Ede Poly commences computer -based examinations; first of it's kind in Nigeria ....as institution commissions 2KVA solar inverter, earlier The Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State has commenced the use of mobile devices for the conduct of istration of computer -based examinations. This was contained in a memo signed by the Director of ICT Directorate, Dr. Adekunle Adewale, and communicated to the management of the school and the entire Polytechnic community on Wednesday, the copy which was made available to newsmen by the Protocol, Media and Public Relations Officer of the institution, Sola Lawal. According to the memo, the Director of ICT Directorate commended the management of the Polytechnic, led by Engr. Dr. Sani Man Yahaya, the staff and students alike for this great feat. The memo read this:" We are delighted to inform the Polytechnic community about the successful conduct and istration of computer-based examinations(CBE) in the ongoing 2021/2022 second semester examination, using mobile and tablets by the students. "Today, the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, became the first ever institution in the history of tertiary institutions in Nigeria to conduct and ister computer-based examinations (CBE) on mobile devices. "National Diploma students from the under listed departments in the School of Environmental Studies participated in the implementation for GNS102(Communication in English1) A. Building Technology B.Fashion and Testile Design C. Quantity Surveying D. Surveying and Geo-informatics "We are grateful to the staff and students of the school of environmental studies for their efforts and towards making the Polytechnic pioneer of this innovation. "However, we humbly seize this opportunity to appeal to the other Deans of schools and Head of Departments(HOD) to encourage their students and staff to be part of this noble idea for the benefit of the Polytechnic at indoor sport Hall venue for the following courses as scheduled in the ongoing examination time table. A. GNS121/128- Citizenship Education 11 B.EED126- Introduction to Entrepreneurship C. EED216-Practice of Entrepreneurship". Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, 23rd January, 2023, the institution attained another feat in the area of academic creativity and innovation, as the School of Engineering Technology , under the leadership of the Dean, Engr. Dr. Dauda Adekunle Folarin commissioned a 2KVA Solar Inverter. The Solar Inverter was commissioned by the Rector of the school, Engr. Dr. Sani Man Yahaya, as he described the innovation as another great feat for the Polytechnic, in the quest for global reckoning in the area of innovation and technological advancement.
