AWKA—THE Anambra State House of Assembly has ed a bill to give adequate pensions, allowances and other privileges on former democratically elected Governors and Deputy Governors of the state.

With the age of the law, the Anambra State Governors’ Law, 2005 and the subsequent amendment were repealed.

Cited as the State Governors Pensions Law, 2009, the bill was sponsored by Lilian Okosi, P. I. Obichukwu, Tim Egboka, Nnamdi Ezike and Bridget Chukwuka.

Essentially, the bill provides for life pension for a person who held office as Governor in accordance with the law, at a rate equivalent to his last salary in office subject to review from time to time by the incumbent Governor on the advice of the state ant General.

It also provides for an official car, two personal aides and provision of adequate security for his person during his lifetime at the expense of the state government.

Other provisions include allowances for cook, steward, driver and gardener to be determined from time to time by the incumbent Governor on the advice of the Head of Service and medical attention for his person, subject to the approval of the incumbent Governor.

Obi never said Anambra past governors do not receive pension. What Obi said is he rejects all the things the state government gives outgoing governors. Things like pension, house and land. Obi is the only ex governor that has rejected those things in Nigeria.

What exactly is your point? Does Anambra State government pay Obi pension? Did Obi get a house and a portion of land from the State government as his benefit for governing the State?

Your logic is so childish and weak. Many States adopted the bill before and after 2009. This means it is a normal practice in every State in Nigeria. Obi signed it because it is the normal thing in Nigeria. He then rejected the entitlement to show he is personally against the bill. Obi signed the bill because the stake holders and the State house of assembly wanted it. Only a tyrant will refuse to sign the bill.

A governor is not the one who proposes a bill in a State. A governor only signs a bill when majority in the State house of assembly approves the bill. A selfish governor can bribe some house of assembly to propose a bill that will in turn serve the governor's personal interest. But in this case, Obi rejected those things. Had it been he accepted those entitlements, it will be believed he lured the house into ing the bill.

There's a pension bill for former Governors in Anambra state but there's no proof from the state government that he has received a kobo from it.
The fact that he refused to accept does not imply that other occupants of the sit should not get their entitlement ed into law by the state assembly

Peter Obi was Openly against the bill. He was never in of Obiano's candidacy aswell, which is why he left the party.

His party won elections including house of assembly and brought a bill to sign, which he did.
Try watching him speak about these things. Whatever you bring up, Peter Obi has already explained it before.
