28 Governors Pile Up ₦5.8 Trillion Debts For Incoming Governments (12722 Views)
StudentsNG: 6:30am On Jan 06, 2023 |
Next bus stop is the Senate house to sleep, while the next governor of their impoverished states (who they'll be forcing on the populace) continue to dish out hundreds of millions of naira to them as "pension". I really pity us Nigerians if we miss Peter Obi this time around. Sorry will be everybody's name. Shame of a nation! |

And someone will sit down in one mud house in Oshogbo and tell you that Obaseki is not performing. I bet them, the slum called Lagos is not worth the debt it owes right now. Let them keep cheering a criminal as their god. Indeed, Edo no be Lagos, the largest slum in west Africa. Before you quote me, know that no one lives in a batcher or sleeps on floating canoe in Benin City or any other part of my State. Again, Edo no be Lagos. Kill ya sef 2 Likes |

I didn't hear anything from lagosian, tinubu build Lagos with the highest debt. Is it not a shame that with all the revenues and tax allocated still Lagos is owing a massive debt. It pains me alot to see my fellow youth forgotten what the government did to us Oct 20_20. The time has come to have freedom without protest, riot. Let us have one mind and pick someone who really had us in mind to transform the country for a better tomorrow where we all be happy, and our children even the coming generation.

Honestly it baffles me,I'd beginning to think that the government is not our problem.our problem is ourselves majorly the youth they no longer have sense. One simple maths here add 8years to your current age and see for yourself now ask yourself how long will you be living like this

Best way for governors to stop collecting debt the same way some people collect baseball cards....is to simply tax everyone in the state that is of taxable age. Nationwide, our tax to gdp ratio is 8.1% It is even worse than Niger Republic where it is 15% self. But taxation is an unpopular thing....so governors keep on relying on oil money, which is not enough, and when they cannot meet up, they take loans. Let's not forget the stealing too that makes things worse. Either way, raise the tax to gdp ratio, and things will get better. |

Skty: Don't mind them. Lagos is owing over 1tr debt cumulatively. Lagos has no domestic airport, no standard stadium, no too many good state owned hospitals with that number of population, etc. Thank God for Ambode. He never took any foreign loan, yet, his projects were massive and most were executed, but was kicked out cos he's not servicing some persons. Meaning BAT, Fashola and Sonwolu compounded those debt. With the massive debt, Lagos has the least roads in Nigeria It's takes an economic genius to run a state without borrowing, not to talk of savings. This is what Obi did. Obaseki is following the trend. 3 Likes |

Even at the state level the debt profile is reaching d highest heavens! The future is bleak .Vote for PO for d rescue of Nigerian economy from borrowing spree and imminent economic collapse. From Apc, we have learnt to teach our children "borrowing" even with no means of paying back as a means of survival. |

HydraFeeds: It's a bad thing b/c there is no means of paying back d debt. Besides, internally with good leadership, we can raise more than enough funds on our own and don't need to borrow. |
HydraFeeds(m): 7:58am On Jan 06, 2023 |
matm:if we can raise more than enough funds as a developing country what happened to developed countries like USA and China with the highest debt profiles in the world ? We need to also ask question what the borrowed funds is used for ,is it for infrastructural development like industrial complexes, businesses, roads etc or payment of salaries which has no direct impact on IGR or being embezzled by government officials. I know that Buhari tried when it comes to Federal roads . Also we need to consider that money is used to make money ,money is needed to generate more funds locally . |
