Hypocrite. The racist Arabs and fools like you in Africa regularly demonize and profile pagans in this part of the world. The bulk of verses in your Qur'an profile pagans in dehumanizing and unfair ways. Yet you dey complain. When the Arabs and your fellow Muslims do the profiling, they're saying the truth as the "best of mankind", but when others do it, they're being unfair and dishonest. 1 Like |

The students are on their own. The rebels have control of the airport. And this is all going down in a capital city - what is usually the last place to fall in situations like this Evacuation will be a military operation. The level of coordination required for a successful evacuation naija special forces Find an airstrip or landing zone. Land one of those galaxy/starlifter/hercules cargo planes there and hope it is not detected Deploy vehicles to evacuate the students (who are not in a single location) . Get all students safely to landing zone. All the while trying to do this under the nose of the hostile rebel militia. And all bets are off now because this is now oppressor on oppressor violence. 1 Like |

US, Jordanian and French militaries have evacuated their citizens and diplomats. But over here, our soldiers are only useful when it comes to extorting poor heavy-duty truck drivers. ![]() |

akwesenana: i doubt they have the volume of citizenry nigeria has on ground. 5000 people. and i am fairly certain they are concentrated in one or two locations and of course, being oyibos, their intelligence agencies have been aware of this and making plans. airbus capacity is 800 hercules c130 capacity is under 100 this is not a get in and get out op. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_universities_in_Sudan numbers are disted - but lets just say there are over 50 univeristies in sudan, with several in khartoum. your average embassy or private company already has some sort of internal security who will be coordinating with your military the only hope for those students is to try to get to ethiopia or eriteria. those are the closest bordering countries. or hunker down and hope for the best or - seeing as they seem to be the northern 0.1% , their parents should throw money together and hire some mercenaries to evacuate them.

chrisooblog: finally our much ballyhooed relationship with chad may pay off. Chad is the only friendly nigerian neighbour that shares a border with sudan. but the distance is very very far by road. it is still a mess sha. a convoy of vehicles with 5500 people in them will be sitting ducks for any ambush. edit - my bad - i was thinking of Niger and the billion naira suv purchase we do have a relationship with chad, but i am not sure it has been greased recenetly |

Sudan is an alternative for most Northern middle class who want to send their kids to get a comparable better education (read medicine). The Islamic culture there also gives them some sort of peace of mind that their ward won't be influenced negatively to turn away from muslim tenets if it were say UK or US they were sent to instead. chrisooblog: yep yep yep khartoum for instance is where sansusi did his islamic studies degree with a jaundiced eye, it may also for why they have been studying there in spite of all the civil war issues. the victims/collateral damage have traditionally been unbelievers. |
BlueRayDick: 10:29am On Apr 24, 2023 |
chrisooblog: Hmmmm.... It's not like I don't know these things, I'm just saying personally I won’t choose a country with history of political instability for my ward irrespective of whatever culture/tenets I seek for them to imbibe . Countries like that are just one military coup away from serious violence and u start purging as a parent each time u hear the news of fighting between different military forces in the country . I guess everyone has their own perspectives of seeing things |

Amoto94:I dont think anyone here is saying do not rescue those kids or blaming the kids for studying in Sudan due to Arabic heritage, I think what most are saying is in hindsight - knowing how uncertain the situation has been in the country they would not advise kith & kin to go study in study. Having said that - Sudan had always had security issues - I the influx of sudanese refugees in the early 80's; so I can understand whilst people still go there. All in All, Nigeria needs to her people out.. We should all be ing in one voice to request the govt do something speedily, humanity above Tribe. |

In theory I think it should because most of the dollars we use in our fx reserves for imports are directed mostly at petroleum products. Self sufficient local refining however will be the ultimate solution at helping reduce the exchange rate in the short term. @Ibime and other economists in the house what's your take on floating the naira? Is it a policy that any serious forward thinking government should be adopting? Itsrm: |

I think we not too long ago sold some Innoson Proforce MRAPs to Chad so that should count in the FGs favour. Yeah you're right the distance to the Chadian border is too long and potentially harrowing. Ethiopia still looks the best bet. GloriousGbola: |
A001: 10:43am On Apr 24, 2023 |
Olowunl01:Very few Southern parents did that then and even much fewer do so now. And they're mainly Muslim parents. So? |
BlueRayDick: 10:50am On Apr 24, 2023 |
Olowunl01: Like u don’t understand me. Growing up I’ve always watched the news and each time international news comes up they talk about “Crisis in the Dafur region “ , “ Rebel forces in southern Sudan “ , etc and they show people who are refugees in their own countries . Even now as an adult they still talk about crisis in Sudan every now and then. From a young age I’ve known the country is a politically unstable country . I find it puzzling that as a parent I will now gather money and send my child to the country to study when it’s not like the place has suddenly become stable like Present day Rwanda . Like send my child to another country that is politically unstable for so long 🤷🏼♂️. Northern Nigeria is still Nigeria . Nigeria is still our country and we have nowhere else to go . But a foreign country that I have other options? If I want my child to have Arabic Education Egypt is there na. There are other countries with more stable political climate |

BlueRayDick:Even for Naija here, most southerners (whether Christians or Muslims) don't like schooling or working in the North because of issues like instability and religious extremism. The few that worked or sent their kids to school in the North were mainly Muslims, and don't be surprised that a sizeable percentage of those parents understand Hausa language. These factors (religion and language) count a lot in times of crisis. Most of those Nigerians in Sudan are Muslims and from the North, and it's mainly those Muslims from the North that would be willing to school in a volatile country like Sudan. When a crisis breaks out, a northern Muslim has a higher chances of survival than a Christian from any other region. I don't think an unbeliever (not from the US, the UK, , or other First-World countries) schooling in Sudan values their life. |

chrisooblog: This is the part that sometimes confuses me. Why will Dangote for instance want to sell a commodity like refined fuel that is in high demand at a cheap price in Nigeria when he can export it and sell higher? It does seem to me like our days of importing fuel are still far from over even with Dangote coming on board. |
