Congratulations to them, na this kind advert dey deceive people and they are still where they are. Even you yourself know the truth. Like I said before folks can believe whatever they want. Cloud technology some years back was still relatively new and folks could get their way in easily but nowadays with everyone brandishing certificates everywhere how many are truly getting their way in now. Am also in a tech community of cloud folks and suddenly folks started advising themselves to stop using past questions to prepare for cert exam but rather get hands on to even sit for exams. Folks are beginning to know that just getting the certificate is not enough. You guys can keep advertising and let people decide whatever way they want. The results will always there as a justification later. Let's look at the data and prove so if many folks are really getting jobs just with certs

LOL

I have given you two examples now, but still, you sha wan talk your way

You are just reading to argue and not to understand

How will you the exams if you dont do some hands on and understand the environment at least?

Pre Covid, MS had labs in all their exams I took. How will you if you don't do some hands on given that the hands on are random?

I am not saying experience is not vital, I am saying certs get you a foot in the door, it is now up to you to do well in the interview or goof. Certs serve to show that you are doing something in that field, or you have some knowledge, not that you know it all

Even if you goof, you can go back to the drawing board, learn from your mistakes and improve on it

Guru in the house quick one please. Is six months old baby going to pay for flight?
yes and you would lap the baby but they’ll have their 1 bag of 23kg entitlement. Ticket price would be 10% -15% of adult fare.

Let me share one example of not having field experience but still got the job out of being determined and also for being resourceful.

At the very start of my career, my background was exclusively Microsoft LAN & WAN, so this day, I was headhunted for this position, The interview went well, then towards the end when it was my turn to ask the interviewing questions, I curiously asked about the server specs, only to be told that their Network server is hosted on a Netware Server. I gulped and thinking to myself, wow, I know Novell, but I havent got my hands dirty yet on Novell before, but guess what, courtesy of my network circle, I already had a CBT on Netware CNA and CNE given me, so when I got home, quickly jumped on it, and went through as much I could manage.

Watch this, on the first day of starting work, guess what happened. The first task, I was asked to do, was to go set up a new starter staff on the network, meaning create a network , with name and details, then give appropriate rights to the network drive, network shares, printers et cetera.

Now here's the thing, I've never work on a Novell server before, never done any istration like all that I was asked to do before. If not for what I studied and carried out on the CBT, I wouldnt have been able to pull it off, but we are survivors, we move and conquer, its the stuff like this, that the fighting and overcoming Naiyja spirit that doesnt relent will make you do.

I now they caught eye of the MSCE pin badge I calculatingly and cooly pinned on my jacket's lapel, because one of them said oh so you're MCSE certified. I smiled coyly and answered back in the affirmative, nodding and saying yes, yes

I think time and chance is everything. Both sides of the argument have elements of truth.
If you get a job solely on certifications and no work experience it's probably because they wanted to train you and you certifications are proof that you can be taught. Meaning you were very lucky.

Last year I paid for a cloud certification course that I thought will lead to a job upon completion but it didn't. Only two of us from that training course are currently working as cloud engineers.
I was fortunate to get a firm that offered paid training and job placements after training. I was offered a placement two weeks into my training after a successful interview. I now work as a cloud engineer for one of the big four banks.

I think it depends largely on the sector. Certifications without experience might not get you a job in the UK cloud sector.

On the other hand I got my placement quickly because of my certifications. About half of those in my training cohort already had cloud certifications but no experience and therefore no jobs. All of us without exception have now been placed.

The quickest way into IT here in the UK without prior university education in IT is to get trained by an IT recruitment firm. You get paid during and after training for at least two years.

If you can get certified without paying heavily please do. It will look good on your CV but after that it's just time and chance, no guarantees at all.

Yup, it's normal. TV License is not transferable so you can get yours by paying about £165 per Annum and it can be broken down to monthly. I usually advise people to just pay it instead of arguing that they don't have a TV because even if you watch Live programmes on any device (phone, tablet, etc) within the Apartment, you are still eligible so instead of keep proving periodically that yoh don't watch BBC or any other programme in the list, just close eye and pay for the license.

@Solumtoya thank you for the response

Good day, house

Please, does taking the Covid19 jab in Nigeria have any particular advantage for someone travelling or will the individual still have to take it again on arrival in UK?

Thanks

Lol. Make them hurry with my application. My employer added a clause to my offer (the contract ends on my T4 expiration date ) and I'll need to sense them a work permit to have a permanent position.

I wanted to defer my dissertation, I can't do that for now, as I'm still on a student visa grin

Gotten it ye?

Not yet and it was week eight on Tuesday. I'm thinking the decision will be emailed by next week considering we had three bank holidays between April and May.

My people.
I don come again.

Bikonu, please note that having a credit card and playing around with credit, or more properly, debt, is not a “must” in this wonderful world of obodo oyibo. There are people who have not used debt all their lives whose only credit product na mortgage, and they still dey here, dem never die. The myth that debt and debt cards are absolutely necessary to build up a so-called credit score without which you might as well be dead in this country is just that – a myth. Debt isn't always easy to manage - we dey see as e dey happen, some recent incomers are showing up now with issues.

Make una softly-softly with the debt o. Use it prudently and as necessary.

No-one should come for me biko, I dey try fill my APC form before the deadline.
