book, Like. Let me see if it will be worth my time, and if people really need such impact.

My current job, I was ed from a job board. I did a telephone interview and by what should be a second interview with my would be manager (now my manager), it was 'when are you resuming? Do you have any questions for me?' to God be all the glory.

I am resuming a new job mid June, by God's grace, with one of the top 10 banks in the world. I applied for a role with them but got ed on LinkedIn by them for another (higher) role.

I started working with them as adhoc staff on contract bases even as a graduate, paying me daily. Though not with main intention of becoming a staff but just to survive. An opportunity of applying in came and I was lucky to selected. Now I’m working as a full staff with good pay

Don't let this get-rich-quick you see all around you put you under undue pressure. You are still just a student. The whole world is ahead of you. There's more. But you must the process.

Follow companies and Mostly HRs on linkedin
You can find HRs by searching for companies and people who worked there.
Turn on job notifications on Business Development/Sales on companies pages
Add prayers and fasting because some jobs that will change your life will be posted few minutes and removed after like 2days or Devil no go just allow you the day they posted the job or You wont just see the post.

Dis are steps i followed..I dey get job invites weller but most the pays are not good.

I got my first post NYSC job which is my current job through intentional networking.
I finished NYSC last year October 2022 but had the offer letter from a multi-national by September 2022.

Here is my story:

I was intentional about saving my NYSC allowance from October 2021. My background is petroleum engineering. Usually, there is this annual oil and gas conference that holds in Eko hotel, Lagos every August. I had long decided that I would attend the conference and leverage on networking to better my options. My savings paid for the conference registration, hotel accommodation close to Eko hotel, feeding, transportation and miscellaneous expenses. This weeklong conference gulped about 400k from me.
I saved up 300k from NYSC (Nov. 2021 - July 2022) and made up the difference from home lessons pay.

At the conference, I presented 2 technical papers and also networked with captains of industries.
My take-home were two job offers; some MDs were impressed that I came as NYSC guy and gave me cash gifts. Infact, I recouped about 160k before coming back from Lagos. I chose one that allowed working from home. I currently work from my base in PH.

Morale Lesson:

If you wash your hands well, you will dine with kings

Before my NYSC, I was determined to work in a company. I was posted to a secondary school to teach but the school rejected me. I visited all the companies in the state and the last one I visited accepted me. Six months into the service, the company notified me of their intentions in employing me due to my outstanding inputs.
Employed immediately after the service year, sent to Siemens for trainings on Programmable Logic controller (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives, Industrial Automation etc. Later sent to Russia on industrial Electronics.
This area of career is mostly occupied by Expatriates in Nigeria, some are even Indians. There are job vacancies for this job because very few are into it mainly because it's hard to learn and the cost of training is very high.
With Dangote refinery coming on board, I advice Nigerian youths to venture into this field of Automation or else the Indians will continue to enjoy the space.
