The former Director General of the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe, has said the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, will win the South-East votes in the 2023 presidential election.

According to the former presidential aide, the former Anambra governor will get 25 per cent of votes in no less than 24 states in the polls.

Okupe said this in reaction to election projections unfavourable to Obi, which he said ignored many important electoral parameters.

He tweeted, “THISDAY ELECTION CENTER PROJECTIONS. I wish to say categorically and with a very high sense of responsibility and objectivity, that the projections are false, bogus and do not represent the actual situation on the ground across the nation. They are essentially aimed at misinforming the public.

“Peter obi will win and lead massively in the SE averagely (70 per cent) including all states in the SS. In the SW, PO will score minimum of 40 per cent in Lagos. 25 per cent in Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo. Osun 15 per cent minimum. NW 40 per cent minimum in Kaduna and no less than 10 per cent of all the other six states mainly because of Igbo residents.

It's possible too in Kaduna. Southern Kaduna has about 51.2% population going by the last census. Why do you think all the parties forces to attack Obi everyday, Obi and LP they call structureless? APC and PDP have employed very smart, intelligent and experienced elections forecasters and strategists, and those people have told them the damage LP can do to their presidential ambitions. While NW and NE is going to be a strong fight with APC, PDP and to a lesser extent, NNPP, APC and PDP have zero chances of winning SE. On the other hand, LP is doing well in SS and making inroads in SW and NC. Considering there are 3 strong candidates + 1 contesting, you should understand why the various propaganda against Obi.

Obi will successfully retain above 80% of the votes PDP used to get in Southern Nigeria and still get votes from people who voted APC in 2015 and 2019 due to Osinbajo factor but have retrieved their votes from APC due to the failures. Majority of the first time voters who are majorly the youths will go for Obi.
