In fulfillment of the plans to achieve her re-election bid, Senatorial Candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the Anambra Central elections, Senator Uche Ekwunife on Tuesday commenced the tour of 109 wards of the 59 communities within the district.


Taking off from her campaign headquarters situated at the 'Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre', Awka, with a boisterous campaign team made of top party stakeholders and ers Ekwunife was accorded a massive reception at all the wards she had arrived at.


Ekwunife who currently represents the Senatorial district at the 9th Senate is seeking a return to the Senate.


So far Ekwunife has visited ; Awka Etiti i,ii; Nnokwa; Alor i,ii; Akwukwu ; Oba i,ii; Ojoto; Nnobi i, ii,iii; Nkpor i,ii,iii, Umuoji; Uke; Ideani; Oraukwu; Abatete; Eziowelle; Abacha and Ogidi i, ii.


At each ward Ekwunife, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology gave of her three year legislative stewardship which consisted of projects and Empowerments which she has executed in each community including her legislative actions in of Bills and Motions.


Prior to her campaign flag off, the return quest of the lawmaker who is banking on her exploits at the Senate , had received the blessings of many communities presided by their Town Presidents and Traditional leaders.


Ekwunife's first port call was at the Palace of the Traditional ruler of Awka-Etiti, Igwe Micheal Ezeudenna followed by public engagement at the Iru-owelle Square in Awka-Etiti where the Federal Lawmaker met people from the two political wards and nine villages in Awka-Etiti.


President General of Awka-Etiti, Chief Izundu Ifeanyi appreciated Ekwunife for choosing the community as the starting point of her campaign and disclosed the willingness of Awka-Etiti electorates to back Ekwunife's re-election bid.


Mr. Chibuzo Anagu, an indigene of Awka-Etiti and a Lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) lauded Ekwunife for her for legislative intervention when she called the attention of the Federal Government to attend to the plight of the unpaid lecturers of the institution employed in year 2020.


Ekwunife revealed that the staff were unpaid since 2020 due to their uncaptured status by the Office of the ant General of the Federation for them to be included into the FG's Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). Anagu however informed that shortly after Ekwunife's motion the process of capturing affected staff has since commenced.


At Alor, Idemili South LGA , Ekwunife and her team were greeted to a carnival-like reception from elated residents. Former President General of Alor, Hon. Okey Elosiuba who presided over the Jubilant gathering alluded to the heroic reception to Ekwunife's impact in their community since her election in 2019, noting that unlike other unde performing Lawmakers Ekwunife had attracted dividends of democracy to their community.


Other notable personalities who received the PDP candidate at the different wards include; President General of Akwukwu in Idemili South LGA, Chief Uchenna Anayo; Regent of Oba, Idemili South, Chief Sir Nuel Ezenwa; Former Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Anyanaeto; Traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu; Traditional prime minister (Onowu) of Ojoto, Chief Patrick Onwuanyali; Ojoto women forum led by, Mrs. Abigail Nwafor; Traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu;


On Thursday Ekwunife's campaign received a further boost as she was ed by the Member representing Idemili North and South federal constituency, Rt. Hon Obinna Chidoka when they met with a cross section of hundreds of electorates at Nkpor, Idemili LGA. Its President General, Chief Innocent Mbagha received the lawmakers and their entourage.


On continuation of her campaign Ekwunife on Friday arrived at Umuoji where she campaigned amongst scores of enthusiastic residents led by Regent of Umuoji, Chief Chris Nnaedo when she paid a courtesy call to his palace.


At every ward the lawmaker pointed out her infrastructural and human empowerment accomplishments some of which were ; Supply of school Materials, Construction of Community Roads; Provision and Installation of Solar Street lights; Facilitation of Federal Government grants and Jobs;Free Medical outreach; Construction of the Model Science and Technology Laboratory Attracted to Awka-Etiti adjudged to be the biggest in the Southeast region; Construction of 3 bedroom apartments for vulnerable constituents; Construction and Rehabilitation of Water Boreholes; Ongoing construction of New Tarzan junction/Akuzo road Nkpor; Rehabilitation of a 3km road in Odume to mention a few.


In similar addresses, while making references to her achievements Ekwunife urged the electorates at each ward to her return to the Red chambers in order to consolidate on her Good works. She told the gatherings that none of her opponents or previous lawmakers could match her accomplishments.


Stakeholders who spoke on behalf of the constituents acknowledged Ekwunife's impact in their communities in of what they described as signature infrastructural projects and human capital development, assuring the PDP candidate of their resolve to reward her kind gestures to the communities with their votes.
