The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the manpower needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.

KEY STUFF

. Only candidates in Federal Universities in Nigeria are considered

. Undergraduates must have CGPA equivalent to 2.1 in their first year. Undergraduate applicants must be in their second year of study and must be itted in the 2018/2019 session.

. Candidates with minimum of 2.2 in a related discipline can apply for MSc

. Candidates with minimum of 2.2 in their BSc and Merit i.e PhD grade in their MSc can apply for PhD.

. Deadline of application is August 13th, 2021

LSS doesn't do interviews or write exams.

They screen and paste names. You just apply and wait.

PTDF is 400k yearly, plus your school fee. In the final year, an additional 100k.

So basically, it's 400k + school fee yearly. + 200k(laptop for the first payment only).

So you're getting 600k plus school fee for the first payment

It's for courses related to oil and gas. Yes, mathematics is eligible, but engineering would be given preference.

Check the application year they pointed out.

I applied when I was about to enter 200l. So they used my 100l result for verification, and I was paid from 200l to 500l. Which makes it 48 months.

In your case, you most likely would be paid for 24 or 36 months, since your course is a 4-year course.

I the Scholarship advert was made public on July 5, 2021 and I did apply for my kid bro (Undergraduate Engineering Student) on July 7 using his 100L Transcripts. The dude was in 200L at the time. He is now in 300L and also has collected results for 200L still maintaining 1.1.

Now, the question is that he received a mail from PDTF directing him to update his Application if there is need so that he can be batch for interview.

When I read every item of the mail, I discovered the mail is meant for ISS Master's and PhD Applicants, I wonder why he was also sent such a mail being an undergraduate Applicant.

Pls what is your take on this?

Thanks for your response. Do you suggest he the current CGPA which encomes both 100L and 200L results?

Also, the mail talks about batching for interview, does that mean undergraduates too would be interviewed?

I used my most recent cgpa. I don't know about him but ing both would've exceeded the size limit.
No interview for undergraduates. There's no option to even pick a center or anything. Just for him to update and resubmit

PTDF sends such mail to all applicants, undergraduates included. UG are not subject to any interviews. They check your documents and shortlist the best 20 students in each state of the federation.

Also, it's not good for the development of your kid bro, for you to apply for him. I prefer you guide him. If he doesn't learn to source for opportunities now, he might graduate and still be looking for help from "uncles and seniors". That's the case for most first-class students. Though bright, some lack the exposure to sort opportunities.

And concerning PTDF, just update the details and wait. They might not shortlist till year-end.
