‘There’s Nothing Like Unknown Gunmen’, Ebonyi Gov Blames South Easterners For Killings In Region

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has blamed some persons in the South East for the widespread violence in the region.

The governor said this while reacting to the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The outlawed group had declared a weekly shutdown of the South East in protest of the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader.

But Umahi warned residents against observing the order, threatening to sack any worker who obeys IPOB’s directive.

Umahi said any shop that fails to open on Mondays will lose its right of occupancy.

“I have therefore directed that any civil servant who is absent from work is automatically sacked and those absent in any of our construction sites would also be sacked.”

“Any shop or stall in Ebonyi that does not open for business will lose its right of occupancy and I want this directive to be widely publicised,” he said.

He also asked people in the region to speak against the rising cases of violence.

“No one can wage war in the south-east and our people especially the youths should rise and condemn such acts.”

“There is nothing like unknown gunmen as those killing and the ones being killed are citizens of the zone,” he said.

Umahi said security personnel who have dedicated their lives to protect the people do not deserve to be killed.

“I have directed the security agencies and the Ebubeagu security outfit to be on daily patrol across Ebonyi and flush out all unruly behaviour from the state,” he said.

“The police personnel killed inside the vehicle which plunged into a mining pit is another supreme sacrifice from security agencies.” (NAN)

IPOB terrorists have shown that they are more dangerous than Talibans of Afghanistan.

They have been going about beheading critics in the South East in order to silence opposing views.

These are mostly frustrated, jobless and drug sniffing elements in the South East, who get moral online, from equally frustrated and displaced politicians and their ers from the South East.

The good thing is that, everyone including the international community have seen the reason IPOB was catigorized as a terrorist organisation. It is just a matter of time, they would be crushed permanently and South East will have peace again.

My prayer is that, whoever that s the killing of Innocent Igbo men and women, will also have his/her own family go the same way.

Umahi just said the truth. And I believe most igbos know this in their hearts but are either afraid to it and say it openly, or choose to bury their heads in the sand. If the 'UGM' were truly non-igbos as many ipob sympathizers like to claim, ipob itself would have made it a duty to go after them, apprehend and parade them, if only for the PR and propaganda value.

But what do we see instead? They rejoice at their attacks on the one hand, while on the other hand they try to blame these attacks on non-igbos/outsiders, especially herdsmen and the DSS, without any evidence whatsoever. When they behead or chop off the pennis of fellow igbo and show it off, their defenders would blame outsiders. Anyway, at the end of the day, they are just deceiving themselves.

This is why I see very little long term hope for the Igbos despite all the egotistic noise of 'greatness' they make.

They are a people so hatefully clannish they remain unable to confront evil and wrongdoing internally and from their own.
