Make we nor lie, Lagos compared to the rest of Naija is like a different country in of progress and exposure

Lagos is the only state in Naija, I recommend to foreigners who wish to visit Naija and ask my opinion.

The gap is very far....

The people that come in and leave Lagos every blessed day cannot be compared to any other state; even the ones experiencing insurgency

There's nothing that proves that Tinubu is a lesser evil than Atiku sha. They're both desperate for power, and both very corrupt.

In of istration and outlook to governance, I'd say they're pretty much same, and maybe Atiku edges him a bit on transparency the guy seems to have some modicum of dignity or pride, while BAT is completely shameless and brazen.

Of Lagos governors since 1999, you can even argue that BAT has been the worst of the lot.

True.

I’d also have recommended Warri in 1975 but I‘d be insane to do that now.

In Naija, stagnation is progress because retrogression is the norm. Lagos smells, has agberoes and extreme taxation and is still the best state in Naija all things being compared

I done already agree say my State no get good Governance like Lagos or wherever I'm at now. I'm not an ungrateful immigrant that curse the land where I seek opportunity

And that land you migrated to will always prosper you as long as you have this mentality

I am not from Lagos, my parents are not from Lagos but Lagos rescued me and I will forever be grateful to it and never say anything to tear it down

Rather I will just move back to Oyo and face my own governors who made me a migrant in Lagos

Take away Lagos, many places in Nigeria looks like the rest of Africa. If you fly most Africans into Lagos they won't believe this is still the same Africa

I was speaking to a man from SS yesterday he wants to buy a house in Nigeria and na only Lagos dey him mind, not warri not Benin, not Akure not Osogbo not even PH

Yobe sits at the bottom of any economical metric you want to check.

Maybe the villages that share borders with Yobe, and that's it. Maiduguri is still safe and people are there.

Nothing dey Yobe, Chief. Even to a Northerner, nothing dey there.

Not at this rate

I know many people in our parents generation who finished University abroad and relocated straight to village. I will say almost 70% of Nigerian returnees in the 60s 70s went straight back to their home state

Nowadays almost 90% of returnees stay in Lagos

I know several people who have actually relocated families from village to Lagos due to insecurity

2 of my friends from the SE after they experienced kidnapping in the east relocated their aged parents to Lagos

In the 70s and 80s many Naija Uni graduates simply went to their home state and got jobs made a living

Nowadays if you have a friend you believe is smart, graduated and says he is going to Osun, Abia Kogi after graduation, you will simply look at him like he has no ambition in life. If you are not fleeing the country at least go Lagos.

Of your uni mates, anyone not abroad most likely is in Lagos

Lagos might have agbero, taxation but many people still get hope of making it big there. Other states na Kidnapping, gunmen, Okada riders, rundown short time hotels and dilapidated buildings full there

In of economic opportunities, Lagos remains number 1, and by far...can't say if that trend has changed so much from what it was several decades back really. And while people won't recommend Warri today, other cities have become viable since Warri...Asaba, Rivers, Ibadan, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom and to some extent Kaduna despite its insecurity challenges.

Can't speak on what precise migration trends are, but assuming everyone is trooping to Lagos like you're saying, insecurity across the country would be factoring in more than for simply economic and infrastructural deficit reasons. So while economic reasons would always be Number 1, but very strong motivation these days is insecurity.

Yea, the security situation didn't appear magically, and for a state of Lagos' population it's actually quite safe...Fashola and Sanwo-Olu made major strides in addressing the state's security challenges.

Search for Opportunities has always pushed people towards Lagos. It didn't start 1999 and it won't end 2031.

For example, Ambode's father traveled on a canoe from Ilaje Ese Odo in present day Ondo State to Epe where he worked as a teacher in the old western region (60's).

Na that same pursuit of opportunities dey make person wey finish NYSC in Kogi State in 2023 to find his way to Lagos and get job in 2024.

The trend is not the brain child of a single person and it will not stop anytime soon. It is what it is.

Of course, over the years the government of Lagos state should be credited for ensuring there is security of lives and properties despite the continuous of influx of human population into the state seeking opportunities

The economic situations have changed significantly from what it used to be. Many of the states had a viable economy where many didnt see the need to travel to Lagos, there were many Private owned companies in the interior states where people worked and didnt have to bother with going to Lagos

It wasn't uncommon to enter one small town inside Nigeria and see people trained abroad working, small towns in Nigeria they had Rotary clubs where its mostly graduates some trained abroad who will sit there in the evening and network

Nowadays almost everyone who has something to do in life, and not involved in politics would have moved away .

Places like Jos, Kaduna, Delta even had a significant non Nigerian population, Now everything na Lagos. That bros wey I dey learn Bini language for na him dey tell me recently, he was in Naija he dey lament how nothing dey Edo again and he wan buy house for guess where? Lagos. The story is the same whether you are from Ondo, Enugu Delta

Under Tinubu was where the foundation for the good things in Lagos were laid, All those BRT, Lagos rail, Lekki Free Trade Zone, taming the Atlantic. All those were Tinubus ideas that his successors continued with

Chimaraoke said it, Tinubu was the starboy of his 1999 Governor generation, he had ideas for days while dem Chiboy Odili Mbadinuju Ibori Igbinedion, Fayose dem na how to empower thugs to dey kill opponents dey their mind

Actually someone said Tinubu has been the most impactful governor since this democracy started in 1999, We have had at least 4 different governors in all 36 states . That is at least 144 different governors

How convenient, Tinubu is always the man to lay foundation, and never the man to build...every man should be judged on his merit and not on others'. Many would argue that whatever Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu did was in-spite of Tinubu (an overbearing godfather that could boot them out at will), and not necessarily because.

Leave what politicians are saying for selfish interest and follow situation of things while they goverened. Anybody that listened to Akpabio yesterday would think Nigeria has become Singapore since Tinubu took over.

Most of what you're saying is conjecture, and I'm inclined to agree with it even, but data doesn't show that Lagos' population is growing more than the rest of the country is on average...maybe if one drills into the data you'd be proven right, but the little one we can use (population growth rate) doesn't prove you right.

PH is even good shebi better jobs and a decent exposure, I had uncles and family friends who graduated uni some from abroad in the 70s and all went straight to Ogbomosho, Ilesha, Akure Ekiti. In the 80s you will see some expatriates(Indians mainly) working in interior Federal Unis, Federal govt colleges, local industries, plastic industries, cement industries and their wives teaching in Secondary schools. Ghanaian a lot of them even claimed Nigeria and worked as teachers some even started naturalizing to Nigeria

If you see anyone relocating to Nigeria now, Not going to Politics and thinking of anywhere beside Lagos and environs you start wondering if they are okay

Ajaokuta in the 80s and 90s used to be like a foreign land filled with expatriates and Elite Nigerians (similar to Bonny Island now) not sure of the state of Ajaokuta currently

You will reach Okigwe, Ilaro, Offa Afikpo and meet one random man who graduated from Uni in UK and relocated to village to enjoy his life. If you mention Lagos to him, he will think you are trying to kill him with stress

People viewed Lagos then as a terrible place filled with zombies, criminals with unnecessary stress. Like as you dey enter Lagos within 5mins dem don snatch your bag, you have to catch a Molue moving at high speed, everywhere vehicle horns

Today the stress has quadrupled but the state of those hinterland has worsened exponentially that you will look insane not to the Lagos madness at least relative safety and signs of sanity, civilization and economy still dey

Building a state cannot be done completely by one within 8yrs. Yet we can all know who worked and who didnt. Akpabio was not the first governor of Akwa Ibom and after him we have had 2 others, yet his legacy stands out. even Duke in Cross river no other Cross river governor is hailed like him.

The groundwork Tinubu laid is what you are benfitting form today, we saw what Tinubu did with FTZ, you will probably ask why wasnt it completed in Tinubus time and say its Sanwooolu under who they launched it that should take the glory

The excellent revenue generation idea of Tinubu is the money Fashola and co used to build what they did. Its the security infrastructure of Tinubu that led to the security you enjoy today

Its Tinubus vision to tame the Atlantic that makes you not to be swimming to work daily. I how Ahmadu bello way and most of VI used to be those days filled with water

All these Tinubu did while fighting the FG for allocation seized

Well the reason I asked was because the way you described Lagos in the 80s and 90s was exactly how I used to hear Lagos described while Tinubu was governor, so I thought you were making reference to the late 90s to early 2000s dem.
