WhyNa:
Got there by 10am and immediately I stepped out of the elevator of the 8th floor, the crowd of youth I saw there threw me off. To make matters worse, upon enquiry, I learnt I had to come with my original waec result and I didnt travel with it.
Made calls immediately and it was sent through night bus. By 1pm, I received the original waec result and rushed back to MOE only for them to tell me I needed my original BSc result not statement of result.
At this point, I was angry and frustrated. It would take weeks to get the original certificate knowing the school I attended. It might also mean I had to leave Abuja and come back. I had only one week to be away from work so I started making calls.
Luckily, I got someone who could help process the certificate in 2 days for an extra fee. I paid immediately and in 2 days, I had my certificate sent to Abuja.
Hello
What will happen to school to doesn't issue certificate immediately after graduation??
Heard some school is 5 years after graduation.

There is no space for Africans in Ton Duc University for graduate program.
They are only allowed for undergrad program.
But that is funny as we are good in equal measure to some countries in the list.

The first place you'd encounter a challenge is when you go for authentication at the ministry of education.
Once it's 5 or 7 years long (not sure again but you can search for where I mentioned it on this thread), they require you to get your original.

I read somewhere on this thread where u adviced those coming to teach to do so next year courtsey of the Pandemic.
If so, as i will like to take advantage of this oppurtunity when next year do you feel is ripe to get teaching jobs. As this will help me plan better.
Have a nice sunnyday

I never said next year.
I'm sure I said to keep putting money together pending when the travel restriction is lifted which could be anytime.
Initially, the government was planning to do so in September but with this outbreak, it's not feasible anymore.
So you can aim for next year and hope by then, all will be back to normal and you would have gotten your original certificate then

Cash gift is what they give here. Just put the money in an envelope and jejely drop it in a box provided. No noise

@whyna, well done for your good job.
do I have to get my tefl certificate authenticated by Vietnamese/Chinese embassy before I can use it to get a teaching job there? My tefl academy was advising me that I will need to get it authenticated by either of those embassies before they can give me a teaching job there.

Lol. You make the living expenses sound like a big deal. With 15-20k naira, you can live monthly here.
That would cover your feeding, students usually have a bus for buses so as long as your accommodation is covered, you're good to go.
Just get a part time jobs and. save your money
Please, I'm seeing 15k-20k, is that a mistake? Did you mean to write 150k-200k?
Sorry for asking, I'm just curious because I'm also looking for a cheap M.Sc destination

Sorry for asking, I'm just curious because I'm also looking for a cheap M.Sc destination
20k here is 1.2 million VND
So if you are prudent and not too extravagant, you'd survive.
Maybe when next I do my monthly shopping, I'll take a picture and show you all I got for what price.
The highest I've spent on feeding in a month is 32k and that's when I buy lots of ejekukuje like Ice cream, pizza, Doritos or use both meat, fish and chicken to cook at once and the supplies lasted more than a month. I also buy things in bulk and sets of 2 so I'm guessing for someone else, it's going to be way cheaper
The highest I've paid for electricity and water bill is 8k. For transportation, because I drive long distance a lot, I spend like 6k on fuel. Now that I'm in a new province that has free bus, that has reduced cos I try to make use of the bus more..
For students, since you are given accommodation, the electricity and light bill will be taken care of too. You will also be given a bus .
So except maybe you buy a bike or decide to take Grab/Uber or club or eat out often which is also cheap, you should be fine.
this is based on the fact that your accommodation is covered. For someone else who doesn't have free accommodation, depending on your taste, if you're willing to share, location and province you find yourself, you can pay from 30k/60k upwards. 30k if you're sharing with someone. In the bigger provinces, the lowest I've seen though is 65k and it can be difficult to find
For me, even in this one bedroom apartment I stay, I've never spent up to 150k a month

God bless u for this info, GraciasMY JOURNEY SO FAR
Hello, how has the research and every every been? I have a little update for us specifically on my own moves.
I wish to In a special way appreciate @WhyNa for creating this thread and sharing her journey oth us.
Just as she said earlier, there are many ways to enter Vietnam and we know many people will discover many routes. The fact that you are reading this could be a sign that you want to travel therefore I encourage everybody to share their experiences or successes so far.
I want to share on the study route, for those who want to enter Vietnam through study route. I have made some little progress on this regard.
My own research started with finding good but cheap countries I could study In and work and stay back after my study to work. The first place I found was North Cyprus, it was actually cheap but my findings showed that WORK NO DEY THERE OH, NA SUFFER THINGS. I was wise enough to move on. I came across India again and ran away fast because I have researched them some few year back, it's very cheap but no work even for their people talk less of Nigerians and they don't like us.
Finally, I came to Vietnam. My findings was cool, I some some schools and applied while waiting for them, my research brought me to this thread. I focused my energy on trying to enter Vietnam through the work permit route of which @WhyNa's posts and updates have been of great blessing. In May, one of the schools got back to me and that was FPT university in Hanoi its a university that deals more on IT and business courses. I asked them about the visa and everything. They will prepare the visa for you while you get the Visa Stamp at the Vietnamese embassy Abuja.
I asked how much is The visa stamp they said they don't really know that I should the embassy. When I ed the embassy, they said it varies depending on the type of student visa but that it's between 200 to 300 dollar.
Now, this process is very easy and you don't need to ask much questions and you don't need an agent.
1. Research top universities in Vietnam.
2. Get their ission office WhatsApp number. This guys are very helpful through their whatsapp, ask any questions. I always tell the person handling the FPT university ission WhatsApp number that am sorry for my to many questions and he/she will always tell me dont worry just ask.
3. Ask about their systems. FPT university for example, helps with airport pick up, helps to get accomodation, help you get a part time job at most in 3 months after you arrive Vietnam.
4. Apply and ask if their are scholarship oppourtinties available. Due to this corona virus pandemic effect on the economy, Vietnam education industry dey find student and they are likely to give out discounts just as is happening in North cyprus now. So, if you don't ask they might not tell you.
5. Arrange soft copies of your documents and send to their mail then await their ission/Scholarship report. Note: No school will give you full scholarship, you can only get discounts and trust me their tuition fees are relatively cheap.
6. Make payment and they will start working on your visa which should take not more than a month.
Concerning coming to Vietnam, my school said they are working with their immigration department to make sure they allow international students and professors to enter the country when they open the borders hopefully by July ending so please confirm from your school before making payment. Me I never pay tuition few, I still dey hustle he money but once am ready to pay, I will reconfirm from the school because I need to be sure if I pay Now, I should come over before September.
Also, I don't know of other university but for my school, you get 1 year temporal residence to enable you get a job after your graduation. This to me is cool.
Finally, this process is very easy, you don't need to ask many questions or send me a mail or look for agent as long as study route is concerned, just get the school and the course of your choice, send them mail or chat their WhatsApp number and they will take it up from their.
Their Bsc it 3 years or 4 years those that are 3 years do 3 semesters per year while those that are 4 years do 2 semesters per year.
Masters is 2 years.
Most of the schools are also d to universities in UK, US, Australia
I wish all luck, if any other person is making progress through another route please share too for those who might be interested.
Udo diri anyi.
