The identity of those who carried out the dastardly act at Agip is yet to be ascertained. But did you read that Yahoo News very well? Did you read something like this in that story?

''An e-mail to The Associated Press that claimed to be from the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said Nigeria had not met the demand to release two of the region's leaders from jail.

"Be assured therefore that the hostages in return, will remain our guests," said the statement, whose authors' identity could not be verified. The kidnappers' demands and news about the oil workers, who are from the United States, Bulgaria, Britain and Honduras, have been sent from the same e-mail address.

The hostages "are in good health and have adapted fairly well to the conditions under which the people of the Niger Delta have been kept," the statement said.''

I bet you did not read it at all.  And Odeku, would you mind coming from Chicago to the Niger Delta? Y'know, just to have a feel of how pleasant it is to live in here. It's worth it. Just throw a few dollars around and you're here, pronto! Damn!

you guys are behind time, for over 6 months armed bandits have been attacking banks and oil companies which are located by the numerous waterways in port harcourt. the truth is that but for the oil installations, most nigerians don't know 'jack' about the water ways so the idea is simple - attack from the water and leave through it.

The number of companies attacked include WILBROS (near uniport) twice, 3 banks located at Onne once, Julius Berger Main Base on Eastern By twice and now Agip. The only reason why the media is reporting it now is because they want to link those armed bandits with the same people who kidnapped those expatriates.

It may interest you to know that because of the disenchantment in the land; there are now a proliferation of armed bands who use their rugged terrain to carry out a lot of nefarious activities.

Only a massive development and provision of basic infrastructure and employment will reduce the intensity of this activities. My heart goes out to the innocent ill equiped corporals and sergeants who stand no chance in the face of superior fire power and tactics.

When you have so many guns in the country because of an election, and so many untrained people...

Am still asking the question:  why the unrest~state of agitation or turbulent in the niger delta.....
The country's #1 source of income is produced from the niger delta areas and the last thing I want to think of is killing killing killing.  Can we learn from United Arab Emirates?  They produce tons of barrels of oil too.....  and places like abu dhabi and dubai are doing well in biz etc, yeah they've had their shares of unrest.

The niger delta, especially port harcourt should be equivalent to abu dhabi and dubai.

I am ashamed of the governor, the president and the country as a whole!  I strongly believe the same governor and president are behind the unrest of port harcourt.  Yet they preach stability.

Regards,
I.B.
