Good evening, sir.
Thanks for your contribution to this thread.

Please, this is my first time of applying for a port. I'd appreciate your help in putting me through.
I got stuck at information. My family reside in Rivers state, while my current address is Osun state. Can I use Rivers state as my Permanent address and Osun as Current address? My state of origin is also different from the two states mentioned.
Yes, enter your Rivers State address as your permanent one and Osun State address as your current.
It does not matter if a Nigerian port applicant's state of origin is different from his or her state(s) of residence.
Please proceed with your port application. Have a good night's sleep.

Big thanks, sir!
I've gone past that stage.

However, the NPC portal for birth certificate is not working from my end. Any heads-up about that, please?

You reside in Osogbo. Go to the NPC office to get your attestation of birth.

I think NPC office address in Osun State is: Adjacent Federal Road Safety Office Zone XI, Abere, Osogbo.

You are a good man! Thank you, sir!
Another thing, sir, this is what I got from them.
I was told it's what the embassy needs!

You're issued the right document. The NPC attestation of birth is available only to individuals aged 17 and above. Those under 17 can only apply for a standard birth certificate.

Good morning all. I am planning on getting my port for myself and my wife. When I input my nin in the port portal, it shows my status as single because I was single when I did my nin. I tried changing it in the nin portal but there is no option to do that.

I just want to confirm if there will be an option to change it to married in the course of applying for the port on the portal or if I have to go and change my marital status to married first in my nin first

Good evening all. Pls, someone should answer me

After payment what should I do next, please?

I was supposed to ask this particular question earlier before submitting, but it skipped my mind.
I'm currently running a conversion program and at the same time, I work as a Site Engineer. My NIN already has my occupation generated as 'student' on the port portal.

I hope there won't be issues? I'm just thinking maybe, I should have added 'Site Engineer/student' instead of 'student' alone.

After successfully paying the port application fee, the next step is to print the acknowledgment slip and receipt, and schedule an appointment for biometric data capture.

Your data will be verified from the National Identity Database at the NIMC. So, your names, date of birth and gender must match exactly with the information provided on your Nigerian port application. Any discrepancies can cause delays or even rejection of your port application.

I hope your names, date of birth and gender match exactly with the information provided on your Nigerian port application.

Good morning, please, I will appreciate if you can also answer my question. My nin record has single in it but I got married recently and I did not see any option to change my marital status on the nimc website.

Can I go ahead to apply for my port even though my nin record says that I am single? Will there be an option to pick my marital status while inputting my data for the port application? Thanks for your anticipated response

My data on my NIN matches with the information on my port.

Although there's little I can do, my only concern now is about the occupational part where my NIN generated Student, so I was thinking I would have included my current profession to it.

I've just printed my Standard port Application, Payment receipt, and Appointment slip and I've also booked an appointment. I hope I'm on the right track?
Also this is what my status is showing. Please, how long does it take to change?

If you're lucky you should receive an approval email within days. Should you not receive one a day or two to your enrollment day, you can go to the SERVICOM office for assistance. SERVICOM is a government office that handles complaints about poor service, unreasonable delays, mistakes, etc.

Does anyone who renewed port recently take their NIN slip (or copy) there? Especially if the previous port had the NIN written on it?
I'm not seeing it as requirements any longer but some friends are saying it's required.

NIN is the number , you need that to do your application

You do not need to bring the NIN slip or card with you to port office.

Just complete the application online as others are doing.

They won't call you.
Go to the website and use the status tracker.
It will tell you if it's ready or not.

However if it has been up to 5 weeks since you did biometrics and it does not say port ready on the tracker then just go to the port office and say you are for port collection

Hello, sir, good afternoon!

Please, I chose next Monday for my biometrics, and I just realized it's public holiday.
Should I reschedule my appointment?
Also, this ready for enrollment and NIN verification are yet to change.

Go on Tuesday 10th of June 2025.
Shortly after you capture or enrol you will begin to notice changes.

The last time I checked a Nigerian port applicant renewing his or her port did not require NIN. On the day of capture or enrollment go with your NIN slip (original and copy) just to be on a safe side.

They will help to backdate your scheduled appointment,it may take some few hours/minutes before you're allowed for capturing or better resheduled the appointment if the option is available at your centre ,That way u know you aren't going to be questioned by any immigration officer why you made a mistake of picking a public holiday

Backdate?
FG already declared 6th and 9th as public holidays. And from the screenshot attached below, the two days are not striked.

I'll be there on Tuesday, as advised by Ekitimanalways.

speaking from personal experience,I picked Monday 2nd June as appointment day,was unable to go, was there on Tuesday 3rd June .After my documents where vetted ,was asked to proceed for capturing .
At the capturing room they discovered my appointment day was supposed to be Monday 2nd,they collected my vetted documents ,asked me to wait outside until my date of appointment changed to a new one ( it took less than an hour ) i was called in to do capturing.
Ekitimanalways is right aswell, you will be attended to and capturing will be done , but that date you picked will be changed at their office for capturing to take place .
